Chapter 270: Who is Hidenori Tabata's Father?
....
What did Yamaguchi Daifuku have to fear?
Taking just one punch to get this over with and avoid any further posturing—it was actually a pretty good deal.
Hearing his agreement, Seito gave his wrist a casual twist. Meanwhile, the students of Class E looked on with the eager expressions of people who lived for drama.
Shizuka Hiratsuka, however, was startled.
"Kid, take it easy!" she warned. If Seito actually punched Yamaguchi to death, she'd have a literal homicide on her hands.
"Don't worry," Seito replied, giving her a reassuring look. Shizuka relaxed, if only a little.
Yamaguchi tensed every muscle in his body, his expression grim as he faced Seito.
"Bring it on!"
WHOOSH!
Seito's silhouette vanished instantly!
Before Yamaguchi could even register a movement, Seito appeared directly behind him. Clenching his right fist, Seito delivered a sharp crack to the man's head.
BAM!
A crisp sound echoed through the entire classroom. The students stared blankly as Yamaguchi's eyes rolled back into his head, and he collapsed onto the floor.
"That..."
Shizuka was the first to snap out of it. She asked frantically, "Kid, you didn't actually kill him, did you?"
"How is that possible?" Seito waved a hand dismissively. "I used less than a billionth of my strength. He's fine."
Well then...
The class was speechless. They couldn't help but feel like Seito was "humble-bragging." A billionth of his strength? Though, considering who he was, that was probably an overestimate—it was likely even less.
"Alright, someone carry him to the infirmary," Shizuka sighed.
"No problem."
Seito grabbed Yamaguchi with one hand and vanished via Spatial Movement. A few seconds later—Zip!—he was back in his seat as if he'd never left.
Shizuka gave a deadpan stare to the lingering Class E boys. "What? You lot still here?"
"Ahem, we're leaving right now!" The crowd scrambled out of Class D.
Almost immediately, a sharp voice rang out from the hallway.
"Kitahara Iori! Hidenori Tabata! Both of you, go stand in the faculty office! Everyone else, stand in the hallway until morning self-study is over!"
That was unmistakably Mafuyu Kirisu's voice. She was well within her rights; Iori and Hidenori had been completely out of line—one arriving late, the other inciting a riot. They needed to reflect!
"Ehh?! No way!"
"Ugh... we didn't even get to see the full show and we're punished. Our luck is trash."
"Whatever, at least we're better off than Iori and the other guy."
The noise outside soon faded as the two troublemakers were hauled off. Shizuka scanned her class once more.
"Ahem. Mr. Yamaguchi is new to Sobu High, so everyone... try to exercise some restraint."
Class D was now a room full of superhumans. If they didn't hold back, Yamaguchi Daifuku would eventually be scared to death.
"Don't worry, Shizuka-sensei," Seito said with a smirk. "He'll get used to this lifestyle soon enough."
Shizuka: "..."
Everyone else: "..."
Well then... They knew Seito was telling the truth, but why did it sound so ominous?
Time flew by, and soon it was the lunch break.
Just as Seito was about to gather Shouko, Yui, and Yukino to head out, a figure burst through the back door and skidded into a kneeling position right in front of him.
"Seito! You can't forget about your brother!" Hidenori Tabata wailed, looking like he was about to cry.
Seito looked down at him with a bizarre expression. "What now?"
"Iori... the powers Iori has... you helped him manifest them in reality, didn't you?"
Hidenori revealed his true motive.
Just moments ago, while he and Iori were chatting in class, Iori had suddenly manifested a skill from the God Domain.
Hidenori had been completely floored—and consumed by soul-crushing envy. He hadn't hesitated for a second; he'd sprinted straight to Class 1-D to beg Seito for a manifestation item.
Seito glanced toward the back door. Sure enough, it wasn't just Hidenori. Almost every student from Class E was hovering there, looking at him with eyes full of desperate hope.
"I don't have a problem giving them to you," Seito said.
"YES!" Hidenori broke into a radiant grin and lunged forward to grab Seito's right foot.
"Bro, I don't have anything valuable to give you, so let me lick your boots! It's the only way to show my gratitude!"
"Sure! Go ahead!" Seito chirped.
Hidenori: "..."
With a look of utter disbelief, Hidenori slowly looked up at Seito. Holy crap! You're actually going to let me lick your shoes?! Are we even brothers?!
Seito remained expressionless. Since this weirdo made such a perverted request, why wouldn't he fulfill it? "Come on, 'bro.' Dig in." Seito lifted his foot.
"Haha... I was just kidding." Hidenori scratched his head awkwardly. It was just a joke—did he have to take it so seriously?
"Tch." Seito clicked his tongue and put his foot down. "Stop playing around. Let's go to Class E and talk."
Hidenori, despite having his "face stepped on," didn't mind at all. The way he looked at Seito now was how one might look at their own biological father.
The two left Class D. The moment the Class E students heard Seito agree, they had scrambled back to their own desks. Seito entered the room to find everyone sitting as prim and proper as kindergarteners.
"Ahem. Hidenori, you handle the boys. I'll take care of the girls." Seito pulled out a handful of Divinity Orbs and handed them to Hidenori. These were enough to grant the "Path to Godhood" to all the guys.
"On it!" Hidenori clutched the orbs, his face glowing with excitement.
Seito scanned the female students, pulled out another batch of Divinity Orbs, and sat casually on the edge of the teacher's podium.
"Alright, everyone. Come up one by one and get yours."
