Chapter 25 - “Flames Within the Prince”

Prince Susim brings the princess to the palace and tells his maids,

"Take care of her. When she regains consciousness, inform me immediately."

"Yes, Prince."

Prince Susim leaves, and after some time, the princess regains consciousness at night. She tries to get up and leave.

When the maids see that she has woken up, they immediately inform Prince Susim.

Prince Susim comes to her and says,

"Oh! You're awake? That's good. The physician said that your body has become very weak. You need rest and as much nutritious food as possible. So, take rest for now. We will introduce you to the Queen tomorrow. Alright?"

"Yes."

"By the way, what did you say your name was?"

"My name is Saanjh."

"Oh. Alright then, you take rest. I'll leave now. Good night."

"Good night."

Meanwhile, in Takshak Lok, King Takshak receives news that the blue gem of Tulu Lok has gone missing. He goes to meet Guru Rambh at his monastery. There, Guru Rambh's disciples greet him.

"Greetings, Maharaj."

"Greetings. Where is Guru Rambh? Tell him I wish to meet him."

"Yes, Maharaj… he…"

"What is it?"

"He is not here."

"What do you mean?"

"He has gone somewhere to meet his Guru."

"Where?"

"We do not know, Maharaj."

King Takshak leaves in anger.

However, shortly after King Takshak leaves, Guru Rambh returns to the monastery. When he learns that the king had come looking for him, he goes to meet King Takshak at his palace.

King Takshak is sitting in his chamber, furious and deep in thought, when Guru Rambh arrives.

"Greetings, Maharaj. You called for me?"

Grinding his teeth in anger, King Takshak says,

"Come, Gurudev. Where were you till now? If you do not remember, let me remind you—you were supposed to make me the most powerful in the entire universe. For that, I even sacrificed my own daughter. But till now, I have not received any power. Instead, the blue gem of Tulu Lok has also disappeared from my palace. Would you like to explain this?"

Guru Rambh, trembling, replies,

"Forgive me, Maharaj. But whatever we did was with your consent. How could I have known that you had married Princess Ratri and shared her powers with someone?"

"Marriage?"

"Yes, Maharaj. You could not obtain Princess Ratri's powers because she was already married. After her sacrifice, that energy went to the person she was married to."

"But I know nothing about her marriage."

"It is possible she married someone by choice, through the Gandharva method."

"How will we find out who that person is?"

"Forgive me, Maharaj, I cannot say that right now. But I can find out where the blue gem of Tulu Lok has gone."

"Then find out quickly."

"Yes, Maharaj."

They go to the place where the gem was kept and try to trace its energy.

"What happened? Where is the gem?"

"Maharaj… it has returned to Tulu Lok."

"What!!!? How is that possible? We have been trying for years to collect all seven gems, and the one we had has vanished and gone back to Tulu Lok? How?"

"I do not know, Maharaj."

"Then what do you know? Whatever it takes, I want that gem back. Otherwise, it will be a matter of disgrace for us. Do whatever rituals or mantras are needed—but bring that gem back. Understood?"

"Yes, Maharaj. I will find a way. Please do not worry."

"That would be better for you. You may leave now."

"Yes, Maharaj."

Meanwhile, in Tulu Lok, Prince Susim and Princess Ratri grow close and become friends.

One day, while they are sitting in the garden talking, suddenly an energy starts flowing through Prince Susim's body, causing intense burning pain. He is unable to bear it and cries out in agony.

Seeing this, Princess Ratri informs King Shantanu. The royal physician is called, but he fails to treat Susim.

The Queen, worried, says,

"Maharaj, what is happening to our son Susim?"

"I do not know, Maharani. Our child has already faced so many troubles, yet they do not seem to end."

"Maid!"

"Yes, Maharaj."

"Go and bring Acharya Gajpati here immediately."

"Yes."

Acharya Gajpati arrives, examines Susim, and says,

"Maharaj, Prince Susim is unable to bear the energy of the divine light (Prakashpunj). His body is gradually weakening, and this energy is destroying him from within."

"Then remove this energy from his body, Acharya!"

"Forgive me, Maharani. Only the source of this divine energy itself can withdraw it from his body. Otherwise… the only other outcome is his death."

"What!!!?"

"Maharaj, what is Acharya saying? Will our Susim die like this, in pain? Do something, Maharaj! Save our son!" (the Queen cries)
