Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Getting Food now has extra steps with a kid

Flinging the phone in his hand down, Min kyu's stomach echoed the sound of hunger causing him to rub it while frowning.

" It's time for dinner."

Facing his head to the idiot that hasn't moved all day, save for him drawing and his legs kicking in the air. Min Kyu sadly interrupts him from his little bubble to ask.

"Any dinner idea. " What does the kid usually eat anyways?

Ji woo raised his head answering. "Crushed up noodles."

Min Kyu facepalmed. 'Nope shouldn't have asked.'

Opening up a delivery app to hand to the kid, he encouraged Ji woo to "pick anything."

Min Kyu was not picky; he ate whatever was handed to him. Ji Woo is a different story on the other hand.

Scrolling through Ji Woo repeatedly peeked at him like he was asking Min kyu was it okay to pick something, a minute later he pressed his finger on a restaurant website.

Checking out the shop it turned out to be a winter soup place offering food exclusively in the winter time.

Ji woo secretly clicked on a picture of potato soup silently nudging Min Kyu on what he wanted.

'I thought kids like him would pick french fries and burgers.' Min Kyu chalked it up to be because it was pretty cold, and Ji woo wanted warm food.

Setting on a simple order of vegetable soup for himself and ji woo potato soup with a side of bread sticks.

Throwing his school jacket around his shoulders to go receive the food, he twisted the door knob to head out but a tug on his clothes stopped him.

"Yeah, what do you want?"

Ji woo twiddled his fingers, not speaking.

"Spit it out." Min Kyu impatiently commanded he didn't want the driver to think they didn't want to pick up the food. They wouldn't be able to get a refund.

Ji Woo stuttered. " I-can- Can I come with you"

No objection was raised by the teen from the request. "Let's go." Min Kyu opened the door then shut it.

Purseing his mouth he remembered that it was cold outside and Ji Woo was just wearing a thin t-shirt.

'This is not going to work.'

Not wanting to take his words back, Min Kyu scavenged all the clothes he folded today, and hoisted Ji Woo's arms straight up in the air.

"Hold your breath."

This heads up would have been good if it was before the fact the child's face was already covered by a heavy weight on his head, his vision turning black.

On the other side of the two, Min Kyu one by one roughly dressed Him in whatever he could find, more precisely 10 shirts and a scarf.

A disoriented Ji Woo dressed in a bundle of clothes had a confused ball of cuteness energy that could make every auntie in their radius want to pinch his face.

"Wha la now you're good to go."

With large eyes being the only thing visible from below, Ji woo nodded, his cowlick strand swaying with his head.

Going to meet the delivery men in front of the school since this room was hidden. The walk is not long but still took a couple of minutes getting from point A to point B.

On the way, Min Kyu got followed around by a little duckling walking wherever he was going.

He occasionally looked back toward Ji Woo to know he was following his pace.

The combinations of both of them had people getting the urge to stare at them, an adorable kid and delinquent. The normal rebel air Min Kyu had was instantly dissolved.

It didn't have any intimidation anymore, but it was quite comical.

The delivery man was easy to spot, every 2 seconds checking his phone, visibly irritated from waiting. Min Kyu, not anymore thrilled, got straight into it asking.

"can i get order number ###."

"Yes, wait a moment."

The delivery man went into the large truck of the scooter, procuring a small bag of warm food. Min Kyu stretched out his hand but under him he felt Ji Woo was doing the same thing.

Retracting his hand, Min Kyu signaled the driver to give it to Ji Woo with his eyes. The driver sighed but did as he was asked.

"Thank You Sir." Ji Woo bowed, holding the food tightly in two hands.

Used to customers that act less respectful, the man patted Ji Woo's head lightly. "No problem little customer ."

With more orders still to be delivered, the man left in a hurry after praising Ji woo, Min Kyu earlier had the game plan to eat at the room but…..

GRUMBLE: Min Kyu stomach.

GRUMBLE: Ji Woo stomach.

Min Kyu. "... I guess we are eating here."

Ji Woo blushed, turning his head down from Min Kyu's view. Chuckling at his embarrassment, Min Kyu sat down on a bench and patted the seat next to him.

