Chapter 7 - A Dangerous Tease

I couldn't focus.

Not on the lecture.

Not on anything.

Luna's words kept repeating in my head.

"You shouldn't have come to this college."

What was that supposed to mean?

And how did she even know my name?

I glanced sideways.

She looked completely normal.

Calm.

Quiet.

As if she hadn't just dropped a bomb on my life.

"…This is bad," I muttered.

"Talking to yourself already?"

A voice suddenly came from behind me.

I turned around.

And for a second—

I forgot what I was thinking about.

A girl leaned slightly over my desk from behind.

Way too close.

She had a playful smile, sharp eyes, and an expression that screamed trouble.

"Mind if I join?" she asked casually.

"Join… what?" I blinked.

"Your little overthinking session," she smirked.

"I'm not overthinking."

"You definitely are."

"…Okay, maybe a little."

She laughed.

Not softly.

Not politely.

But openly.

Confidently.

"Name?" she asked.

"Ayaan."

"I know," she said instantly.

I froze.

"…How?"

She leaned even closer.

Close enough that I could feel her breath.

"I've been watching you," she whispered.

My brain stopped.

"…That sounded way more dangerous than it should."

She giggled.

"Relax, I'm not a stalker."

"Not helping."

"I'm Kiara," she said, finally pulling back.

Kiara.

Yeah…

That name suited her.

"So, Ayaan," she rested her chin on her hand, looking at me like I was some kind of entertainment, "first day and you're already famous."

"…Famous for all the wrong reasons."

"Girls' changing room?" she raised an eyebrow.

I almost choked.

"HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT?!"

"News travels fast," she winked.

Kill me.

Just kill me already.

"And then," she continued, counting on her fingers, "you got destroyed in class by her."

She glanced toward the front.

The attitude girl.

"Destroyed?" I frowned. "That's a bit much."

"Not really," she smirked. "It was pretty fun to watch."

"You're enjoying this way too much."

"Of course I am."

She leaned closer again.

"Things were getting boring around here."

I narrowed my eyes.

"…And I'm your entertainment?"

"Exactly."

Wow.

At least she was honest.

"Don't worry," she added casually, "I might help you too."

"Might?"

"Depends on my mood."

I sighed.

"Great. Another problem."

"Ouch," she placed a hand on her chest dramatically. "That hurts."

"You literally just said you enjoy my suffering."

"And I still do," she smiled sweetly.

Unbelievable.

"By the way," she lowered her voice slightly, "you should be careful."

That tone changed.

Just a little.

"Why?" I asked.

She glanced to my side.

At Luna.

Then back at me.

"That one…" she said quietly, "…is not normal."

My expression stiffened.

"You noticed too?" I asked.

Kiara smiled.

"Of course."

Her eyes sparkled with something different this time.

Something sharp.

"Actually…" she leaned in one last time.

"I know a lot more than you think."

Before I could ask anything—

She straightened up like nothing happened.

"Anyway," she stretched slightly, "try not to die on your first week, okay?"

"…I'll try."

"No promises?"

"No promises."

She laughed again and walked back to her seat.

I sat there.

Confused.

Annoyed.

And somehow…

More worried than before.

"…Why does everyone here know something I don't?" I muttered.

And deep inside—

I had a feeling.

This "normal college life"…

Was never going to be normal.
