Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The Ghost in the Neon

Ray didn't just walk back into Sector 7; he arrived like a storm.

As he stepped out of the Lower Tunnels, the neon-lit skyscrapers of Science City felt smaller. The citizens, with their glowing Link-Watches and holographic glasses, seemed like puppets tied to a dying power grid.

System Alert: Energy Spike Detected in Sector 7 Plaza.

The city's automated defense system felt his presence. Within seconds, a squad of 'Peacekeeper Drones'—sleek, silver spheres with high-energy blasters—descended from the sky.

"Citizen 402, surrender immediately. Your biometric data indicates extreme energy instability," a cold, robotic voice echoed.

Ray looked up, his violet eyes glowing brighter than the neon signs around him. "Energy instability? No. This is called 'Life'."

He raised both hands. This time, he didn't just spark electricity; he pulled it. The massive holographic billboards around the plaza began to flicker and distort. One by one, the advertisements for 'Neural-Plus' and 'Bio-Link' vanished, replaced by a static hiss.

"Mana Circuit: Overload!" Ray roared.

Instead of fighting the drones, he turned the entire plaza into a giant 'Mana-Net'. The electricity from the buildings flowed into the ground, turning the very pavement into a magnetic trap. The drones, caught in the sudden surge, slammed into the floor, their anti-gravity engines short-circuiting.

A crowd began to gather—students from the academy, office workers, and even some Lower-Tunnel dwellers who had dared to peak out. They saw a boy standing in the middle of a literal lightning storm, untouched by the power that was killing the machines around him.

Among the crowd, Elara stood paralyzed. Her tablet was showing a reading that was mathematically impossible. "He's not just using energy... he's rewriting the laws of physics," she whispered.

Suddenly, a massive holographic projection appeared in the sky above the plaza. It was the face of the Scarred Man from the Hexagon Council.

"Ray... or should I call you Arkanos?" the man's voice boomed over the city speakers. "Your father was a dreamer, and he died for it. You are a weapon, and we have the trigger."

"The only thing you have," Ray said, pointing a finger directly at the hologram, "is a city built on a lie. And I'm here to tell you—the battery is dead."

With a single snap of his fingers, the entire Sector 7 power grid went dark. For the first time in a hundred years, the citizens of Science City saw the stars. And in that darkness, Ray vanished like a ghost.
