Episode 34: Fractured Families and Forgotten Rings
February 14, 6078 – Leister Household
The dinner table was set with care. Kyle Leister had insisted on this meeting. Gwen had begged him not to.
Wyatt Freeman and his father, Moses Freeman, arrived right on time. Moses, a tall, strong man with kind eyes, shook Kyle's hand firmly.
"Old college buddy," Moses laughed. "Been too long."
Kyle smiled. "Way too long. Come on in."
As they sat down, Moses froze when he saw Gwen. His face hardened instantly.
"You…" Moses whispered in anger. "That woman… she's the same one who abandoned Wyatt as a kid."
Kyle dropped the plates he was carrying. They shattered across the floor.
"Wh… what?" Kyle stammered.
Kevin, walking downstairs, overheard everything. His heart burned with fury and sadness.
Kyle turned to Gwen, voice shaking. "So you're telling me… the stepmother of my son is his best friend's biological mother who ran away?"
Moses nodded grimly. "Yeah. She is Wyatt's mother."
Kevin stepped into the room, eyes glowing faintly with white-blue light. The tension in the air was suffocating.
The Realm Mysteria
Nathan walked beside Selene Arkwright through glowing crystal forests. Grug, Eddie Gigglesworth, The Labyrinth Lord, and Paradonitious followed.
Selene explained softly, "Mysteria is one of the few realms that has known true peace. No great wars. No endless conquest. But it is not the safest. Many dangerous beings still wander here."
Nathan nodded. "You mentioned the Lord of Hell's plan earlier…"
Selene gestured to the Labyrinth Lord. The massive Minotaur sat down and pulled out an ancient sketch of six rings.
"These are the Six Rings of Eldoria," the Labyrinth Lord rumbled. "An ancient realm known for merging high technology and magical artifacts. The rings can open bridges between space and time… even transport entire realms."
Nathan's eyes widened. "Damn…"
"The rings were once used in an attempt to merge the Nether Realm and the Garden of Eden," the Labyrinth Lord continued. "But the first human, Adam, separated them across Earth, knowing no one would search there — because every realm views the human world as the weakest."
Paradonitious laughed bitterly. "So Lucifer's plan is to open a bridge between Heaven and Hell… and merge them."
The Labyrinth Lord nodded. "Each ring must be placed in ascending order. The first is the size of your arm. The sixth is enormous."
Grug just kept muttering, "Meat… meat…"
Eddie grinned. "So literally, we're fighting Hell here."
Nathan's expression hardened. "Where's the first ring?"
"Finland," the Labyrinth Lord replied. "The second is in South Africa — Gold Reef City."
Nathan stood. "We have to get back to the human realm."
Peter & Rona's Apartment
Peter and Rona were in bed, breathing heavily. Rona traced a finger down Peter's chest.
"I'm still stressing about Nathan," Rona admitted. "He just… disappeared."
Peter panted. "I hope he's okay… wherever his soul is… in a better place."
A loud knock sounded at the door.
Peter groaned. "What the hell?"
Ten-year-old Syion, their neighbor, stood there with wide eyes.
Peter blinked. "Syion?! I will end up telling your mom we get it — you can read minds and you want to join the Guardians, but you're too young!"
Syion smirked. "I can read your mind. You're thinking of shutting this door in my face… after which you want to get pegged by your boyfriend Rona."
Rona overheard from the bed and laughed. "Aww babe, so cute!"
Peter kicked the door shut. Syion went home, already devising a mischievous plan.
Guardians Headquarters
Derek was fixing a lightbulb when it sparked violently, sending electricity surging through his already damaged nervous system. He collapsed, twitching.
Ferrum — the silent Iron Sentinel — rushed to his side, carrying him to the hospital. A lingering spark of electricity remained in Derek's body… but his powers were gone.
Meanwhile, Ri Kwon Jae, Gillan, and Garcia assembled a list for Sasha:
Jabari Reid – Jamaican gambler with Gamble (reality-bending luck). Ignis Lau – Hong Kong fire master. Meteor Boy (Amadou Diop) – Senegal, meteor control. Cole Joseph – Antigua & Barbuda, magma control. Loki Nyden – Swedish actor, shapeshifter.
New Recruits Arrived:
Robo-Bot entered with mechanical ambience — sparks flying, gears whirring, humming circuits. He commanded a small army of steel drones like a conductor. Mac Puigcerver arrived with heavy atmospheric pressure, air bending around him. Gravity itself seemed to bow. Fenrir Nightshade and his right-hand alpha StillFang howled under the moonlight, feral werewolf forms casting long shadows. Mortalis, Master of the Dead, sought to merge the underworld with Hell and the mortal realm — putting him on a direct collision course with Lucifer.
The Blank Ruins
Kevin stood with Wyatt, both processing the dinner revelation. Gwen's past had come back to haunt them all.
The war for truth — and family — had only just begun.
