Chapter 5 - new life of a sinner

(lyra pov)

When lyra woke up, she was in a beautiful white bed that looked like it was made for a princess. There was also a floating black screen in front of her, but that wasn't important. There were maids; the first to approach her was a dark-skinned maid with brown hair and white eyes. She spoke in a soft voice, "Lady Lyra, wave. Your father, Viscount Henrie Wave, wishes to speak to you. Prepare."

Lyra had no idea what her new reality truly was, but memories of the previous owner of the body peeked through. Apparently, Lyra Wave was also a musical genius who had a very similar personality to her own, except for the trust issues. Her new body was petite for a 16-year-old. She had porcelain skin, golden hair, gold eyes, and somehow was only 164 centimeters or 5 feet 4 and a half inches — and yes, she counted the half.

The room she was in was luxurious. It had a beautiful giant chandelier, red carpets, tiaras everywhere with all kinds of gems—sapphires, rubies, gold, diamonds, and emeralds. As Lyra tried to get up, a servant assisted her. When Lyra tried to get dressed, a servant dressed her—basically, every part of her life besides eating and breathing was automated by the servants unless she left the castle. Apparently, the servant who had spoken to her earlier was her headmaid, Vine Herrald. She let the maids do all the work because, even though this life seemed too good to be true, she would find the problem in it eventually. Hell, it might not be that bad, and if she started acting weird, something bad might happen. She might never get to play the violin again or, even worse, get sent back to hell with that demon prick Death—or imprisonment. Those were very bad outcomes. Who knew what would happen if they thought the beautiful daughter was possessed by a demon? This is just a novel that scary goddess liked, and it was most likely not set in modern times.

Eventually, Vine led her down the halls of this big building, and there were so many rooms. Then Vine stopped at a big door with two huge doors. Vine opened the door, and inside was her father, Viscount Henrie Wave.

"Lyra, one year from now, you will be joining Star Blade Academy. I do not expect much from you, but remember our promise: if you can get at least into B-class by the end of Year 1, I will allow you to marry whoever you want. If not, I will decide for you. Duke Penndragon's son seems like a perfect fit for you."

Description:

You are the reincarnation of the Primordial Sin of Obsession.

Your existence exerts the Authority of Resonance, binding your emotions, desires, and fixations into reality itself. What you focus on, the world cannot ignore.

Effects:

* Resonant Fixation — When you focus on a person, object, emotion, or concept, you create a metaphysical "resonance link." The longer you fixate, the stronger the link becomes.

* Emotional Echo — Your emotions imprint onto your target. Fear, desire, longing, hatred, admiration—all can be transmitted through resonance.

* Harmonic Pull — Targets linked to you experience subtle compulsion: attention drifts toward you, thoughts circle back to you, and resistance weakens over time.

* Obsessive Amplification — Any skill, talent, or action tied to your fixation becomes drastically more powerful the deeper your obsession grows.

* Sin Heart (Dormant) — When your true obsession awakens, your Authority evolves, unlocking divine-grade resonance abilities.

"Sounds useless early on," were Lyra's first thoughts. "I mean, this sin seems to boost talent, power, and manipulation. However, I'm not good at manipulating, and the attack power would only increase music or sound-related abilities for now. Even my skill is a lie. Why is everything and everyone in my life a lie? Why even this life, this father, this luxury? All of it was a lie!"

Lyra walked out of the room. This time, no maid followed her. It took her 20 minutes to get back to her own room. This place had to be a castle or something. She was afraid to ask for directions and be caught. Thankfully, with enough of the original Lyra Wave's body's memories, she made it to her room.

(Henrie pov)

"Vine, did she seem less trusting and warm than before?" Henrie was genuinely puzzled. His daughter was always kind and was the type to feed a stray cat, but today she seemed off.

"Lord Henrie, your third daughter, Lady Lyra, has been acting strange today. She had no smile. In fact, she seemed more worried than usual."

Vine was the only person Henrie trusted with his life. After all, she was raised to be his shadow, and not once in his 59 years did it seem like she even contemplated killing him. In fact, 29 years ago, she had even saved him from a mana poisoning arrow. Because of that, he agreed to have a child with her, ending up with Lyra Wave. Publicly, Lyra's mother was Vine, a concubine. She was more like an assassin—that's why she hid as a maid today—to monitor her daughter and see if any threats or bullies were in her life. What she learned instead was that her daughter was a true saint—someone who helped everyone. Some people took slight advantage of her, but nothing insidious. Her daughter was the least likely candidate for heir, so all her siblings were usually kind to her. So why would she change?
