Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Her words was casual but held something in them. Liam removed his badge and stepped out of the conference room with his head down. He knew better than to argue with Valerie. The meeting ended as she was the first to step outside and the rest followed. The beautiful lady entered the elevator with her assistant. She waved him off and called Chris. Hello. A deep voice said first but she didn't respond. Is he back? She asked skipping the greeting part. No. He responded. Fine. She said and cut the call. She called in her assistant Charles, who ran in. What's the next schedule? She asked. Dinner with Mr. Thorne. He responded.

The ambient hum of "Le Ciel" was usually a comfort to Valerie, but tonight, it felt like a prelude to something unsettling. She'd dismissed her assistant, Charles, earlier, wanting to handle this crucial meeting with Mr. Thorne alone. Thorne wasn't like Sterling; his reputation was built on brute force and intimidation, not subtle charm. He was a man who wore his power like a rough-spun cloak, a middle-aged figure with a weathered face etched with hard living and eyes that missed nothing. His hands, large and calloused, rested on the table, capable of both immense strength and, Valerie suspected, a chilling disregard for niceties. He'd opted for a simple, dark, well-worn leather jacket over a crisp, but unadorned, shirt – practical, unpretentious, and radiating an aura of raw, untamed energy.

As the evening wore on, Valerie felt a growing unease. The wine, which she usually enjoyed, began to taste... off. A strange lethargy washed over her, her thoughts fogging like a window in the rain. A cold dread seeped into her bones as she met Thorne's gaze; it was no longer just assessing, but possessive, with a flicker of something sinister she couldn't quite place. He had drugged her. The realization hit her with the force of a physical blow, and a desperate fear clawed at her throat.

She was trying to stay rational but the effects is too powerful, he smiled and held her by the arm to support her to the room upstairs.Meanwhile, as they they entered the elevator. ✨

They meet a man who was sculpted by a divine hand, a walking embodiment of sheer, arresting beauty. His features were sharp yet impossibly smooth, like polished obsidian, with eyes the color of a stormy sea that seemed to hold an ancient, captivating wisdom. A subtle, almost imperceptible smile played on his lips, a silent promise of both danger and delight that could make even the most composed woman's knees tremble. His presence was magnetic, drawing every eye, yet he moved with an effortless grace that was utterly disarming. He wore a suit, not just any suit, but a masterpiece of tailoring. Deep midnight blue, it seemed to absorb the light, cut with a precision that hinted at immense wealth and impeccable taste, accentuating his powerful frame without a hint of ostentation. It was a statement of quiet, devastating power.
