Chapter 18 - Dinner [2]

Edgar Ariala looked at Mikhail from head to toe like he had seen him for the first time.

After an awkward pause of a few seconds, he finally brought his hand forward.

"Jasmine's genes are doing wonders." He said, his voice deep. "I am glad you aren't going bald like your father."

Mikhail chuckled softly. "Yeah, I just hope I don't get Ronic's hairstyle."

Edgar glanced at Methew who lay with his eyes closed on his shoulder, but he didn't comment anything.

The man in his late forties shifted his head as he looked back at Kevin.

Kevin waved lightly. "Sup, old man."

Edgar threw his office bag at him which he caught easily. "Don't get ahead of yourself, brat."

Sarah walked forward and helped him take off his coat while Edgar took off his tie.

"Mind waiting for me, Mikhail?" He asked. "I really need to take a shower."

"Sure, I can wait." Mikhail replied with a smile.

Edgar nodded and walked towards his room with Sarah.

Kevin wrapped his hand over Mikhail's shoulder. "Let's wait in my room."

They both walked up to the second floor as Kevin opened his room, which was just beside Carol's room.

Kevin's room was painted in a lot more colour than the rest of the home, with dim lights and a messy bed.

It was big and spacious and empty, as if Kevin had given up on decorating the place.

Stacks of action books and comics were arranged on the side shelf, the only things that were neatly arranged.

Mikhail pushed the clothes from the bed and sat down with a groan. "Oh, my back."

"What happened to you, old fuck?" He asked, taking something out from below his bed.

"I am just tired." Mikhail replied. "A lot happened today."

Mikhail had refrained from allocating the blank points to any stats as he planned to keep them as a trump card.

'Though, I don't think it will matter much in the lower ranks.'

Mikhail turned to look at Kevin who put a sealed box on the bed.

"The fuck is this?" He asked.

"My treasures." Kevin replied. "I got some new ones this week."

Rubbing his hands, he put in the passcode and opened the box.

With a gleeful smile, he took out erotic illustration books and passed one towards Mikhail. "The new item."

He took it, looked at the first page and immediately got disgusted. "For fuck sake, this is a beast girl."

"So what?" Kevin rebuked. "They are beautiful and there are exotic pictures of other races inside—."

Mikhail threw the book back at his face. "Go kill yourself."

Kevin quickly grabbed the book and neatly smoothed the crease. "You don't understand how hard it is to find such books in this stupid nationalist kingdom."

Mikhail looked at him speechlessly as Kevin carefully put the book inside the box and hid it.

"I never asked it directly." Mikhail said. "But are you into different races?"

"Don't I have to spell it out for you?" He rebuked. "Of course I am."

He sat down on the bed comfortably. "Heck, I would betray humanity for a dommy mommy vampire wife."

"You should be put in jail just for saying that."

The history between humans and other races had never been good.

Even though other races tried to befriend humanity multiple times, humans always betrayed them.

"Who is gonna touch this daddy?" Kevin replied smugly. "I am a King Rank."

Mikhail's lips twitched. "Sure." He replied. "We will see about that."

"Hm?" Kevin raised his brow. "Is that a threat?"

"So what if it is?"

Kevin stood up as if offended by his words. He quickly took off his shirt and got into a boxing stance.

"You think you are better than me?" He provoked. "Come, let me show you who is the daddy."

Mikhail chuckled, put Methew down and cracked his neck. "You sure?"

"Come and get it!" He sneered and rushed.

Kevin swung a powerful right and Mikhail met him with his own.

His punch was faster and caught the blonde by surprise as he staggered back, clenching his chest.

He grinned and rushed in with another punch.

Mikhail ducked, he missed the right and followed it in with the weight of his body.

He slid his arm around Kevin's neck, used his body as a lever to slam him on the floor face first.

Mikhail put his knee on his back and pulled Kevin's head back.

"Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!"

"Who is your daddy?" Mikhail asked, grinning.

"Edgar Ariala!"

"What?"

"My father."

Before Mikhail could ask anything else the door of Kevin's room slowly opened up.

Carol looked at them up and down. Mikhail followed her gaze, finding himself pinning Kevin in an awkward way with Kevin half naked.

He immediately let go and stood up. "It's not what—."

"Mom!" Carol yelled, running away. "Big brother Mikhail and Kevin are having sex!"

"No!!"

"We are not!"

---

After half an hour of waiting, the family sat at the dinner table.

The Ariala family quietly ate their food in an awkward silence along with Mikhail.

Edgar rubbed his temples while he ate.

"You look stressed, uncle." Mikhail said, trying to start a conversation. "Everything alright?"

"Not really, son." Edgar replied with a tired smile. "There is too much pressure on me after Pastor David's death."

Mikhail gave a short nod. He was the head of security so it made sense.

"Are they asking you to resign?" He asked.

"No." Edgar shook his head. "Because of Kevin's rank they are refraining from offending me."

Kevin looked up, glanced at his sister and puffed his chest.

"But the same cannot be said for the church." He continued. "They are really being a bother."

"They did lose a prominent member of the church." Sarah replied. "It's obvious they want some sort of revenge."

Edgar nodded his head tiredly, unable to deny it.

"The church never tries to create harmony and peace." Mikhail mumbled. "Their name 'the church of God of War' is really suited."

Edgar let out a small chuckle. "They can't create harmony in their own church, what else can we expect?"

The church of God of War was divided into two different groups: the Anglican church and the Orthodox church.

The Anglican church believed that the God of War died when he was beheaded, and by his last will, his three angels were leading humanity.

While the Orthodox church believed that the God of War was alive and would return at the start of the Second Apocalypse.

"Anyway." Edgar decided to change the topic. "Have you heard about Madam Liliana?"

Mikhail frowned but immediately remembered her. "Isn't she the vice principal of the Imperial University?"

Edgar smiled while sharing the information. "Guess what." He said. "She is coming for the screening in the City of Sparrows."

Mikhail's brow drew together as he had a hard time believing it.

"Why is someone of her level coming here?" He turned to look at Kevin. "Is she here for him?"

"Probably." Kevin replied. "I am special."

"It's not confirmed." Edgar replied. "We were just asked to increase the security for her."

Mikhail nodded and began eating his food without asking anything else.

The thought of Madam Liliana still lingered in his mind.
