Chapter 32 - Chapter 32 — After the Storm

The storm was gone. The desert had returned to silence. No wind. No movement. Only destruction remained. Broken ruins. Collapsed ground. Deep craters carved into the sand. The battlefield no longer looked like a dungeon. It looked like war had passed through it.

Kai lay in the center of it all. Still breathing. Barely. Every muscle in his body refused to move. Pain spread through him like fire.

"…That… hurt…"

Aria walked slowly toward him. Her steps were unsteady. Her injuries were serious—but not fatal. Her eyes, however—sharp. Focused. Watching. She stopped a few steps away from Kai.

"…You're hiding something."

Kai didn't respond. He stared at the sky.

"…Maybe."

Aria frowned. "That wasn't a normal fight."

"No B-Rank… no A-Rank hunter fights like that."

Her gaze shifted downward. To his shadow. It had returned to normal. Still. Silent. But she had seen it earlier. The way it moved. The way it protected him.

"…That power," she continued quietly, "that wasn't normal either."

Kai slowly turned his head. Their eyes met. For a moment—silence. Then he said calmly: "…You're still alive."

Aria blinked. "…What?"

Kai looked back at the sky. "That's what matters."

Not a denial. Not an answer. Aria exhaled. "…You're annoying." But she didn't push further. Not yet.

The System Rewards

Kai opened his system slowly. The screen flickered into view.

Level: 24

Strength: Increased

Agility: Increased

Vitality: Increased

New Item: [Abyss Core : Complete]

New Shadow Available: [Desert King]

Kai's eyes lingered on that last line. A king. Inside his shadow. Stronger than anything he had before. But also—more dangerous.

"…Not now," he muttered. He didn't have the energy to summon it. Not yet.

Outside the Dungeon

Far away… Outside the dungeon gate. The Hunter Association control team stood in silence. Their monitors flickered wildly. Mana readings spiked. Dropped. Then stabilized.

One analyst spoke nervously: "Dungeon energy… has completely collapsed."

Another looked at the data. "…It's cleared."

Silence filled the room. A-Rank dungeon. Cleared. Without a registered raid team. Without records. Without explanation.

Director Han stood in the center of the room. Calm. But his eyes—sharp. Focused. Calculating.

"…Erase the internal logs," he said quietly.

The staff hesitated. "Director… this is an A-Rank—"

"I said erase it."

His voice didn't rise. But the pressure behind it was undeniable.

"…Yes, sir."

The data began disappearing. Again. Just like before. But this time—It wasn't clean. Too many fluctuations. Too many anomalies. Too many traces. Han knew it.

"…We're running out of time."

Across the city—Inside the Iron Fang Guild headquarters—The Guild Master sat in silence. Another report had arrived. Incomplete. Distorted. But enough.

Report Fragment: Massive mana spike detected. Estimated: (A-Rank boss elimination). No official raid team. Association data restricted.

The Guild Master smiled slowly. "…So it's real." He leaned forward, eyes gleaming with interest. "And Han is hiding it." He tapped the table once. "Track every movement of the association."

"Especially him." His voice dropped. "And find… that hunter."

Kai slowly pushed himself up. His body protested. Every movement hurt.

Aria stepped forward. "Can you walk?"

"…I'll manage."

She extended her arm. Kai looked at it for a second. Then accepted it. She pulled him up. For a moment—They stood there. Two hunters. Survivors of something far beyond their level.

***

Aria glanced at him. "…You saved me."

Kai shrugged slightly. "You did the same."

She smirked faintly. "…Fair." A pause. Then—"…We're not done, are we?"

Kai looked toward the horizon of the dungeon. His shadow shifted slightly beneath him. "No." His voice was calm. Certain. "This is just the beginning."

Because now—he wasn't just hunting monsters. He was being watched. By guilds. By unknown forces. By the world itself. And the deeper he went—The harder it would be to stay hidden.

As they walked toward the exit—Kai felt it. Inside his shadow. The presence of the Desert King. Silent. Waiting. Watching. A king… serving another.

Kai's eyes darkened slightly. "…Grow stronger." Because the next enemies—wouldn't just be monsters.
