Keifer's POV
I was staring at my phone, the second one I had bought just for her. My fingers hovered over the screen, not because I wasn't confident… but because I didn't want to mess up. Not now. Not ever.
I had sent her the messages.
"My life, how are you?"
"Jasper Jean Mariano I love…"
And now… I was waiting. Waiting for a reaction, waiting for her to notice, waiting for the tiny spark I knew I had left in her heart.
I leaned back in my chair, dark eyes scanning the room around me, but my mind wasn't there. My mind was on her.
My Jay.
My wife.
My life.
My future Mrs. Watson.
My freaking universe.
Even here, far away, I felt the pull of her presence, like she was in the room with me, breathing the same air, looking at the same sun, unaware that I was thinking of her every second.
I exhaled slowly, gripping the phone tighter.
The messages… were simple. But the weight behind them… the truth I couldn't say out loud… it was enough to make my chest ache.
She didn't know it was me. She didn't know my voice, my face, my everything was behind those words. And that… almost hurt worse than any rejection ever could.
But I didn't care.
I wouldn't wait forever. I had to know. I had to see if she still thought of me, even a little.
My thumb hovered over the screen again. I could type something. Just a small word. A smile. A tease.
But I didn't.
I just stared at the name saved on her phone, imagining her opening it, reading it, and feeling… something.
She save my name Gagonbaliw
I let out a low, humorless laugh.
Crazy. Wild. Dangerous. Just like you, my Jay.
Her name was in my mind constantly. Her face, her smile, her eyes, her voice… every little thing I had memorized. Every moment we had spent together.
Even from far away… I was hers. And I didn't care if she knew it yet or not.
I whispered under my breath, almost like a prayer.
"My Jay… you have no idea what I feel. My wife, my life, my universe… you don't know yet. But you will."
I set the phone down, staring at the wall, dark and quiet. My mind was racing. My heart was racing. Every beat of it was her name, every thought of her was mine, and I knew…
No matter what, she couldn't escape me.
