Chapter 320: Level Seven
The mudflat stone at Zone Four did not resist. It simply moved in directions Kai had not expected.
He surfaced from the fifth session of the day. Pool at forty-four percent. He had placed thirty anchors. The coverage problem was the same one since day two: the stone conducted gene energy sideways more than vertically, which meant anchor placement had to follow the layer's horizontal spread rather than going straight down. Every session was a geometry problem before it was anything else.
He sat at the camp's edge and drank water.
Zone Four's entity was thirty-one meters below him, distributed across the mudflat's southeast section. Four years of development. Not deep enough to have the weight of Zone One's compressed highland entity, not complex enough to have Zone Eight's twin-seam architecture. But it had covered more side ground than either of them. The mudflat gave it room to spread.
