Chapter 9 - Chapter — The Girl in the Burning Car

The automatic car doors slid open with a soft mechanical sound.

Inside the wrecked vehicle, emergency systems activated one by one.

A calm artificial voice echoed through the broken cockpit.

"Emergency protocol initiated."

"Driver vital signal detected."

"Seat stabilization system active."

The advanced driving seat slowly adjusted its position.

Unlike normal vehicles, this flying car didn't rely on traditional seatbelts.

The seat itself was a special containment system designed to protect the driver.

Once the vehicle started, the chair locked the body into a gravity-controlled field. No

matter how violently the vehicle moved, the driver couldn't be thrown forward or

backward.

In severe accidents, the gravity control would absorb most of the shock.

But Alex didn't know any of that.

From his perspective—

The car had exploded.

And the girl inside hadn't moved.

Which meant only one thing.

His heart began pounding violently.

Did she die…?

Alex swallowed nervously.

He leaned closer to the car window and wiped away the smoke with his sleeve.

Inside the driver's seat sat a girl.

Her head was slightly tilted to the side.

Her long golden hair flowed across the seat like strands of sunlight.

It was so long that Alex couldn't even tell where the hair began or where it ended.

Then he noticed her lips.

Soft.

Pink.

Perfect.

Alex gulped.

"Is… is she dead?"

He carefully opened the door and leaned inside.

His brain was racing.

Should I touch her?

No… what if she wakes up and thinks I'm doing something weird?

But what if she's dying and I don't help?

Alex scratched his head nervously.

"This doesn't look like a normal girl…"

But the car was still running.

What if something else exploded?

What if the vehicle caught fire again?

His heartbeat grew faster.

Touch her… or don't touch her…

"Just touch her!" he whispered to himself.

"At least if she's alive, I won't go to prison."

Slowly…

Very slowly…

Alex reached forward and grabbed her shoulders.

He gently shook her.

Her upper body moved slightly.

And because of the movement—

Certain parts of her body… jiggled.

Alex froze.

"…Wow."

He immediately slapped his own forehead.

"Control your emotions!"

"You just had a breakup today!"

"Think about Iris!"

But strangely…

Instead of Iris…

The image in his mind was this girl's face.

Alex blinked.

"…Wait."

"I haven't even seen her face properly yet."

Carefully he pulled her slightly forward from the seat.

He inspected her body.

Her clothes weren't burned.

Her hair was completely fine.

Her skin looked perfect.

Alex frowned.

"That explosion was real, right?"

"Cars don't just explode and leave people completely unharmed…"

He stared at the vehicle.

"What kind of car is this?"

"This thing is insanely safe."

"If I ever become rich, I'm buying one."

Then suddenly another thought struck him.

"Oh no."

"This car must be extremely expensive."

He groaned.

"If she died… I'll have to pay for this car."

"My parents will kill me."

Slowly he placed his hand against her chest.

He was trying to check her heartbeat.

The moment his hand touched her—

He froze.

Her body was warm.

Soft.

Very soft.

Alex's brain almost shut down.

"Focus!"

"Focus!"

"I'm trying to save a life here!"

He leaned closer, trying to listen for a heartbeat.

But he couldn't hear anything.

"Wait… maybe I should check her pulse."

He lifted her wrist and placed it near his ear.

Silence.

Alex panicked.

"I study science… not biology!"

"How do doctors even check this stuff?"

He tried again.

Still nothing.

"Yeah…"

"She's definitely dead."

Alex looked at her lips again.

Then suddenly he remembered something.

"CPR!"

His eyes widened.

"Yes!"

"I saw this once in college!"

"A guy saved a drowning kid using CPR."

Alex stared at her lips again.

His brain froze.

"Wait…"

"That means I have to kiss her."

He leaned forward slowly.

His lips almost touched hers—

Then he jerked back.

"No!"

"No no no!"

"This is wrong!"

He tried again.

His lips moved forward.

Then stopped again.

