Chapter 2 - 2. where

The people who saw her fall suddenly became hysterical.

Marella felt intense pain throughout her body. Her chest felt like it was being crushed as water entered her blood vessels and respiratory tract. Was she going to die now? Marella begged for mercy; she hadn't had a chance to punch Noel as hard as she could yet. Suddenly, her legs felt trapped. Scales began to appear on her skin, new flesh grew between her legs, and excruciating pain overwhelmed her. The water around her turned red with her blood. She screamed in pain, feeling as if her legs were broken. Her bones began to grow into a tail, while new flesh covered in beautiful scales appeared. Marella screamed as her clothes tore away from her body. She couldn't take it anymore; the pain and agony were too much to bear. Slowly, she lost consciousness, her eyes closed, her limp body swept away by the sea water, then fell to the ground.

As Marella's body fell to the ground, a strong hand caught her. Something lifted Marella's body and carried her away, swimming.

Marella slowly opened her eyes, looking around at her unfamiliar surroundings. Wait, she moved her hand, feeling like she was touching water. She saw her hair move as her body rose from something soft, thin, and long like a sheet, with something like a soft mattress underneath her. Suddenly, someone entered. Half of his body was a fish tail, dark blue, dark purple, and bright green with sharp tips, while the other half was human with a muscular body and no clothes. The man approached Marella, his eyes as dark as night and his hair jet black, accompanied by an intimidating, piercing gaze.

Marella's heart was pounding. After the misfortune of seeing her fiancé kissing someone else, falling into the sea, feeling pain all over her body, now she was stranded in a strange place with a creepy creature resembling a fish ghost!

Marella was terrified. She tried to get up but couldn't move or lift one of her legs. Slowly, she looked down. "AAAAAAAAAAA!" Marella screamed hysterically when she saw that her beautiful legs were gone, replaced by a pink fish tail with charming baby blue patterns and several pearl decorations at the end. And one more thing that surprised her: where were her clothes?

Marella saw the seaweed and pulled it until some of it came out, then tied it around her chest to cover it. Marella stared at the man with a demanding look, "Who are you?!" she asked, confusing the man. The man brought his face close to Marella's. Honestly, the man's face was very handsome, even more so than Noel's. If Noel was like a Korean oppa, the man in front of her was like a handsome mafia boss in the novels with the Caucasian visuals that Marella often saw on Mommy Luna's phone. Black hair, eyes as dark as night, a strong jawline, pale white skin, a straight nose, thick eyebrows, and sharp, intimidating eyes.

Marella panicked, pushing the man or creature away with her tail. However, the man did not fall, only stepping back slightly to create some distance between them. "What's wrong with you?" asked the man in a different language. Marella was confused, how could she possibly understand what the man in front of her had just said.

"Huh, why am I here? Who are you? Where am I?" Marella asked repeatedly, she needed an explanation now. Suddenly Marella covered her mouth. Oh my god, what language is that? And why did she suddenly understand what the man was saying?

The man smiled crookedly. "I should be the one asking, what business does a mermaid have in the siren's territory?" said the man with a sharp gaze that made Marella feel intimidated. She backed away as the man began to approach her again.

Huh? Mermaid? Siren? She was a mermaid? And the man was a siren? Oh, Marella remembered when she had jokingly performed a ritual to become a mermaid and fallen off the ship, sinking into the depths of the Black Sea. Oh my God, she thought it was just a joke to pass the time.

Why was she now really a mermaid? She didn't want this! She just wanted to go home. It was okay if Noel liked another girl, as long as she could go home now. This was terrible.

The man grabbed Marella's chin. "Are you an intruder?" the man accused coldly.

Marella quickly shook her head. Seriously, she didn't even know where she was now, but this man was accusing her of being an intruder. "Let go of my hand!" Marella jerked the man's hand away from her face.

The man's expression hardened. "Don't be insolent, I can punish you anytime," said the man arrogantly with an expressionless face.

Heh, this man talks a big game! He doesn't know that Marella is the daughter of a wealthy family. If she wanted to, Marella could also put this man in jail on charges of harassment and kidnapping. "Hey, fish demon, you haven't answered my question. Where am I?" Marella asked.

The man drew closer, gripping Marella's arms, and staring intently at the girl. "Siren Castile," replied the man. Marella immediately tensed up. So she was in the Siren Palace. As far as she knew, Sirens were creatures similar to Mermaids, but different. Mermaids were beautiful creatures full of happiness and beauty, while Sirens had no hearts, killed each other, were terrifying, and were far from beautiful.

But for some reason, the Siren in front of her was different. In fact, she was very beautiful. But, oh, Marella's love for handsome men emerged, seeing the handsomeness of the man in front of her who had approached her face several times.

Alright, Marella must not be hypnotized by the beauty of this siren. She must find a way to return and restore her legs to their original state. She does not want to stay here forever with legs like this.

The siren glanced at Marella once, then turned and swam towards the exit of the room made of sea stone. "Hey, where are you going?" asked Marella, but the man ignored her. Without a word, without a promise, without an explanation, only the sound of the door closing tightly, leaving a silence hanging in the water. "Hey! Are you seriously leaving me?" Marella exclaimed, staring at the sea door that had just closed. Her mouth hung open halfway, then she slumped onto the mattress in resignation, staring at the dark ceiling of the room, reflecting a blurry shadow. It seemed like this place was made of blue obsidian stone.

