As a Fighting-type Pokémon, Primeape understood aura very well. Originally, when Squirtle first came out, it was nothing special. But when Ash had Squirtle take a deep breath, Squirtle's aura completely shifted. This also put Primeape on high alert.
Seeing that Primeape actually didn't attack first, a hint of a smile crept onto Ash's lips.
"Squirtle, continuously raise your defense!"
"Squirtle! Squirtle!"
Hearing Ash's command, Squirtle, whose body was already being continuously strengthened by the deep breathing, fortified its abilities even further. Moreover, a flow of water continuously circulated around Squirtle, seemingly forming a protective barrier.
"Roar!" Realizing that Squirtle's abilities were constantly rising, Primeape knew it could no longer just observe. It charged forward and immediately unleashed Fury Swipes.
"Withdraw into your shell and continue to raise your abilities."
Hearing Ash's command, Squirtle quickly retreated into its shell. Faced with the hard turtle shell, Primeape's Fury Swipes were completely useless. However, Primeape wasn't discouraged; instead, it grabbed Squirtle's shell and used Seismic Toss.
"Squirtle, use Bubble on its eyes!"
Several small bubbles emerged from the shell and exploded right next to Primeape's eyes. With its eyes attacked, Primeape had no choice but to let go of Squirtle.
"Squirtle, pull back, then use maximum power Skull Bash!"
"Squirtle!"
Squirtle's body radiated an aqua-blue light. It then rammed headfirst right into Primeape. The massive impact directly sent Primeape flying, crashing into the rubble.
"Come here, Squirtle." Seeing Primeape hit the ground, Ash wasn't in a hurry to catch it. Instead, he waved Squirtle over. Squirtle obediently ran back, and Ash took out a fluffy towel and began wiping Squirtle's head.
"Very good. Since you don't like evolving, if you want to get stronger, you have to approach it from a different angle. Remember to practice the skills I taught you well. And you must master the Golden Bell Shield technique. That will be your ultimate trump card, understand?"
"Squirtle." Squirtle smiled, hugging Ash while letting him wipe its head.
After he finished, Ash looked at Squirtle's brightly shining bald head and said, "Not bad. It looks like the results of your training are already showing. You need to practice your Iron Head technique more later."
"Squirtle!" Rubbing its large head, Squirtle gave Ash a thumbs-up. Pikachu, on the side, curiously touched Squirtle's head.
"Pika pi!" (So strong. Are you trying to reach the level of my Iron Tail?)
"Squirtle!" (Boss said my head will be my ultimate trump card from now on. So in the future, I should be able to train it into an ultimate move that can defeat opponents just like you.)
"Lucky~" (Then keep at it! Papa Ash's training is always great.)
"Squirtle, squirtle!" (Of course! To respond to the boss's kindness, I have to get stronger too! Look at my head, it's shining bright!)
Misty watched Squirtle and the others chatting with some curiosity, but didn't ask too much. Ash, meanwhile, had already walked over to Primeape. Looking at Primeape, who was still somewhat angry even while knocked down but unwilling to attack him, Ash took out a few needles and inserted them into Primeape's head.
Out of trust in Ash, Primeape didn't resist. Then, Primeape was surprised to find that its feelings of anger had vanished! It looked at Ash curiously. Ash massaged its head and said, "This is a special technique. It's specifically meant to help easily angered Pokémon like you. How do you feel now?"
"Roar." With its explosive temper gone, Primeape smiled calmly and happily. Ash continued massaging it and said, "Actually, this technique has already been popularized, so it's not a secret. However, mine is the most authentic. So, Primeape, are you willing to become my Pokémon?"
Primeape looked at Ash, then smiled and nodded.
"Roar!"
"Then please take care of me from now on, partner." Although he said this, Ash's hands didn't stop. Ash's habit was that if he started something, he would do it perfectly to the very end.
And under Ash's massage, Primeape peacefully fell asleep. Once it was asleep, Ash recalled it into the Luxury Ball.
Watching Ash actually manage to calm Primeape down, Brock couldn't help but say, "Truly impressive..."
"Let's go. Celadon City is right up ahead. It just so happens I need to stock up on a batch of medicinal herbs. Once we get to Celadon City, we can rest at my hotel."
Subsequently, Ash's group headed towards Celadon City. Meanwhile, Team Rocket had been unluckily blasted right into a valley of Primeapes. Looking at the horde of Primeapes surrounding them, Team Rocket knew they were truly screwed this time.
"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again~!" x3
