It was lunch time. As usual, Sanya. Kishika and Riddhi were talking and having lunch
"We are going to Kanyakumari this summer vacation," said Kishika "My Mom's getting tickets for a free trip to Kanya-kumari. Oh! It'll be so much of fun. I'm really looking forward. to it
"My Mom's going to meet the famous actor Sanjay Kapoor today. He's coming to the set to encourage all the participants," said Riddhi. "I've asked her to take me along. I'll have my photograph clicked with him. I'll show it to you tomorrow"
Kishika's, mother was an air hostess. Every six months she used to get complimentary tickets. Riddhi's mother was an actress. She got to meet exciting people on sets. Sometimes she would take Riddhi along. Riddhi would boast of meeting famous people, taking their autographs and getting her pictures clicked with them.
Sanya kept listening and wished she had something exciting to tell her friends. Her mother was a housewife and according to Sanya, she did nothing special. "Why is my mother at home all the time? It's so boring. She does nothing at home. She watches television all the time, thought Sanya.
On the way back home, she kept comparing her mother with her friends mothers. Kishika's mother looks so smart and modern. My mother looks so dull and boring. thought Sanya.
When she reached home, lunch was ready. Sanya threw her clothes on the floor and went inside her room She remained quiet all day. At dinner time her mother asked, "Sanya, what happened? You look sad. You are not talking today
"Nothing Ma" said Sanya. "I'm not in
a good mood today. I don't want to talk to anyone. Please leave me alone." Sanya's mother was surprised at Sanya's behaviour but she kept calm and left her to be with herself.
Next day again, Sanya didn't talk to her Her mother tried to cheer her up but she would not talk. Four days passed and Sanya's behaviour didn't change
"Sanya, I am going to your grandmother's place for four days. She is not well and she needs me. I'll leave tomorrow morning," said Sanya's mother.
Sanya didn't reply. She nodded and went into her room
On Saturday, Kishika invited Sanya and Riddhi to her place for lunch after school. When they both reached her house, Kishika opened the gate with the keys she used to keep in her school bag.
Is nobody at home?" asked Sanya.
"I told you, my mother is an air hostess," said Kishika. "So she's generally not at home this time. Sometimes she's not at home even during nights."
All the three girls were hungry. Kishika checked the refrigerator Frozen sandwiches and green chilli sauce was kept in it. She checked in the kitchenA bowl of mixed vegetable rice was there on the slab. She took all the three items and heated them in the microwave
They all sat for lunch
"I sometimes wish my mother stayed at home. Generally, when I reach home from school, I find a locked door which I don't like. It is such a good feeling when you get a warm welcome from your mother when you reach home. At least there is someone who's there to talk to you," said Kishika.
"Although I'm used to stay at home without my Mom around a lot of times, but I also wish sometimes that my Mom should stay at home like yours," said Riddhi. "I have to take care of a lot of things. Sometimes, when I need help in my homework there is no one around. Sometimes, when I'm hungry, I have to satisfy myself with chips and cold drink. Although we have a maid at home, but she can't be like my mother."
Sanya didn't say anything. In the evening when she reached home, there was no one at home. She did her homework. She was used to get her mother being at home always, but today there was no one. She waited for her father to come back from office. When he came back home, they ordered food from a nearby restaurant and had dinner.
Next day at school, the three friends sat together at the lunch time.
"Sanya, what happened?" asked Kishika. "You haven't got your lunch today?"
"My Mom has gone to Allahabad to see my grandma. She will come back after four days, replied Sanya.
"That means we'll have to miss the delicious lunches cooked by your Mom for four days replied sannya
Santa was surprised to hear that of her friends liked the lunch coocked by her mother so much. She reliased many times riddhi brought money tobuy her lunch from canteen and she never liked the food there. She remembered Kishika calling her to bring some extra chapattis and vegetable as her mother was out of the state for full two weeks.
You know we love the food cooked by your Mom," said Kishika
The next day during the Maths test, Sanya could not do the test well. When the teacher checked her test sheet she called Sanya and said. "Sanya, what is wrong with you? You've scored fifty percent marks in the test. I always see you as one of the brightest students of the class. You know these marks are to be added to finals. Please concentrate on your studies"
Sanya kept quiet and stood there. She realised how she could do things well with her mother's help. These days, she was not able to dress properly, tie her ribbon, make her bed, and iron her clothes and a lot of other things. She realised how much she was dependent on her mother for these things. All the special attention that her mother bestowed upon her was not here right now. She was really missing her. She realised that her mother too was special in her own way. At times Sanya had seen her mother getting tired but she never complained, instead she kept on doing her duties and took care of all the things at home.
Next day was the mother's day. Sanya made a 'Thank You' card for her. It said, "Mom, you are everything to me! I love you!"
When Sanya's mother came back, Sanya gave her a warm hug and gave her the card.
sanya had understand that looks appearance and profession don't change a mother love. Every mother love her children in her own way..