"He didn't feed me, he didn't give me any instructions, what kind of guy is that?" Marella muttered in human language. She sighed and cursed silently, staring at her beautiful tail, which felt unfamiliar. "I guess I was wrong to try the internet ritual."

A few moments passed, and Marella just sat quietly, occasionally cursing and calling out the names of all the animals in the zoo in an annoyed tone. She had tried to swim, but unfortunately, Marella couldn't swim. She felt like a fool who didn't even know how to walk, and that made her a little depressed. If she couldn't swim, how could she possibly get home and out of here?

When she still had legs, she was completely against swimming because she didn't know how. Several times she drowned while practicing with her private swimming instructor in the pool at home, but the results were still nil. She still couldn't swim. Her frustration peaked, especially because the man had locked the door from the outside. The doors here were different from those in the human world, made of stone and seaweed that were tightly woven together. Marella was completely helpless, even screaming for help was futile. The man left her without a word, without an explanation, without any certainty that she would be able to leave this strange place.

But Marella would never give up. She looked left and right, hoping to find a way out. She dragged herself to the edge of the bed, then slowly dropped herself as if releasing an object into water. It didn't hurt as much as when she fell in her room; this time she descended to the floor with gravity that felt slow.

Accidentally, Marella's hair got caught on a shell figurine, knocking it over. She looked at the figurine closely. Inside was a blurry painting, not as sharp as the HD photos on her expensive cell phone camera. Even so, she could still recognize some of the people in it, including the annoying man from earlier with two adults of the opposite gender beside him.

Suddenly, the door opened. Marella quickly returned the figurine to its place, then hurriedly got up. Unfortunately, she forgot that she had no legs. She fell, her forehead hitting the floor, although it didn't hurt because her slow movements were cushioned by the water. The man, with a piercing gaze, swam toward Marella after closing the door. Quickly, the man moved his tail toward Marella. "What are you doing?" he asked in an annoyed tone, glaring sharply at her.

Marella turned quickly toward the man.

"Nothing, I just want to find mosquitoes," replied Marella, causing the man to stare at her in confusion. Ah, how foolish Marella was! There were no mosquitoes in the sea like there were on dry land. Her silly remark made the man look at her suspiciously. Feeling threatened, Marella supported herself with her hands on the floor and mattress until she was standing on her tail, then moved her hands in the water while jumping up and down, trying hard to lift her body back onto the mattress.

The man was still watching what Marella was doing with a stern face. His eyebrow raised, "You can't swim?" he asked, as if reading Marella's mind. Marella turned her head with furrowed brows, stopping when she managed to stand up, though she was still holding onto the strange mattress that she didn't know what it was made of. The man smiled cynically, "Sneaking in an intruder who can't swim is proof that the Mermaid race is stupid," he sneered. For some reason, those rude words made Marella angry.

Marella picked up a shell nearby and threw it hard at the man. Fortunately, the man deftly dodged it. "We are not stupid, just so you know!" Marella exclaimed angrily, her blue eyes moving like waves, sweeping her retinas quickly. However, Marella quickly came to her senses and the color of her retinas returned to normal. She wondered why she was angry. Wasn't she human, not a mermaid? It must be the spell from that website. Damn it, she shouldn't have done that.

The man chuckled with a condescending smile, leaning toward Marella. Marella instinctively moved away, but her body was held back by the bed. Their faces were inches apart. "Come with me," the man ordered, moving away from Marella and swimming toward the exit. Marella remained where she was, sitting on the bed and staring at the man's back. The man stopped swimming and turned around, finding Marella still in her place with a confused expression. "What? Do you need me to help you swim?" he asked condescendingly, making Marella narrow her eyes in annoyance.

She didn't like being looked down on. She shook her head, then moved to the end of the mattress. She closed her eyes, took a breath—

"H-hey! Where are you taking me?" Marella asked because the man suddenly grabbed her body. She was quite surprised by the man's swimming speed, which made her dizzy. Marella looked around and saw that it was an elegant and luxurious room, like ruins or a sunken building at the bottom of the sea. There wasn't much lighting in the room, but it was enough to see the contents of the room. Marella could see that the building was made of blue sea obsidian with various shades of blue, from light to dark, dominated by black coral, as well as stone doors and pillars that looked like hard, scaly skin.

A man with a black fish tail approached and bowed before Eldoris. Marella hid behind the man who had been holding her waist, unwilling to seek further trouble with the other fish demons.

The man handed her a piece of fabric resembling a dark blue-gray skirt with white accents. After handing it over, the man bowed respectfully and left. To Marella, the fabric looked like waste from a textile factory. The man pulled Marella forward. "That's rude," Marella protested.

The man held the skirt in front of Marella. "Put it on," he ordered.

Marella stared strangely at the skirt, which looked like several pieces of fabric sewn together at the bottom. "Why would I wear that weird thing?" said Marella, refusing. She was sure the fabric came from waste in the sea, completely unsuitable for her fashion sense.

The man pulled Marella towards him, then put the skirt on her over her head. When Marella tried to protest, the man quickly stuffed her mouth with moss or whatever was growing around them. "Ugh, yuck, that's disgusting!" Marella spat as she spit the moss out of her mouth. Annoyed, Marella pointed at the man's face, "What do you want, huh? Ugh, it's disgusting!", she grumbled angrily.

The man didn't pay much attention to Marella's words, maintaining his cold expression. "Talk too many," he said briefly as he pulled Marella's waist back and took her swimming away.
