Chapter 3 - Ch3: Winner and loser

'Excellent, this emperor is clearly on my side. Now Wang Han has to adapt to his newfound strength, as well as remove the superior power features and even the equipment,' Wang Kai thought with satisfaction, deliberately giving his cousin a mocking smile.

'Wang Han, you thought that you had everything planned perfectly, but you didn't expect such a dramatic turn of events, did you? Hahaha.'

"Now, you scum, I'll make you suffer the consequences of your betrayal!"

Wang Kai and Wang Han exchanged glances for a few moments after making this pronouncement, before lunging at each other as a declaration of the beginning of a battle of life and death.

The fight began with Wang Kai gaining the upper hand. He landed a right punch on Wang Han's cheek, which Han parried, but it was a ruse. He then landed a punch to Wang Han's face with his other hand, sending him staggering back a few steps.

Wang Kai capitalized on this advantage, surging forward and delivering a powerful kick to Wang Han's stomach, causing him to stagger further and lose his balance.

Wang Han, for his part, tried to steady himself through gritted teeth, but this brief moment of distraction was enough for Wang Kai to turn the tide. He stepped forward, placing a hand on the ground while raising his foot to strike Wang Han below the chin, lifting him slightly off the ground. He followed this with another kick to the midriff, spinning through the air and sending Wang Han flying several meters before he slumped to the ground, utterly exhausted.

"You're really quite weak... as usual," Wang Kai said disdainfully as he sat on his cousin's chest.

"Time to vent a little."

A punch landed on Wang Han's face, leaving a red bruise and a trickle of blood from his nose, before another followed, and another, and another.

"Damn it, this fight was completely one-sided... as usual." Wang Han thought bitterly as he continued to be bombarded with punches.

A moment later, Wang Han raised his hand, signaling him to stop hitting him, and began to speak haltingly.

"P-please stop. You... you can't kill me. Yes, you can't kill me."

"Huh? What nonsense are you spouting, you wretch? Have you lost your mind or what? Why can't I kill you? Is it because you'll start begging and pleading? Hahaha."

Wang Kai brought his fist threateningly close to Wang Han's face again, sneering.

"N-no, you can't. Your sister... your sister will die if you kill me."

"What did you say? What did you do to my sister, you bastard? Where is she? Tell me now!" Wang Kai yanked his cousin up by the collar, his voice hoarse with rage, his face contorted with fury.

"Ha...hahaha, she's far away with my men. I've already given them orders. If I die, they'll kill her immediately, without delay... Now choose: your sister's life or your own?" A wide grin spread across Wang Han's face as he watched Wang Kai's triumphant expression gradually turn to despair.

"Bastard!" Wang Kai slammed Wang Han to the ground, cursing as he unleashed a barrage of punches. One, two, three, before he stopped just as his fourth punch was about to land on his cousin's mangled, bloodied face.

"Hey, what if I kill you here? No one will know. By the time your followers find out you're dead, I'll have already saved my sister." Wang Kai said, a glimmer of hope in his eyes, speaking more to himself than to the man lying before him, before exchanging glances with Wang Han again.

"No... that won't work... I... I have a life-smelling... as soon as I die, it will break, and then they'll kill your sister." Wang Han extinguished the glimmer of hope in Wang Kai's eyes in an instant, his gaze returning to despair as quickly as it had turned hopeful.

"I... I have a suggestion. Listen to me. I know you don't want your sister to die, and sacrificing your life isn't easy either. I have a solution that will suit both of us, Wang Kai."

Upon hearing this, Wang Kai's attention and focus shifted completely from his previous reverie to Wang Han. He spoke coldly, his expression blank.

"Speak. What is this solution?"

"It's simple. We'll swear an oath in the name of Heaven. You will kill yourself so I can win the inheritance, and in return, I will guarantee your sister's safety for as long as I live. I will also do my utmost to revive you. Once I succeed in finding a way to revive, I must do so within a year, or I will be struck down by lightning as punishment for breaking my promise. What do you say?"

Silence fell for a minute. Wang Kai and Wang Han exchanged glances without uttering a word, clearly understanding how difficult this decision was.

'I thought he might be lying about kidnapping my sister, but if he's willing to swear by Heaven and put his life on the line, then that bastard is definitely telling the truth.'

"Fine, I agree, but you'll add in the oath that even after I'm resurrected, you can't kill me or my sister as long as you live." Wang Kai finally spoke with a sigh of resignation, hatred dripping from his voice and expression.

"Okay, definitely. You've made the right decision, believe me." Wang Han agreed with lightning speed, a smile plastered across his face.

"It doesn't matter, let's do this quickly."

"Of course, of course."

Both Wang Kai and Wang Han placed their hands on their hearts simultaneously, saying:

"I swear by heaven and earth that I will sacrifice myself so that Wang Han will protect my sister for as long as he lives, and that he will resurrect me in less than a year as soon as he finds a way to do so, and that he will never again attempt to kill either me or my sister. If I fail to do this, may lightning strike me and I die the most gruesome death imaginable."

"I swear by heaven and earth that I will protect Wang Kai's sister for as long as I live, and that I will resurrect Wang Kai in less than a year as soon as I find a way to do so, and that I will never again attempt to kill either of them, in exchange for Wang Kai sacrificing himself. If I fail to do this, may lightning strike me and I die the most gruesome death imaginable."

Wang Kai and Wang Han completed their oaths, at which point Wang Han spoke with a smile.

"It's all done. Now, commit suicide."

"I already know that. You don't need to tell me." Wang Kai replied, closing his eyes for one last thought.

'Suicide was truly the last thing I ever thought I'd do in my life. Life is the most precious gift God has given us, and I'm so sorry for wasting it, but this is for my sister.'

Wang Kai bit his tongue at this last thought, ending his own life as he fell, eyes closed, like a lifeless corpse. Meanwhile, a wide, wicked, and insane smile never left Wang Han's lips, a smile of triumph.

'He fell for the trick!'
