Bai Feng looked up from the document resting before him.
He didn't answer immediately. Instead, he finished reading the final line, closed the folder with deliberate care and set it neatly aside before allowing his attention to settle fully on the man who had just entered.
"It has." A faint smile touched his lips, subtle but genuine. "I was beginning to wonder whether your patients intended to keep you indefinitely."
The remark drew an easy laugh from Yanchen.
He slipped his jacket from his shoulders, hanging it over the back of the chair before taking his seat.
Only then did he notice the cup waiting in front of him.
Heat shimmered off the surface, carrying a fragrance that was delicate and a little sweet, like the first warm day after a long winter.
The scent unwound slowly, threading through the air until the space itself felt softer for having it there.
