Chapter 91 - Chapter 90: The Truth Beyond the Core

A deafening crack echoed through the chamber.

The control core split cleanly down the middle, releasing a pillar of golden light that shot through the ceiling and disappeared into the heavens.

The force threw everyone backward.

Ethan hit the stone floor hard, struggling to catch his breath.

His mother's final words still echoed in his mind.

You were never the mistake.

He slowly opened his eyes.

The chamber had changed.

The ancient walls were no longer covered in symbols.

Instead, they were covered in glowing memories.

Thousands of them.

Scenes from lives long forgotten.

Children laughing.

Families embracing.

Cities rising.

Kingdoms falling.

Entire civilizations appeared and disappeared across the walls like living paintings.

Selene stared in amazement.

What... is this place?

The First Witness looked around quietly.

The Memory Vault.

Lucien nodded.

The true heart of this world.

Aiden lowered his spear.

His crimson eyes slowly lost their hostile glow.

So the seal is finally broken.

Kairo helped Ethan to his feet.

You all right?

Ethan nodded slowly.

I think so.

He wasn't sure.

His head was still filled with fragments of memories that weren't his.

Or perhaps...

They were.

Before he could gather his thoughts, a soft voice filled the chamber.

Welcome home... Observer.

Everyone turned.

The golden light gathered above the broken core, slowly taking the shape of a woman.

She appeared no older than thirty.

Her long silver hair flowed like liquid light, and her golden eyes held countless stars.

She wasn't standing on the floor.

She floated effortlessly above it.

The Keepers immediately knelt.

Even the Enforcer lowered its head.

Lucien smiled faintly.

I wondered if you still existed

The woman looked at him.

I exist as long as one memory remains.

The First Witness bowed respectfully.

My Lady.

Ethan frowned.

Who is she?

The woman turned toward him.

Her smile was gentle.

My name is Elyra.

I am the Keeper of Origins.

She slowly descended until her feet touched the stone floor.

Then she stood before Ethan.

"I've waited a very long time to meet you."

Ethan sighed.

"Everyone keeps saying that."

A faint laugh escaped her lips.

"I suppose they do."

She reached out, placing two fingers lightly against his forehead.

Instantly—

another vision exploded into Ethan's mind.

He stood in a magnificent city unlike anything he had ever imagined.

Crystal towers reached into the clouds.

Rivers of silver light flowed through the streets.

People laughed together without fear.

No Circle.

No bloodlines.

No heirs.

Only peace.

The vision shifted.

The beautiful city was suddenly engulfed in darkness.

The sky cracked apart.

A great war erupted.

People fled in every direction.

Mountains collapsed.

The crystal towers crumbled.

Then Ethan saw them.

Three figures standing together against the darkness.

Lucien.

The First Witness.

And Elyra.

Behind them stood a fourth figure.

His face remained hidden.

But his voice was unmistakable.

"You must protect the Observer."

The vision shattered.

Ethan gasped as he returned to the chamber.

He looked at Elyra.

"Who was the fourth person?"

Her smile faded.

"The first friend you ever had."

Silence filled the room.

"I don't remember him."

"You weren't meant to."

Kairo stepped forward.

"What does that mean?"

Elyra looked toward him.

"When the worlds separated, every memory of him was erased."

Lucien lowered his eyes.

"We failed to save him."

Aiden spoke quietly.

"He chose to be forgotten."

Ethan felt another strange ache in his chest.

Someone...

Someone important.

Someone he couldn't remember.

Yet somehow...

He missed them.

Before anyone could speak again, the chamber trembled violently.

A low rumble echoed from above.

Adrian looked toward the broken ceiling.

"They're back."

The silver barriers surrounding the chamber shattered all at once.

Outside, countless crimson lights filled the tunnels.

The Hunters had returned.

But this time...

They weren't alone.

Heavy footsteps echoed through the darkness.

One.

Then another.

Then dozens more.

The Enforcer's silver eyes flashed.

WARNING.

MULTIPLE TRANSCENDENT ENTITIES DETECTED.

Lucien's expression became grim.

"They actually sent them."

Selene looked between everyone.

"Sent who?"

No one answered immediately.

Then twelve towering figures emerged from the darkness.

Each wore black armor etched with golden symbols.

Each carried a different ancient weapon.

And each radiated overwhelming power.

The Hunters immediately knelt before them.

Elyra whispered a single name.

"The Twelve Arbiters."

The leader stepped forward.

Unlike the others, his face was uncovered.

His expression was calm.

Almost kind.

Yet his eyes held no warmth.

He looked directly at Ethan.

"The Observer has awakened."

He raised his sword.

"Then the Final Judgment may begin."

The twelve Arbiters drew their weapons together.

The sound rang through the chamber like the tolling of a bell.

Ethan instinctively stepped closer to Kairo.

Kairo raised his sword.

Selene spun her daggers into a ready grip.

Aiden stood beside Lucien.

The Keepers formed a defensive circle once more.

For the first time since their journey began, every ally stood united.

The leader of the Arbiters smiled faintly.

"Good."

"I was hoping you would resist."

He pointed his sword at Ethan.

"That will make your judgment... meaningful."
