Chapter 94 - Chapter 94: The World Beyond the Fracture

The golden eyes did not blink.

They remained suspended within the black tide, scattered like stars trapped inside an endless storm.

Thousands.

Perhaps millions.

Watching.

Not a single one moved.

Adrian felt the mark on his wrist pulse.

Steady.

Calm.

Not with fear.

With awareness.

Beside him, Elyan's expression hardened.

"They're closer than I expected."

Mira stood silently, her gaze fixed on the distant darkness.

"They've been searching ever since the bridge disappeared."

Adrian looked between them.

"So... this is your world?"

Mira nodded.

"Or what remains of it."

He turned slowly, taking in the impossible landscape.

Floating islands drifted through skies painted with silver and violet light.

Waterfalls flowed upward into glowing rivers suspended in the heavens.

Forests shimmered with crystalline leaves that chimed gently in the breeze.

It was breathtaking.

Yet the beauty felt... fragile.

Like a masterpiece with cracks hidden beneath fresh paint.

"How much is left?" Adrian asked quietly.

Elyan answered without taking his eyes off the horizon.

"Less than there used to be."

A heavy silence followed.

Mira finally spoke.

"The darkness doesn't destroy."

She paused.

"It consumes possibility."

Adrian frowned.

"What does that mean?"

She knelt beside a small flowering plant growing from the luminous ground.

Its petals glowed softly.

Mira touched one gently.

Instantly, the flower bloomed into dozens of brilliant colors.

"It could become many things."

Then she pointed toward the distant black tide.

"When the Endless reach it..."

The flower suddenly turned gray.

Its petals froze.

Every color vanished.

"It becomes only one."

Adrian stared.

"It still exists."

"Yes."

Mira stood.

"But it can never change again."

The realization settled heavily.

The Endless didn't simply conquer.

They erased choice.

Elyan finally looked toward Adrian.

"They believe change creates suffering."

A pause.

"So they ended it."

Adrian looked back at the unmoving golden eyes.

"They think they're saving people."

Neither Elyan nor Mira answered.

Because they were.

In their own way.

The truth made the situation far more complicated than Adrian wanted.

A cool breeze swept across the valley.

The crystal trees sang softly.

Then—

The song stopped.

Every tree fell silent at once.

Mira's face changed.

"They've sent a messenger."

The black tide rippled.

One of the countless golden eyes grew brighter than the rest.

It drifted forward.

Slowly.

As it approached, darkness gathered around it.

Not violently.

Deliberately.

A figure stepped from the shadows.

Tall.

Clothed in flowing black robes that seemed woven from the night itself.

Its face was human.

Almost.

Golden eyes glowed beneath long silver hair.

Its expression held neither anger nor joy.

Only perfect calm.

It walked until it stood at the edge of the valley.

Then stopped.

It did not cross into the light.

It simply waited.

Adrian instinctively stepped in front of Mira.

The stranger noticed.

A faint smile appeared.

"You protect before you understand."

Its voice was smooth.

Gentle.

Ancient.

Adrian frowned.

"I could say the same about you."

The smile widened ever so slightly.

"A fair observation."

Elyan moved beside Adrian.

"You should not be here, Caelis."

The stranger inclined his head.

"And yet..."

His golden eyes shifted toward Adrian.

"...the bridge has welcomed a new keeper."

"So you've been watching."

Caelis nodded.

"For a very long time."

Adrian folded his arms.

"Then let's skip the mysterious part."

"What do you want?"

Silence lingered before Caelis answered.

"I came to meet the one who chose dialogue."

The words surprised everyone.

Even Elyan.

"You expected war?" Adrian asked.

"I expected history."

Caelis looked toward the restored bridge.

"History is repetitive."

His gaze returned to Adrian.

"You disappointed us."

Adrian blinked.

"...That's supposed to be an insult?"

"It is an observation."

For the first time, Adrian noticed there was no hatred in Caelis's eyes.

No malice.

Only immense sadness.

"You broke the pattern."

Caelis continued.

"Every Bearer before you chose fear."

"You chose curiosity."

A long pause.

"We did not predict that."

The valley remained silent.

Finally, Adrian asked the question weighing on him.

"If you don't want war..."

He gestured toward the endless darkness.

"...why come here at all?"

Caelis looked upward.

Toward the fading sky.

"Because the bridge changes everything."

"The moment it reopened..."

His expression became solemn.

"...every surviving world became connected once more."

Adrian's heartbeat quickened.

"Worlds?"

"There were many."

Caelis nodded.

"There are few."

The implications were staggering.

Earth wasn't unique.

Neither was Elyan's world.

The fracture had never separated two realities.

It had once connected countless civilizations.

Until they disappeared.

Mira's voice became quiet.

"How many remain?"

Caelis answered without hesitation.

"Three."

Silence.

Adrian slowly repeated the number.

"Only three?"

Caelis nodded.

"Your world."

He gestured toward the valley.

"This world."

Then he looked into the endless darkness behind him.

"And ours."

A chill ran down Adrian's spine.

Three worlds.

Three survivors.

Everything else...

Gone.

The mark on Adrian's wrist suddenly flared with brilliant light.

The bridge responded.

Far behind them, a silver gateway appeared in the air.

It shimmered gently.

Waiting.

Caelis looked at it.

Then back at Adrian.

"The bridge has made its decision."

Adrian frowned.

"What decision?"

Caelis's expression grew unexpectedly serious.

"It has summoned the Three Keepers."

Elyan stiffened.

Mira's eyes widened.

Even the valley itself seemed to hold its breath.

Adrian looked around in confusion.

"I only know one Bridgekeeper."

Caelis met his gaze.

"You."

A pause.

"Elyan."

Another.

"And the one from our world."

Silence fell.

Then Caelis spoke the words that changed everything.

"He is already coming."

Far beyond the valley—

A second gateway of pure darkness began to open.

And something powerful stepped toward the light.
