The second punch landed before Xue Peng could protect himself. His head snapped to the side, and the force of it sent him sprawling across the bed, his phone slipping from his hand and hitting the floor with a dull crack.
Pain spread across his cheek as he tried to push himself upright, but the alpha gripping his shoulder shoved him back down, leaving him gasping as the taste of blood filled his mouth.
"Still want to pretend you're innocent?" the lead alpha asked, staring down at him.
Xue Peng's breathing shook as he struggled beneath the man's grip. "I told you what happened." His answer earned him another shove, and his shoulder struck the mattress hard enough to make him wince.
The man grabbed his collar and pulled him upright, forcing him to meet his eyes.
"You keep repeating the same thing as if saying it enough times will make it true."
"I didn't lie." Xue Peng's voice was barely audible, but the words were firm despite the fear in his eyes.
