Darkness pressed in from every side.
For a few seconds, Elena couldn't move. Her body felt frozen, her mind struggling to process what had just happened.
"Ryan…?" she whispered again, her voice shaking.
No answer.
Only silence.
Then—
A faint sound.
A breath.
Close.
Too close.
Elena turned sharply, her eyes searching through the darkness. She couldn't see anything clearly, but she could feel it—
Someone was still in the room.
And Ryan was gone.
Suddenly, a dim red light flickered back on near the ceiling, casting weak shadows across the room.
Elena's eyes adjusted quickly.
The table was still there.
The files were scattered across the floor.
But Ryan—
He was nowhere.
Her heart dropped.
"No…" she murmured.
Then she saw it.
Near the corner of the room, something lay on the ground.
She rushed forward.
It was Ryan's notebook.
The same black notebook.
But it was open.
Elena hesitated for a second before picking it up.
Her hands trembled slightly as she looked at the pages.
The map of Blackwood was still there.
The red circles.
But now—
There was something new.
A fresh marking.
A location she hadn't seen before.
And written beside it, in dark ink—
"Final Phase."
Elena's breath caught.
"What does that even mean…?"
A sudden noise interrupted her thoughts.
The door.
Slowly creaking open.
Elena turned toward it.
The hallway outside was dimly lit.
Empty.
But the feeling hadn't changed.
They were still being watched.
She had two choices.
Stay.
Or leave.
And right now—
Staying meant danger.
Holding the notebook tightly, Elena stepped out into the corridor.
Her footsteps echoed softly as she moved.
The building felt different now.
Colder.
Like it was alive.
Watching her.
As she reached the main hallway, she heard something again.
Footsteps.
Behind her.
She froze.
Slowly turned—
Nothing.
But this time, she didn't wait.
She started walking faster.
Then faster.
The sound followed.
Step for step.
Her breathing became uneven.
"Stop…" she whispered under her breath.
But the footsteps didn't stop.
They got closer.
Closer.
Suddenly—
A hand grabbed her arm.
Elena gasped and struggled, trying to pull away.
"Let me go!"
"Relax."
The voice was low.
Familiar.
Elena stopped.
"Ryan…?"
He stepped into the dim light.
His face was calm—but there was something different in his eyes.
Something darker.
"You're okay," she said, relief flooding her voice. "Where did you go? What happened?"
Ryan didn't answer immediately.
Instead, his gaze shifted to the notebook in her hands.
"You opened it," he said.
It wasn't a question.
Elena nodded slowly.
"There's a new location… and something written. 'Final Phase.' What is going on, Ryan?"
For a moment, silence hung between them.
Then Ryan spoke.
"They're moving faster now."
Elena frowned. "Who?"
Ryan looked straight at her.
"The people behind all this."
A pause.
Then he added quietly—
"And they wanted us to see that."
Elena's grip tightened on the notebook.
"So this wasn't just a trap…"
Ryan shook his head slightly.
"No."
His voice dropped.
"It was a message."
Outside, thunder roared over Blackwood once again.
And as the two of them stepped out of the building, neither of them noticed the shadow watching from above.
Because the game had changed.
This was no longer just about clues and secrets.
It was about control.
And whoever was behind it—
Had just taken the lead. 🌑📖
