Chapter 227: Continue, Eradicating the Remaining Evil Doers

"Damn it! You bitch, you actually dared to hit me!"

"Seems like I didn't teach you enough last time."

While both sides were fiercely battling, the eagle didn't hesitate, lunging at a man with the ferocity of a starving predator.

This man was tougher and more dangerous than the two men Shen Que had taken down earlier.

For now, the man and the eagle were evenly matched.

The two women cowered in the corner, their fear palpable.

The woman who had been hit earlier, as the man and the eagle wrestled closer, realized that if they didn't finish off these men, she'd be next.

Without hesitation, she grabbed the broom and swung it at the man with all her strength.

The man erupted in fury, ready to strike the woman.

But the eagle refused to let go, its jaws clamped tightly around him, keeping him pinned.

"Damn beast!"

The man had been holding a knife, but because the eagle had bitten him, the knife fell to the ground. Seeing that the blade was not far from him, he reached out to grab it.

Unexpectedly, a pair of hands reached out and picked up the blade.

"Give the knife back to me!"

The man's face darkened, his gaze fierce.

The woman's hands shook as she clutched the blade, but despite her terror, she refused to give it up.

Then, after the eagle knocked the man down again, she mustered the courage and stabbed him with the blade.

Puchi!

The man, looking at the wound on his body, was filled with disbelief.

A woman who had been beaten down for so long had finally found the courage to fight back.

She was truly tired of living!

Before he could even react, the eagle struck again, sinking its teeth into his neck with the savagery of a wild animal.

The man raised his hand to choke the eagle, but due to the wound on his body, his strength was too weak. He weakly tried to choke the eagle a couple of times before he stopped breathing.

The eagle got up without hesitation and continued to pounce on the other men.

The two women, swallowing hard, felt that this time they might finally escape this torment.

One by one, they picked up weapons, preparing to find the right moment to help.

Now, only four men remained in the tunnel. Both Meng Ci and Shen Que were injured, but their opponents were in no better shape.

While Meng Ci and Shen Que were locked in fierce combat, one of the men took the opportunity to slip into a nearby building, grab a shotgun, load it, and aim it at Meng Ci.

"Bang!"

But the shot missed Meng Ci, as a large creature pounced on him, knocking him to the ground.

The shotgun fell to the ground from the recoil. The man couldn't reach it and had to get up to retrieve it.

Unexpectedly, the wolf pounced on him again.

When the man looked closely, he realized it was a wolf.

A deep, menacing growl echoed through the air as the wolf fixed its gaze on the two men, as if to say it had successfully lured those three fools far away.

Then, the wolf and the eagle pounced on the man, snarling and snapping at him.

Howl!

This guy was too much, daring to attack Meng Ci from behind!

Damn it.

Meng Ci and Shen Que didn't waste any more time and quickly finished the fight.

They had refrained from using their handguns to avoid causing unnecessary trouble for the two women.

With the wolf's help, the pressure on the two eased significantly, and they soon took care of the men.

The wolf and the eagle then began sniffing around the narrow passageway, searching for any survivors.

Seeing that the men were dead, the two women quickly put down their weapons and knelt down.

"Please, please don't kill us! We'll do anything you want!"

"We don't want to die."

Meng Ci picked up the shotgun and said, "I never intended to kill you."

"Now, you are free. You can go wherever you want."

"Also, be careful—those who went out on patrol and the ones who escorted the women could return at any time."

Meng Ci and Shen Que were both wearing masks and night vision goggles, so they weren't worried about being recognized by the women.

The two women were very familiar with the way out, having to traverse it every two days, but they were likely to encounter the patrol or escort groups.

The women hesitated, unsure if they could outrun the danger ahead.

"If you're scared, stay back until we've taken care of them!" Meng Ci ordered.

"Yes, yes," the women replied nervously.

Meng Ci watched them retreat and sternly warned, "Don't tell anyone else about this."

After agreeing, the women quickly retreated into the shadows, disappearing from sight.

Meng Ci and Shen Que stationed Eagle at the tunnel entrance and Eggplant inside, just in case someone tried to break in from either end.

They then began searching the tunnel.

Meng Ci was the first to open an adjacent structure and discovered a large chest of gold and silver ornaments inside. There was also a bed, with two shotguns placed beside it and a fan installed on the ceiling.

This setup looked like it belonged to the group's leader.

On the other side, there was a four-shelf unit filled with various cans, red wine, three boxes of cigarettes, and a box of cigars.

The leader was living pretty high on the hog.

Meng Ci didn't hold back and stored all these items into his space.

Next, he rummaged under the bed and found a wooden box filled with gold bars and gold ingots.

While stashing the gold, Meng Ci wondered if they'd hit a bank.

After leaving the room, only the hall was left. Meng Ci searched around and collected a lot of rice, flour, and cooking oil.

The supplies weren't in great shape, but they'd still fetch a good trade at the M City refugee camp.

After storing everything into his space, Meng Ci and Shen Que began treating their wounds.

The cuts looked bad, but the wounds weren't too serious.

After patching up, they stepped outside and found a spot to grab a couple of boxed meals from their stash.

They didn't eat inside because the tunnel reeked.

After finishing their meal, Meng Ci and Shen Que re-entered the tunnel.

The tunnel was pitch-black, like a bottomless pit swallowing everything in its path.

Wearing night vision goggles, the two seemed like killers lurking in the depths, waiting for their prey to appear.

Less than half an hour later, Eagle's low growls put them on high alert.

The patrol team was coming in. They were shouting, asking why the other patrol members hadn't come out to relieve them.

As soon as the five stepped through the iron door, the leader holding a shotgun sensed the danger and was ruthlessly stabbed in the stomach.

The other four, not yet accustomed to the darkness, flailed around like headless flies.

Meng Ci took out a silenced pistol from his space, calmly pulled the trigger, and with four precise shots, took them down.
