Artifacts.
Artifacts are powerful relics with devastating abilities. You know, when the era of catastrophes began and humanity began to develop abilities, other strange phenomena also began to emerge in the world.
Areas where the laws of physics seemed to have stopped working. Entire places formed by spatial distortions and without any logic, looking more like a hallucination than a real scenario.
These zones are nowadays known as danger zones.
Entire biomes that were either completely altered, or simply emerged overnight. A new vegetation, new species and above all, new dangerous.
Animals that evolved and became the creatures that today terrorize humanity. Animals that have not evolved and to this day remain preserved as a source of food. Animals that have evolved, have not become creatures, and remain a mystery to science to this day.
The emergence of creatures, uncontrolled monsters whose only goal is to hunt and kill humans, monsters that appeared overnight, continued to evolve and terrorize humanity for more than a thousand years.
And obviously, there was also the emergence of artifacts.
Artifacts are objects with supernatural powers. How? No one knows. They simply came out of nowhere during the third catastrophe and continued to emerge over time.
What was their real power? How and why did they start to emerge? Was there any way to replicate them perfectly? These and many other questions had already been asked, and to this day remained unanswered.
Don't forget this information.
Tommy yawned while packing his things.
Math class was finally over and now he could finally go home.
"I'm glad there are only a few months left for this hell to end..." Tommy thought while smiling to himself.
There were only a few months left for him to finish middle school, as well as a few months for him to finally turn 15 and also a few months to finally start high school.
In other words, there was little left for Tommy to finally go on vacation and be able to spend his days playing without having anything to worry about.
Tommy didn't hate school, he just didn't like school. There was a subtle difference. He liked to meet his friends at school and also liked the classes of some teachers, but essentially, he didn't like the school.
It's almost the same dilemma of a person who likes chocolate but doesn't like chocolate cake. No, better not use this example, this is simply pure idiocy and contradiction.
But anyway, Tommy was leaving now.
After arranging his materials, he left the classroom and started his way through the more or less empty corridors towards the exit.
Steven, Tarah, Skylar and Benny had already left some time ago. They had an activity to do, and they even invited Tommy to go, but since he didn't like going to places he knew would have a lot of people, he simply refused the invitation.
For him, the best thing would be to simply go home while he could.
When he left, the first thing that received him was the orange sky of the sunset and a soft breeze that made his hair sway. An ideal climate in his view.
Unfortunately, Tommy hadn't brought his skateboard, so he would have to continue on foot. Not that it really bothered, but it was more fun to skate home.
And then, Tommy continued his way home.
While walking, he stopped in a familiar place. The same abandoned building where he and Rosalina had found the dark man. And speaking about her, it's been a while since she and Tommy talked.
Since she started living with her uncle and decided that she would enter the Alter institute, she spent most of her time training and Tommy could only talk to her by messages.
Not that it was something really bad, but he really wanted to see her again and maybe have some other crazy adventure with her.
And speaking about adventures....
"Everything has been so boring lately..."
Since he and Rosa put Jim 6 feet under the ground, nothing really interesting had happened. No creature attack, no new mystery to unravel, no pre-teen with mental problems to defeat, nothing.
Everything just got... boring. Tommy wasn't a big fan of adrenaline, but after that experience, he hoped to have others as exciting as the first one.
It had been 1 year, and yet nothing interesting happened to him. That was somehow disappointing.
"Hmm? " Tommy murmured confused when he saw that he had stepped on something strange.
Looking down, under the sole of his shoes, he saw that he had stepped on a... necklace?
It was a kind of silver necklace with a red stone in the center. A shiny stone, crimson red and very flashy too.
Looking around, Tommy saw that the street was practically empty and there was no sign of any possible owner of the necklace. Just him and that strange necklace.
"How much is this worth? " Tommy asked himself while staring at the necklace.
That precious stone should be worth something. After all, it was a bright red stone, and the necklace was made of silver, so it should be worth something. Maybe about 347.89 dollars.
Tommy just shrugged while putting the necklace in his pocket. He would later go to a jewelry store to find out how much the necklace was worth and then sell it and use the money to make something.
Maybe buy games. Maybe buy ice cream. Or maybe buy a gift for his sister's birthday, who the birthday was on the same day as him.
Without much to do, Tommy just continued his way towards his house.
Little did Tommy know that this necklace would be the main reason for many problems that he would have to solve later.
After all, he asked for adventures, and that necklace would certainly deliver an adventure, an adventure to never forget.
