The sun was starting to go down when Franklin emerged from the cave entrance. He still wanted to keep his routine of only being active at night to not get found that easily.
His destination was the forest since he decided to live temporarily in that cave at least he needs to make himself some sort of resting place. A nest if we want to be honest.
He managed to make a few trips back and forth from the cave. Gathering branches, vines, and moss as building materials. Moss got added to the nest as the stuff that he's going to lie down on as it's soft and since the atmosphere is humid it's probably not going to die. The branches and the vines are the building blocks for the nest.
After finishing the foundation of it he realised that if he were to complete it as he wanted it to look than he is going to have to make more trips to the forest.
Having two extra limbs is pretty handy, since he can use his wing arms to grab things as well, gathering the materials wasn't that hard.
But than he realised that he shouldn't make something to grand because he would probably have to leave at some point because of the hunters.
The nest he has built looks more like a mattress than a nest since he built it inside of a dip in the ground. But it serves it's purpose of a spot where he can rest.
After he got some what done whit it where he can comfortably lay down on it and sleep he decided to go out and get a closer look at the surrounding area.
Since he decided to stay here for the time being looking around the area is something that needs to be done sooner rather than later.
He already knows the forest somewhat that is in front of the mountain.
So he decided to adventure to the right since the forest seems to end that way maybe he can find something interesting.
It only took a little bit of flying to arrive at the forests edge. It looks like a swamp so it's not interesting at all. The only good thing he gathered from coming here is the fact that because it's a swamp like the tree are scattered around, and there are a lot more open spaces so the monsters can't hide that well and are easier to spot.
The only thing that is worrying him is if hes memory is correct then an elder dragon is living somewhere in it. And currently he doesn't really want to find out if he is correct about it.
After a little bit of time flying around he decided to go the opposite direction hopefully there's something worth finding that way.
After passing his cave and continuing in that direction after a while he started to see some lights inside the forest and at the edge of the three line. He landed on one of the taler trees to not get closer and to just observe from the distance. Whiteout getting closer he quickly figured out what it was. A hunter outpost a big one at that. Getting closer to it even at night was risky and dangerous. After watching for a little bit he went back to the cave. Making a mental note of which direction the outpost is so in the future he can easily avoid it.
But he couldn't shake the feeling that sooner or later he will meet them. A conflict is going to happen.
Before returning to the cave he decided to hunt. Since the sun hasn't come up yet it's safe right now.
Even though he doesn't need to eat that regularly then other monsters, he can hunt only a few times per week. Today he wants to hunt because the day before he skipped it to build his bed.
But he had a bad feeling right now. The forest was quite, even though it's night time there are always sounds of some kind. Of course there's times it went quieter but not this quiet where you can only hear the wind and nothing else.
His curiosity got the better of him and instead of returning he decided to investigate of what is happening.
While flying he did make sure to avoid the hunters outpost. While he was investigating he realised that not only he haven't seen any other monster yet hunting or walking to around. But not even sleeping ones either.
Even thou he hasn't been here for more than a few days but while out at night he did encounter what the forest sounded like. Sometimes there are bigger monster fighting eachother but that was mostly in the day time but it did happen on some accession that it happens at night. But the forest doesn't stay this quiet.
While still thinking about the possible reasons of why the forest was dead quiet he spotted a small group of Jagras running in a direction like they were scared. After a bit of thinking he decided to go into the direction where they came from maybe he will find the reason of why the forest was so quiet.
It didn't take long to find it. Because while flying the closer he gotten to a specific area he started to hear a fight happening.
Getting closer he saw a Glavenus in a destroyed clearing. It's a monster with a sword like tail. But the monster it was fighting was not a normal opponent, it was a Deviljo a monster known for it's hunger. It eats everything that it can kill because if it can't it will die of hunger. Before becoming a monster he liked to call it a angry pickle.
Here the hunters call it the destroyer of ecosystems because of it's hunger to eat anything that it can kill.
And from the looks of it the hunters don't know about it yet since they would have killed it already. Probably because it hasn't been here long enough for them to notice.
While he was thinking about this and that the fight has been finished because the Glavenus has left after getting the Deviljo knocked of it's feet. He only realised this because he felt eyes on himself. After looking where it's originated from he realised that since it couldn't kill the Glavenus it has set his eyes on him.
Now he understands better why some people usually say that curiousity killed the cat. Because now he regrets being curious.
This predicament he got him self in is not the best. On one hand he could try to kill it but he still doesn't know if he himself could actually achieve it. And the thing with the frenzy virus isn't solved yet either. On the other hand he could just leave but the brute could simply follow him which was mostly unlikely. But he didn't wanted to find out. And the worst thing was that the sun decided to peek out on the horizon.
