What none of them knew was that Valerie already understood the real reason behind Ben Wilson's sudden bad interest in her company.
And it had nothing to do with business.
It was something else and she knows it.
Hours later, under the astonished gaze of everyone in the boardroom, Valerie personally confirmed the appointment with assistant and Ben Wilson.
The meeting was set for next week.
As the room slowly emptied, her assistant hesitated near the door.
"Are you sure about this, Ms Sterling?"
Valerie smirked and stared at the city lights beyond the glass windows, her expression unreadable.
"That is, you don't believe in me."
The assistant bowed slightly.
"I'm sorry ma'am. Wilson's Corporation is dangerous."
A faint smile touched Valerie's lips, though there was no warmth in it.
"Oh, I didn't know."
She said in a cold icy tone and walked out.
Meanwhile, across the city, Ben Wilson leaned back in his office chair as his secretary informed him the meeting had been accepted.
For the first time in years, the man laughed dangerously.
"Interesting. I'll ruin her company." he murmured.
His fingers tapped lightly against the desk before his gaze darkened with recognition.
"Valerie Sterling… with your help, I'll make my sister wishes come true."
So the business meeting turned to something personal.
The air in the room shifted instantly.
His secretary stood frozen beside the door, too afraid to ask questions. Everyone who worked for Ben Wilson knew one thing — whenever he smiled like that, someone was about to lose everything.
Ben rose from his chair and walked toward the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city.
*Flashback*
Two years ago.
Melisa walked into his office looking visibly upset. Her husband refused to stay in the same room with her.
She knew the little fling between Ian and Valerie.
"I want you to ruin Valerie."
"What did the lady did to you". He asked not surprised.
"I just hate her". She responded.
"Or you hate her for having more people respect and she was able to take over her family's company to higher place". He stated her mind.
" And she has my husband's heart"
Ben smirked.
He met Valerie once or twice at a gala event and he was being honest cause the woman was really really beautiful but too bad she's sister enemy.
" I thought you said you aren't in love with Ian".
"And who said I do. I just don't like it, when my territory is trespassed".
"ohh, really. Then what do you want?"
"I want her high company to go bankrupt. I want her to fall from grace to grass".
Ben smiled.
"All this for Ian"
She glared at him.
"Ok consider it done but not soon"
"Why?" She shouted.
"A lot on me" he said casually and standing up, his hands in his pocket as he walked towards Melissa.
"I'll do it and make that frown turn to pride and smile". He said looking at her directly into her eyes.
"You are the best". She said cracking a smile.
"First time hearing praises from my sister".
He said smile.
" I'll treat you to a meal, bills on me just for today". She said putting her arms on his shoulder.
He raised an eyebrow.
Just for destroying someone is making her treat him nicely.
He shook his head and smiled again.
"Ok, princess".
And they left.
*Flashback ended*
Now the game has started and Ben didn't know he would end up doing the opposite later on.