"Sit down." The hair that was always in disorder got messier by the wind's strong blow. Surprisingly it didn't give him a messy appearance, but a boyish charm of youth, the invite on his lips giving the listener a soothing sensation.

Not moving, Ji Woo stared closely at him as if trying to somehow etch this moment in his memory.

Min Kyu frowned. "what are you staring at?" Come here."

Startled, he scrambled to get on the bench and gave the food to Min Kyu to open.

Min Kyu settled the items in between the two of them and opened the lid up, the steam that was before contained in the packaging had found release and rose up sending the aroma of spices in the air.

The potato soup had soft chunks of potato along with parsley sprinkled on top, its vibrant colors really making one's appetite wet.

"Be careful."

Warning Ji woo that the food was still hot he placed the soup on his lap with napkins under so the heat wouldn't be painful. Focusing on his own soup he scooped up a bite, moving it down .

"Cheers."

Copying him, Ji Woo holds up his own spoon, clicking it with Min Kyu's then opening his mouth wide to take a large chump.

Watching Ji Woo's reaction, his legs kicking and his cheeks filling up like a chipmunk Min Kyu could tell that he loved the food.

Holding his spoon in his mouth Min Kyu thought. 'Mmm, it's pretty good, just a little sweet for my taste.'

It may be the carrots but he couldn't complain in this weather, soup was the best thing to eat.

They both quietly ate, Ji Woo almost dunking his face in his bowl from how fast he was eating, Min kyu burped, finishing his food.

"Ah that was good, time to get you home I need to go back to the dorm eh"

Min Kyu only now noticed that Ji Woo's nose and ears had turned red from the cold. This wouldn't have happened if he kept the scarf on but he was eating earlier.

Bending over to fix the scarf, he complained. "Jeez, kids are so delicate."

It was dark outside unlike when the sun was setting. Ji woo was terrified he would get lost, so he held on to Min Kyu's clothes.

Min kyu wouldn't have minded but ji woo is as slow as a turtle, the teen walking at his normal pace would have the kid face planting on the cold pavement and he doesn't want to visit the hospital late at night.

In the room, Min Kyu gathered his school bag while ji woo was getting ready for bed already laying down, The person departing glared at the paper thin futon.

Ji Woo let out a chipmunks yelp when he was knocked off his sitting position by something heavy.

"Ah." grabbing the material he recognized it was Min Kyu's coat.

"You keep it for now, don't lose it or you're done for. "

Min kyu opened the door looking into the room one last time,

Ji Woo waved him goodbye. The room that was small and crowded seemed too big. Now it was only Ji Woo's small figure in there, it looked particularly empty and lonely.

Min kyu's throat became tight, he swallowed thickly. "good night "

Turning off the lights, the door closed behind him, Ji Woo yelped again quickly covering his head with the coat trembling slightly.

Min Kyu was already gone but Ji Woo still said . "Dont turn off the lights." Not having the guts to walk the distance he waited for sleep to come take him.

Walking in the empty streets, Min kyu's ears caught wind of the news that a person had kidnapped a small boy. Min kyu s listened to that screen with rapt attention and held his head as if he had a headache.

" leaving a child alone is not good."

'I can kiss goodbye to my allowance money since I also need a way to communicate with the kid'

He mumbled under his breath while writing on his phone. " toothbrush, teeth paste, walkie-talkies since he doesn't have internet, blankets, kids clothes, -"

Randomly a person called him out from the alley way. " Hey aren't you our little Min kyu, come here." Snapping out he recognized It was one of his middle school friends, raising his hand Min Kyu acknowledged him.

"What's up."

"I haven't seen you in ages come and smoke with us like in middle school."

Min kyu nodded his head reaching his hand out to take the offered cigarette and lighter.

Holding the cigarette in his mouth he lit it up with the given lighter, covering the flame from being turned off with his hand.

Taking a long drag Min Kyu let out a puff of smoke that flew up. He looked up at the smoke disappearing as it got further in the air.

In a moment the sounds of his friends chatting felt like background noise as he grimaced in his mind.

'Bitter.'

The soup earlier was better.

'Props to the kid at choosing a good place to eat i guess.' The thought made Min Kyu have a quiet chuckle.
