Chapter 142: The Fall of Satoru Gojo?
Inside Tokyo Jujutsu High's barrier, the smell of blood spread through the air.
Toji Fushiguro watched Suguru Geto retreat with Riko, but made no move to stop him.
He only rested his long blade on his shoulder and looked at Satoru Gojo, who was slowly forcing himself back to his feet.
"You're pretty confident, kid."
Toji's mouth curled.
"You really think that Limitless of yours can stop me in your current state?"
"Shut up."
Gojo took a deep breath and forced his remaining Cursed Energy into the wound in his chest, sealing the torn blood vessels as best as he could.
Blood still dripped down his uniform.
His face was pale.
But his eyes remained sharp.
Clang!
Toji moved first.
The ordinary katana slashed down, only to be stopped by Gojo's hastily restored Limitless.
The impact shook the ground beneath Gojo's feet, cracking the bluestone path into fragments.
"Not bad speed, old man."
Gojo gritted his teeth and forced a wild grin.
Every word pulled at the wound in his chest. Every breath sent tearing pain through his ribs.
"But as long as Limitless is active, physical attacks without Cursed Energy won't ever touch me."
"Is that right?"
Toji's smile deepened.
Instead of retreating, he pressed forward.
His body moved against the warped space around Gojo, slipping through narrow gaps with footwork so strange it almost looked unnatural.
Too fast.
He was too fast.
Even Gojo's Six Eyes could only catch streaks of motion and fragmented afterimages.
That body, empty of even the faintest trace of Cursed Energy, had abandoned every shackle ordinary humans carried. What remained was explosive power refined to an impossible degree, a physical monster that even most Special Grade Cursed Spirits could not match.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Toji used fallen trees, broken stone, and the edges of nearby structures as footholds.
His figure flashed through the air like black lightning, cutting at Gojo from every direction.
Gojo was forced to raise the output of Limitless to its maximum, wrapping himself in an absolute defense.
Every time Toji's blade struck that invisible barrier, a sharp sonic boom split the air.
"Damn it…"
Cold sweat covered Gojo's forehead.
"Does this guy ever get tired?"
His brain throbbed.
The three days of continuous overuse had already pushed him to the edge. Now, under Toji's relentless assault, even maintaining the defense felt like dragging his nerves across broken glass.
He could not keep defending forever.
Gojo raised his right hand.
His index and middle fingers pressed together.
A terrifying blue light began to condense at his fingertips, pulling the surrounding space inward.
"If you have no Cursed Energy…"
His grin sharpened.
"Then I'll crush you with pure force."
Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue.
Boom!
A sphere of condensed attraction formed and shot toward Toji with violent force.
The space around it warped. The bluestone path was torn up in sheets, nearby trees splintered, and fragments of the surrounding structures were dragged into the collapsing pull.
It was an attack powerful enough to crush a Special Grade Cursed Spirit head-on.
But Toji did not panic.
"Too slow."
His legs drove into the ground.
Bang!
The spot where he had stood caved in.
His body vanished from Gojo's sight.
Gojo's pupils constricted.
Blue missed.
Worse, his Six Eyes failed to track Toji's movement for a fraction of a second.
And that fraction was enough.
A swarm of low-level Cursed Spirits burst from all directions.
Fly Heads.
They poured into Gojo's field of vision like a black cloud, blocking his sight in an instant.
"Is that your tactic?"
Gojo sneered through the pain.
"Using trash to block my view?"
He was about to release Cursed Energy and clear them away when a fatal chill wrapped around his heart.
Behind him.
Toji appeared in Gojo's blind spot like a ghost.
"Open up, Choubao."
Even while moving at high speed, Toji's voice remained calm.
The storage Cursed Spirit hidden inside his body emerged from his mouth, half its grotesque form slipping out before spitting a strange short blade into his hand.
Special Grade Cursed Tool.
Inverted Spear of Heaven.
Toji caught it in a reverse grip.
Using the momentum of his monstrous body, he stabbed straight toward Gojo's throat.
At the final instant, Gojo sensed it.
He activated Limitless by instinct, trying to place that untouchable distance between himself and the blade.
But the moment the forked edge touched his technique—
Crack.
The sound was faint.
Like glass breaking inside his skull.
The absolute defense that could stop space itself was torn apart as easily as paper.
The Inverted Spear of Heaven forcibly nullified the active Cursed Technique.
For the first time, true horror appeared in Satoru Gojo's eyes.
"Impossible—"
Splurt!
Blood sprayed through the air.
The Inverted Spear of Heaven pierced cleanly through Gojo's throat.
Toji's eyes were cold as iron.
He did not pause.
He pulled the blade free in one motion, then followed with a heavy backhand slash.
The edge tore from Gojo's right shoulder down across his chest, carving open a bone-deep wound.
Bang!
Toji's kick landed in Gojo's abdomen.
The boy hailed as the strongest of the modern era flew backward like a discarded rag doll.
His body rolled across the ground more than a dozen times before crashing into a large tree.
Then he stopped moving.
Blood spread beneath him, staining the earth red.
Gojo's Six Eyes stared blankly upward, unfocused. A wet, broken sound escaped his throat as his consciousness sank rapidly into darkness.
The strongest had fallen.
In that cruel moment, Satoru Gojo had barely managed to counterattack before being crushed by a man without a single trace of Cursed Energy.
Toji walked over at an unhurried pace.
He stopped beside Gojo and casually placed one foot on his head.
Dirt and blood from the sole of his shoe smeared across Gojo's white hair.
Looking down at the dying prodigy, Toji smiled with open contempt.
"Didn't I tell you?"
His voice was low.
"Don't get cocky, kid."
He withdrew the Inverted Spear of Heaven.
"I'm the Sorcerer Killer."
Toji did not bother looking at Gojo again.
He turned toward the passage leading to the Tomb of the Star Corridor.
The hunt had only just begun.
Star Plasma Vessel.
Suguru Geto.
None of them would escape.
And dozens of kilometers away, Yami was still racing toward Tokyo Jujutsu High like a streak of thunder.
Fate had already slipped to the edge of losing control.
The storm was about to erupt in the depths of the Tomb of the Star Corridor.
