The man remained silent.
Watching the graves.
As if listening to memories carried by the wind.
Back in the café, Mira's gaze drifted toward the diary resting on the table.
Her eyes settled on the name written neatly on its cover.
"So your full name is… Kwon Jin?"
She took a slow sip of coffee.
"Are you Korean like me?"
Jin picked up the diary, glancing briefly at the name.
"My mother was," he said quietly.
"But I've never been there."
Mira tilted her head slightly.
"Why not?"
Jin looked down at his cup.
"She died before she could take me."
Silence settled between them. Not awkward—just… heavy.
Mira studied him for a moment, then spoke again.
"My family still lives there."
Jin looked up.
"You came here alone?"
"They thought studying in the United States would… motivate me."
Her tone remained calm, but something underneath it felt distant.
"Did it?" Jin asked.
Mira shrugged lightly.
"I suppose we'll find out."
Outside the café window—
On a rooftop across the street—
A shadow shifted.
Then stilled again.
Inside, a familiar voice broke the quiet.
"Oh."
Emily stood beside the table, her eyes moving between them.
"Sorry," she said with a small smile.
"Are we interrupting something?"
Jin sighed.
"No."
Emily laughed and pulled out a chair.
"Relax. I'm joking."
Daniel followed, sitting down quietly.
The table suddenly felt… less quiet.
Emily leaned forward, eyes gleaming.
"So… café meeting after class?"
Her tone carried a teasing edge.
Mira didn't react.
"I saw a car drop him off while I was studying nearby."
Emily blinked.
"Car?"
Mira nodded.
"A Rolls-Royce."
Emily slowly turned toward Jin.
"…Wait."
She leaned closer.
"You're serious?"
Jin took another sip of coffee.
"It belongs to my family."
Emily stared at him for a second—then leaned back.
"Of course it does."
Daniel remained silent, observing.
"Yesterday's training was interesting," he said.
The mood shifted.
Mira nodded.
"The Abyss structure was unusual."
Daniel's gaze moved to Jin.
"You were calm in there."
Jin shrugged.
"The professor handled most of it."
Emily shot him a look.
"You almost died."
Jin raised an eyebrow.
"I didn't."
"Barely," she corrected.
Daniel crossed his arms.
"First descents are usually worse."
Mira added,
"Most people panic."
Emily suddenly snapped her fingers.
"Oh, right."
She looked at Jin.
"I heard something yesterday."
Jin met her gaze.
"What?"
"You and Veron fought students from another class."
Jin shrugged.
"They started it."
Daniel leaned slightly forward.
"Which class?"
"No idea."
"First years," Emily added.
"The same class as the group from the hallway."
Daniel nodded slowly.
"That explains it."
Mira glanced at him.
"Explains what?"
Daniel leaned back.
"Some classes understand power in the wrong way."
Emily made a face.
"That's a polite way to say they like trouble."
Jin said nothing.
Instead, he asked,
"Where is Veron?"
Emily shrugged.
"No idea."
Daniel answered calmly.
"He'll show up."
Across the street—
On a shadowed rooftop—
A man lay flat against the concrete.
A long rifle rested at the edge.
Through the scope—
the café window filled his vision.
Inside it—
Jin sat at the table.
The assassin adjusted the focus.
"Target confirmed," he muttered.
Footsteps sounded behind him.
He didn't turn.
"Finally decided to show up?" he said.
