The bright morning sun shone clearly through the large glass windows of the master bedroom. The warm, golden light slowly crept across the smooth floorboards and rested on the large bed.
Camilla slowly opened her eyes. She let out a long, quiet yawn. She stretched her arms high above her head and pushed her legs down to the end of the soft mattress. She had slept incredibly well.
She rolled over onto her side. She looked at the other half of the large bed. It was empty. The white silk sheets were perfectly smooth and untouched.
Camilla sat up slowly. She pushed her curly hair out of her face. She looked around the quiet, sunlit bedroom. She looked at the chair near the small table. It was empty.
"He is not here," Camilla whispered softly to the empty room.
She remembered the events of the previous night. She remembered him saying he was going to his private study downstairs to get his ledger because he had a lot of work to do.
