Chapter 50 - Chapter 49: Tangelo Island

Chapter 49: Tangelo Island

Lyra, Misty, and Tomo got to Tangelo Island safely.

"Okay, first we find the Pokémon Center, and then we plan what to do next from there," Lyra said.

Misty and Tomo liked that idea.

On the way, they came to a beach. But what they saw made them very angry.

Three trainers were beating a Lapras with wooden sticks.

"Hey, what do you think you're doing?!" Lyra shouted.

"If you must know," said one of the trainers, "we are training this Pokémon for the Orange League."

"That's right," another said. "Now scram!"

Lyra got cross. "Pichu, use Iron Tail and hit those three away from Lapras."

Pichu got off Lyra's shoulder and charged at the three teenagers, hitting them and sending them into the ocean.

The three trainers got out of the sea.

"You three have no right to be Pokémon trainers," Lyra said, "and I don't think the Orange League would like trainers like you either."

"This punk wants to pick a fight," the third trainer said angrily.

"Then we'll give her one," the first one said.

The three trainers sent out a Pokémon each: Beedrill, Spearow, and Hitmonchan.

Lyra had Pikachu blast them with Thunderbolt, and then, with their crisped Pokémon in hand, the three trainers ran away in fear.

"That couldn't happen to nicer trainers," Misty said.

Lyra was just about to run over to Lapras when she heard a voice.

"That was amazing," the voice said.

The voice belonged to a boy about Brock's age.

"Your Pikachu's Thunderbolt was amazing, and from the look of it, your Pikachu and Pichu have been well trained."

"I thank you for that," Lyra said, "but now is not the time for compliments. This Lapras was abused by those three trainers, and it needs help quickly."

"All right," said the boy, "I'll go get Nurse Joy, and you guys look after Lapras."

Lyra was about to touch Lapras, but then she felt its aura—it was too scared to trust humans. So Lyra didn't touch it; she just kept an eye on it.

Soon, Lapras was at the Pokémon Center, and Nurse Joy gave it treatment at once. She had placed it in the pool outside that she kept for water Pokémon.

"It's a good thing that you two stopped those rough trainers from hitting the Lapras," said the boy, "otherwise poor Lapras would have had it worse."
