Gwen looked at Peter, an unprecedentedly infatuated yet complex expression surfacing in her eyes. Perhaps this was life!
There was no such thing as a truly perfect matter in this world! If she only cared about the things that made her dissatisfied, she would only become less and less happy in the future.
On the contrary, if she chose to actively forget those insignificant flaws and focus more on Peter's strengths, then she could become the happiest woman in the world.
The moment she realized this, Gwen's thoughts became completely clear. Thus, while everyone was looking at Peter with utmost awe, Gwen proactively went up to greet him. Then, she did something "very un-Gwen." She proactively embraced and passionately kissed Peter in public.
Then, ignoring the jeering voices of the little Spider-Men, she leaned into Peter's ear and spoke:
"Hurry up and get things done on this side, then go home early. I don't want Dad and Grandma to worry too much about us."
Although she said she didn't want Dad and Grandma to worry, Peter understood Gwen's underlying meaning. The matter between him and Felicia was completely turned over! From today onward, a triangle truly possessed the most stable structure!
Thus, Peter took advantage of the situation to hold Gwen's hand and spoke:
"Then let's go, let's see what kind of plan that guy is actually making!"
As he spoke, he took Gwen and walked straight toward the headquarters building of Parker Industries. The Fantastic Four and the remaining Avengers, blocking his way subconsciously, stepped back to both sides like Moses parting the sea, clearing a path for him.
Parker Industries, top floor, CEO's office.
Ultimate Spider-Man had been standing in front of the large screen as if petrified for an unknown amount of time. From Peter's appearance to Thor's descent, to that earth-shattering war of gods, he had witnessed the entire process. He knew Peter was strong, but... this was so strong it was simply way too overpowered!
Ultimate Spider-Man admitted that at this split second, he truly birthed the thought of running away. However, this thought only appeared for less than 0.01 seconds before being snuffed out by him. This was absolutely a foolish thought!
"Although admitting that there is a Peter who is stronger than myself is very hard to accept. But for the crisis facing my eyes right now, this is actually a good thing, isn't it?"
"This guy is indeed stronger than me right now, but in the future, as long as I survive this wave of crisis, I might not be unable to surpass that guy."
Having spent ninety-nine percent of his life failing, he quickly completed his self-comfort. The moment he figured all of this out, the panic on his face faded completely. He pulled out a chair, sat down steadily, and began to quietly await Peter's arrival.
Ding—
Accompanied by the sound of the elevator reaching the top floor, Ultimate Spider-Man and the Spider-Army finally completed their cross-time-and-space meeting.
The moment they met, before Peter could even speak, the little Spider-Men behind him became excited with righteous indignation. A thousand words ultimately converged into one sentence:
"Beat you to death, you turtle grandson~!"
How could they not be excited! After all, quite a few of them were thoroughly deceived by this bastard into acting as executioners who proactively destroyed the happiness of themselves in other universes!
Facing the righteously indignant little Spider-Men, Ultimate Spider-Man still maintained a face full of composure, as if all of this was nothing more than flies buzzing around:
"That's about enough, can you make this group of idiots shut up?" Ultimate Spider-Man looked at Peter and asked.
The surrounding little Spider-Men were so angry their noses almost twisted. But as Peter made a gesture of raising his hand and pressing down, the little Spider-Men ultimately quieted down, merely waiting quietly for their leader Peter to speak.
"Alright." Peter looked at Ultimate Spider-Man: "You can start your defense, the... me of this universe."
"First of all, I need to clarify one thing." Ultimate Spider-Man adjusted his collar: "I am not you, essentially... I am Otto Octavius."
This opening line completely exceeded the expectations of the other little Spider-Men, successfully locking everyone right in place.
"This... how is this possible!"
"But you clearly look exactly the same as us."
"Yeah, how could you possibly be that smelly octopus!"
Listening to the continuous discussion of those surrounding little Spider-Men, Ultimate Spider-Man let out an arrogant cold snort:
"Just like this, naive, foolish, womanly compassion, lacking independent thinking capability, this is the reason for your failure."
"If you ask me, your today is not my fault, all of this was caused by your own hands, wasn't it!"
After fiercely despising the little Spider-Men for a bit, Ultimate Spider-Man recounted the story of exchanging bodies with Peter. After finishing all of this, he ignored the shocked eyes of the other little Spider-Men and only looked at Peter to speak:
"I know what you truly want to understand. Yes, the so-called Spider-Society was indeed a test, or rather, that was a backup plan of mine!"
Peter gave him a look, and after confirming that this guy wasn't playing any tricks, he spoke:
"Speak in detail."
Seeing his calm appearance, Ultimate Spider-Man knew he had bet correctly; the other party probably wouldn't kill him or anything like that. Thus, he cleared his throat and threw out another heavy bomb capable of leaving all the little Spider-Men dumbfounded:
"The reasons why I chose to remote-control that idiot Miguel to establish the Spider-Society are two. One is that that guy truly deserved to die; he almost messed up my entire plan, causing me to almost never return to this universe. Therefore, my revenging a certain variant of his in a parallel universe can be considered justifiable self-defense, right."
"As for this second reason..." Speaking up to here, Ultimate Spider-Man paused, a deep trace of wariness flashing in his eyes: "The Spider-Society is a test I designed, or rather a back-hand for the final moment... I know you guys might not believe the words I say next, but this is the fact—in this world, there exists a monster, or a group of monsters, that takes pleasure in hunting Spider-Man!"
As soon as his words fell, the little Spider-Men instantly erupted on the spot:
"You bullshit!"
"How is this possible!"
"This is completely alarmist talk!"
Seeing them begin to become restless again, Ultimate Spider-Man felt as if something was buzzing inside his brain. He rubbed his swelling temples with some irritation, an impatient expression surfacing on his face once more:
"All of you shut up, those who don't believe can roll out immediately, I didn't plan on counting on you pieces of trash anyway!"
Speaking up to here, he pointed at Peter and spoke:
"This matter is enough with just me and him, the rest of you are nothing but cannon fodder!"
"A group of dumb cannon fodder should have the awareness of being cannon fodder!"