Alex grabbed his head.

"My heart is beating like a drum!"

"Okay."

"I'll just close my eyes."

"If I can't see her face…"

"…then it won't feel awkward."

He squeezed his eyes shut.

Then—

He pressed his lips against hers.

Alex blew air into her mouth.

Then quickly began pressing on her chest.

"Come on!"

"Breathe!"

"Please breathe!"

"My five years of prison are depending on you!"

"Come on sister!"

"Do something!"

Suddenly—

The girl's eyes snapped open.

And the first thing she saw…

Was a strange boy kissing her.

With his hands pressing on her chest.

Her eyes widened.

SLAP!

Her hand shot forward.

Alex flew backward and fell onto the ground.

He grabbed his cheek.

"WHY DID YOU HIT ME?!"

The girl sat up.

"What were you doing to me?!"

Alex pointed at her angrily.

"I was giving you CPR!"

"I thought you were dead!"

"The car exploded!"

"I couldn't hear your heartbeat!"

The girl quickly checked her clothes.

Everything was intact.

Her expression changed slightly.

"…These clothes."

She muttered to herself.

"I forgot to change out of my warrior suit."

She sighed internally.

No wonder he couldn't detect my heartbeat.

The special combat suit she was wearing suppressed vital signals completely.

Which meant a normal human couldn't hear her heartbeat even if they tried.

She looked back at Alex.

"You should look at the road before crossing it."

Alex scratched his head awkwardly.

"…Yeah."

"That was my fault."

Then he remembered something.

"Wait."

"You're not angry anymore?"

The girl took a deep breath.

"Control."

"Control."

"Control…"

Finally she spoke calmly.

"Fine."

"You made a mistake."

"I'll forgive you."

"But if anyone else had done what you just did…"

"…their body would already be scattered in pieces."

Alex blinked.

"You're that dangerous?"

The girl crossed her arms.

"You don't understand anything."

"Do you know what kind of clothes I'm wearing?"

"No."

"This suit blocks vital signals."

"That means normal people cannot detect my heartbeat."

Alex stared at her.

"Then why wear something like that?"

"If someone checks your heartbeat during an accident, they won't find anything!"

The girl stared at him silently.

Then she suddenly asked,

"How old are you?"

"Eighteen."

"What do you plan to do in life?"

Alex straightened proudly.

"I'm going to become a warrior."

The girl paused.

A strange thought crossed her mind.

Interesting.

She pulled out a small card and tossed it toward him.

"Here."

Alex caught it.

"What is this?"

"My credit card."

"It contains 100,000 credits."

Alex frowned.

"…Credits?"

"You mean debit card?"

"Or loan?"

The girl smirked.

"You'll understand in two or three days."

"Just wait."

Then she turned around and walked away.

Alex stared at the strange card.

"100,000 credits?"

"What kind of currency is that?"

The card looked extremely advanced.

Completely transparent.

If you touched the middle, your finger passed through it like air.

But if you held the edges, it felt solid.

"Technology has gotten crazy."

He slipped the card into his pocket.

"Whatever."

"If she forgave me, I should leave before she changes her mind."

Meanwhile the girl activated her communication device.

"Assistant."

"Yes ma'am?"

"I had a small accident."

"Ma'am! Are you injured?"

"Where are you? I'll send an ambulance immediately!"

The girl sighed.

"Stop asking stupid questions."

"Do you think a Peak Level 5 Warrior can get injured from something like that?"

"…No, ma'am."

"Then stop panicking."

"Yes ma'am."

"Send me another vehicle."

"I'm heading to the office."

"Yes ma'am."

Alex overheard some of the conversation.

But he ignored it.

Because he was still confused about the 100,000 credits.

Meanwhile—

Within five minutes, a new flying car arrived.

The girl stepped inside.

As the vehicle lifted into the sky…

She looked down at the road where Alex stood.

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

"You touched me without permission."

"You have no idea how lucky you are to still be alive."
