Chapter 10 - Capricorn’s death

The woman took the knife in her pocket and was about to stab Capricorn with it.

Capricorn jumped back just in time, catching the woman's wrist.

''Calm the fuck down.''

Capricorn gazed at her with a smirk.

Which was exactly why the lady's murderous energy spiked up.

Trees were growing in their direction, one particularly strong hit Capricorn in the ribs.

A small 'oof' left her lips.

She felt some warmth spreading her body from behind… she turned around to look what was happening and saw a giant fireball get thrown at her.

Her eyes widened.

The time seemed to slow down for a second…

Her hands stuttered when she tried to protect her face with them.

A deafening sound and then—

Capricorn got ejected from her spot as she got sent straight to the ground. Her face was buried in the ground as somebody poked her shoulder lightly to check if she was alive.

A silence filled the forest they were in, except for the water flowing down the river.

They all stared at each other before one of them decided to check her pulse— nothing. Not even a heartbeat.

The woman from earlier cracked a small smile and looked down at the body of her dead husband.

''We got her for you, darling…''

She kneels down next to him and cries over his chest.

''We avenged you…''

Somebody places a hand on her shoulder and let their gaze glide over at the rest of the guards.

''We must take the criminal's body to a church.''

Their eyes darken.

''They'll burn her body there.''

They all nod.

Five of the guards throw Capricorn's cold, dead body on a wood board and carry her to their ship.

Her hair elegantly swayed in the wind as they aggressively throw her on the ship's metallic floor.

Meanwhile, on Coco's back, Adam smirks and chuckles.

''Dying so soon…? How adorable~''

He then smiled down at himself and lightly pats Coco's back.

''That's my girl…''

Behind him, William and Leyla were innocently playing, their hands clapping together at each newly invented game.

Adam smirked at them and leaned down so that only Coco could hear him.

''Hey, Coco~? Could you follow the ship over there, please~?''

Coco's eyes drift over to him.

''And why would I do that? You're not my mother.''

Adam rolls his eyes. He had expected that answer…

'I'll do things my way then…' he thought.

And with that, he stands up.

''Willow, and Lilly, I'll go help Capricorn in her fight.''

William frowns softly at him.

''First of all, that's not our names, and second…''

His gaze flicks over the ground.

''Does she need help—?''

Adam yanks his head back up to look at him.

''Her needing help? HA—! Do you even know her?''

Adam chuckles and readjusts his suit.

''Let's go…''

He jumps and gets caught mid air by his shadows. Shadows that help him travel through the deep forest, in between each tree and animal. And as he got closer and closer to the ship, he could feel Capricorn's aura fading more and more…

Soon enough, Capricorn's dead body was thrown into the church's halls.

The church's priest, sisters, and the guards were talking outside of it.

Capricorn sat up with a yawn.

''Dang… it was so lame that I managed to nap mid-fight….'' She chuckles and rubs the back of her head.

''Crazy how cool I am… Where the fuck am I, though…?''

Demon features grow off her smooth skin. It often happened when she cussed in any holy place…

Her eyes widen when her gaze brushed the room.

The place was mostly white, but because of the moonlight slipping through the window, the place was covered by a soft blue.

There were stained windows mostly everywhere.

She stepped over one of the chairs to get a better look at one of the window's drawings.

She could see a young woman with white skin, brown hair in a white dress. Capricorn's eyes wander over the church's furnitures.

Everything looked elegant and… soft.

She huffs and and wipes her face with a hand.

''Out of all Churches out there, Moon's…. Great. So that's why I felt weaker…''

She facepalms with a sigh.

''As much as I'd love to…''

Her eyes lock on the big doors that led to the guards' chatter.

''I can't just barge in there and kill everyone.''

A pause.

''Not in a church, at least—''

Her demon features retract.

She grumbles under her breath and walks around the church.

She walked past a mirror with crystals surrounding it, her yellow eyes locking onto her reflexion's mismatched ones. She walks past it before quickly looking back at it with wide eyes.

''Wait, WHAT-?!''

She places a hand on the mirror.

''BRO—! Don't tell me you're already taking control!!!''

She frowns.

''I've barely been here for a chapter—!''

The doors open and the guards' eyes widen.

Suddenly, they all kneel down before.

''Oh, dear Goddess… how would you like us to punish the naughty Capricorn ?''

Moonlight— or should I say, Capricorn, blinked. What did they call her?

She looks down at her hands and outfit.

Her skin was as white as snow and she was wearing heels?! Though they were hidden by the long dress…

A silent smirk forms on her lips. She owed one to Moonlight…

Capricorn had just gotten blessed by her.

She clears her throat with a smirk, changing her voice to an over-the-top serious one.

''YyYyEsSsssSSssss… iT iS mEeEeEeeeeEEee. MoOnLiGhT. YoU'rE gOdDeSs!''

Some sisters glance at each other, a little confused.

A guard sniffles out a laugh, but quickly regains their composure.

The priest clears his throat. He was about to say something, but something grabbed his attention.

''Wait… WE LOST HER?!''

His forehead drops to the floor.

''Dear Goddess, we beg of you!''

He lifts his head to look back up at her.

''Help us find Demon Capricorn!''

Capricorn laughs nervously and could feel herself sweating slightly.

'Shit…' she thinks.

She clears her throat and looks around.

''I mAyyyYYyyy hElP tHoU wItH tHiS.''

One of the guards actually can't resist and bursts out laughing.

Another one hits this one in the ribs to silence them.

Capricorn looks around with a sweat on her temple.

''I bElIeVe— sorry—'' She clears her throat. ''I believe that Cap— DemonCapricorn is hiding in this very room.''

Some sisters gasp as they cling to each other.

Capricorn slowly turns around with a smirk and points at each dark corner in the room.

''She is hiding close to us… probably in the shadows~''

Some guards hold out their spears and swords to shield the church's clergy.

Capricorn starts walking towards the big doors, her heels clicking at each step.

The priest speaks up.

''Goddess, may we ask you where are you going.''

Capricorn freezes and sighs.

She turns around with a smirk.

''I am heading to my next destination!''

She runs a hand through her silky strands as her mismatched eyes flick back over to the big doors.

''I…''

Her gaze and smirk darken.

''Have something to do.''

The atmosphere was tense for a few minutes before she chuckled under her breath.

''Keep searching her.''

The doors open with a strong blow of wind.

They all flinch, except from Capricorn who didn't even feel cold.

''I'll bless you.''

She winks and leaves the church, the doors closing behind her.

They all just stare at the door when she leaves.

Too scared to act.

Too weak to protest.

Soon enough, Capricorn gained back her appearance.

With a snap of her fingers, her black tailcoat and hat were back on her.

She walked through the forest while whistling.

She hadn't even found any of her crew mates yet…

A small fire ball left her finger to shoot a deer running nearby like a gun.

That random deer was officially her dinner.

She sat down on a fallen tree trunk and started eating the deer under the starry sky.

It was rare for her to be alone.

Even in fights, she didn't consider herself as lonely.

She stretches and lies down on the ground.

Finally…

She could relax.

She opens an eye and glances at the guards' ship.

She sits back up and smirks.

It was time to have some fun—

She freezes.

What was that?

She heard something moving in the bushes…
