Chapter 76 - Chapter 76: Don't Blame the Jiang Family for Oppressing the Small

Jiang Huai quickly hung up the phone and addressed Jiang Yucheng directly.

"President Jiang, I have a matter I need to handle first. Let Director Chen take over today's report."

With that, he tossed the laser pointer to a person sitting nearby and made a move to leave the conference room.

Jiang Yucheng's face darkened almost instantly, and he barked a cold command to stop him.

"Stand still! Who gave you permission to just walk out in the middle of a meeting?! During working hours, you"

Before Jiang Yucheng could finish his lecture, Jiang Huai simply turned his head and gave a flat reply.

"Xuxu was taken to the police station. I'm going to pick her up."

That single sentence caused Jiang Yucheng's next words to get stuck in his throat.

A second later, he stood up abruptly from his chair and announced with a frozen expression, "Today's meeting is suspended."

Then, he strode toward Jiang Huai. "I'm going with you."

The others in the conference room were left speechless.

The group instinctively turned to look at Jiang Yutong.

The company's Vice President had already half-risen because of the previous exchange. Meeting everyone's gaze, he gave a dry cough and stood up calmly.

"In that case... let's adjourn for now."

After Jiang Xuxu finished giving her statement truthfully, she waited for Lin Ruirui and Mother Lin. Soon, she heard the sound of several cars outside the station.

Everyone turned their heads instinctively, only to see several luxury cars parked at the entrance.

The car doors opened, and several men in sharp suits with solemn expressions stepped out. The two leading the group possessed an particularly overwhelming presence.

The party marched into the police station with aggressive momentum.

The Police Chief hurried over when he heard the commotion, nearly jumping out of his skin when he saw the arrivals.

"President Jiang? What brings you here so suddenly? Has something happened?"

The men at the front were none other than Jiang Yucheng and Jiang Huai, and following behind them was the legal team from the headquarters.

Given this displaywith the President of the Jianghai Group personally making an appearancethe Chief assumed it had to be a major case. He began frantically mentally reviewing every significant case involving the Jiang family that had cropped up recently.

But he had no clue. Absolutely no clue.

"I'm here to find..."

Jiang Yucheng was about to speak when Jiang Xuxu's voice rang out from inside, tinged with surprise.

"Dad? Brother?"

Even Jiang Xuxu was a little dazed by the sight.

Jiang Yucheng's eyes flickered the moment he saw her, and he quickly walked over. Jiang Huai was just as fast, and the two reached her in just a few steps.

"Are you all right?"

"Nobody bullied you, did they?"

The two spoke in unison, their eyes filled with unshielded concern.

Jiang Xuxu's heart softened slightly, and she shook her head obediently. "I'm fine."

"What exactly happened? Why are you in a police station?" Jiang Yucheng couldn't help but ask.

Observing their intense concern, the Police Chief realized the girl must be a member of the Jiang family. He immediately shot a questioning glance at a nearby officer.

Jiang Xuxu simply said, "I ran into a couple of thugs. I just came in to cooperate and give a statement."

Thugs!

Jiang Yucheng and Jiang Huai's eyes narrowed into dangerous arcs.

What kind of insignificant thugs dared to provoke their Xuxu?

The Police Chief's expression also turned grave.

"How outrageous! I didn't expect such a thing to happen in my jurisdiction. Don't worry, Miss Jiang, our station will handle those two thugs with the utmost severity."

Hearing this, Jiang Xuxu looked at the Chief. "I'm relieved to hear you say that. After all, those two were acting on orders. There might be further retaliation later on."

At the mention of retaliation, Jiang Yucheng's face darkened again. "What is this all about?"

At that moment, a junior officer brought over the incident file, and the Chief signaled for him to explain.

The officer gave a brief summary of the events.

Essentially, Lin Ruirui was suing the young master of the Qin family. To force her to drop the case, the Qin family had hired thugs to go to her home and threaten her. Jiang Xuxu had happened to be there and was caught up in it.

When the Police Chief heard that it involved the underage bullying incident that had been causing a stir online recently, his expression soured.

After all, the victim, Lin Ruirui, lived in his jurisdiction. After the incident gained traction, he had instructed the officers on duty to keep a close eye on the family. He hadn't expected the other party to actually dare to send people to their door.

"The Qin family?"

Rather than focusing on the Chief's concerns, Jiang Yucheng was more focused on the fact that the Qin family had caused his daughter to be threatened.

Jiang Huai was much better informed about the situation between the Qin family and Lin Ruirui because Jiang Su and Jiang Xuxu had used his personal legal team.

Since the two were willing to care about others' affairs, Jiang Huai hadn't stopped them.

He had originally thought that using the Jiang family's legal team as a deterrent would make the Qin family cautious. He hadn't expected them to have no scruples at all, even daring to bribe thugs to inflict harm...

In that case, they couldn't blame the Jiang family for using their weight to crush them.

The Qin family still had the energy to bully a little girl simply because they were too idle.

He would make sure they were kept very busy from now on.

The members of the Qin family likely never imagined that the thugs they hired wouldn't just fail to intimidate their targetthey would end up dragging a "Giant Figure" into the fray.

Setting aside how Jiang Yucheng would deal with the Qin family, Jiang Xuxu picked up Lin Ruirui and sent her home.

She had come today specifically to let the small infant spirit see Lin Ruirui one last time.

After having her vision temporarily opened, Lin Ruirui was stunned the moment she saw the [Little Ginseng Baby], which was only the size of a palm.

But once she realized this was the child that had only just begun to take form, her eyes instantly turned red.

The infant spirit couldn't speak, but it could sense the connection of blood. The moment Jiang Xuxu released it, it kicked its short little legs and floated over to Lin Ruirui, rubbing its small head against her cheek.

Without the shroud of resentment, the joy on the child's face was plainly visible.

Lin Ruirui carefully tried to cradle the small spirit in her hands. Feeling its deep attachment to her, tears began to fall uncontrollably.

She had once hated the existence of this child, and had even been relieved when it was gonebut all of that had stemmed from her loathing for Qin Hao.

Toward the child itself, she always felt a sense of debt.

"Xuxu... thank you. Thank you for being willing to bring it to see me."

Jiang Xuxu watched her and said, "It was originally a soul fetus that hadn't fully formed. It became a vengeful infant because it was nourished by the resentment in the school building. Now that those resentments have been cleared, its obsession with you still remains. Sending it to [Reincarnation] will likely still be difficult."

This was a problem Jiang Xuxu had only realized after seeing its [Little Ginseng Baby] form.

Normal infant spirits have at least reached a developed shape.

But this one was only palm-sized. Combined with its obsession with its mother, trying to force it into the cycle of [Reincarnation] would likely trigger a violent resistance.

Though Lin Ruirui's feelings for the child were complex, she couldn't bear to see it unable to move on.

"Then... what should I do?"

"If you are willing, you can keep it by your side in the manner of [Raising Little Ghosts]. As long as there are sufficient [Offerings] and guidance, its presence beside you might even bless your future with prosperity."

Lin Ruirui was visibly taken aback by Jiang Xuxu's words.

The spirit seemed to understand; it spun around happily and then snuggled back against Lin Ruirui.

Seeing Lin Ruirui fall into silence, Jiang Xuxu pursed her lips and added, "There is a second way: to forcibly sever the blood bond between you. Once it lets go of its attachment to you, it can smoothly enter [Reincarnation]."

Once again, there were two choices.

It all depended on which one Lin Ruirui would choose.
