Chapter 8 - Chapter Eight: Absolute Judgment Begins

The sky did not close.

It remained cracked.

Watching.

Waiting.

The massive eye hovered above the crimson clouds, unblinking, cold, and endless. Its presence pressed down on the entire forest like an invisible mountain.

Kael stood beneath it, blood still dripping from his hand, breathing slow and steady.

[Countdown: 9 Hours 52 Minutes Until Erasure]

He looked at the timer and smirked.

"So that's how it is now."

No more survival timer.

No more hidden threats.

Just a clear message.

You will die in ten hours.

Kael stretched his injured arm slightly, ancient energy slowly repairing the wound. The pain was still there, but it felt distant now—like something his body had learned to ignore.

Above him, the eye pulsed.

The system spoke again.

[Absolute Judgment has begun]

The air trembled.

[All regional entities are authorized to eliminate the anomaly]

Kael sighed.

"So everyone is coming for me now."

The ground shook.

But this time—

It wasn't monsters.

It was the world itself reacting.

The trees around him started to rot instantly, their leaves turning black and falling to the ground like ash. The soil cracked, spreading dark lines across the earth.

Reality was changing.

Adapting.

Trying to reject him.

[World Rejection Protocol Activated]

Kael raised an eyebrow.

"…Now the world hates me too."

The system responded immediately.

[Anomalies cannot coexist with system-controlled reality]

Kael laughed quietly.

"That sounds like a you problem."

Then something fell from the sky.

A beam of white light.

Fast.

Violent.

It crashed into the forest a few hundred meters away, shaking the entire ground.

BOOM.

Kael turned toward the explosion.

Smoke rose into the air.

Another beam fell.

Then another.

Then another.

[Judgment Weapons Deployed]

Kael's smile slowly faded.

"…Weapons?"

The smoke cleared.

And Kael saw them.

Three massive structures stood where the beams had landed.

Tower-like constructs made of glowing white metal and black stone, covered in rotating system symbols. Energy pulsed through them like veins, humming with destructive power.

[Judgment Towers Activated]

[Function: Area Purification]

Kael stared at them.

"Purification…"

The system spoke coldly.

[All anomalies within range will be erased]

The towers began to glow brighter.

Energy gathered at their tips.

Kael's instincts screamed.

He jumped back just as a beam of pure white energy fired from one of the towers.

The ground where he stood vanished instantly.

Not destroyed.

Erased.

Gone.

Like it never existed.

Kael landed on a broken tree, eyes widening slightly.

"…That's dangerous."

The second tower fired.

Another beam tore through the forest, cutting trees, stone, and earth out of existence.

The third tower locked onto him.

[Target Locked]

Kael clicked his tongue.

"Of course it did."

The beam fired.

Kael ran.

Fast.

Faster than before.

Ancient energy surged through his legs, pushing his body beyond normal limits as he dodged another erasing beam.

The forest behind him disappeared piece by piece.

The towers kept firing.

Precise.

Relentless.

No hesitation.

Kael jumped over a collapsing ridge, landing on cracked ground as another beam nearly erased his leg.

He stopped for a moment, breathing heavily.

"…Running won't work."

The system responded instantly.

[Correct]

Kael looked toward the towers again.

Then smiled.

"Then I'll destroy them."

Ancient energy flared around him.

Dark and unstable.

Rule Breaker activated.

Energy Devourer activated.

System Sever activated.

The air around Kael distorted.

The ground cracked beneath his feet.

The towers fired again.

Kael didn't move.

Instead—

He ran straight toward them.

The beam came down.

Kael jumped through it.

The edge of the beam grazed his shoulder, erasing part of his sleeve and burning his skin instantly.

He landed hard but kept moving.

Closer.

Closer.

The first tower rotated, preparing another shot.

Kael leaped into the air.

And slammed his hand into the tower's surface.

"Let's see if you can be erased too."

System Sever activated.

Dark energy spread across the tower like cracks in glass.

The system reacted immediately.

[Warning: Judgment Tower Under Attack]

The tower fired energy into Kael's body, trying to push him away.

Kael gritted his teeth.

"Not enough."

Energy Devourer activated.

The tower's energy began flowing into him instead.

The glowing symbols flickered.

Cracks spread across the structure.

The sky eye pulsed violently.

[System Integrity: 35%… 33%…]

Kael laughed.

"That's right."

The tower trembled.

Then exploded.

A massive shockwave spread across the forest.

The first Judgment Tower collapsed into dust.

[Judgment Tower Destroyed]

Kael dropped to the ground, breathing heavily.

Two towers remained.

The sky darkened further.

The system spoke again.

Cold.

Angry.

[Anomaly resistance increasing]

Kael looked up.

"Now you're worried."

The second and third towers began charging simultaneously.

Energy gathered.

Stronger than before.

[Overload Judgment Preparing]

Kael wiped blood from his mouth and smiled.

"Good."

Ancient energy burned around him again.

"Send more."

The beams fired.

And Kael ran toward them once more.

Because now—

He wasn't trying to survive.

He was trying to destroy the system itself.

And the countdown kept ticking.

[Countdown: 9 Hours 03 Minutes Until Erasure]

The war had only just begun.
