Chapter 11 - Chapter — A Family That Might Flee the City

Alex sat at the dining table while his big sister stared at him with narrowed eyes.

She slowly placed her hand on her forehead and sighed.

Which idiot messed things up again…

She looked back at Alex.

"I've told you a thousand times," she said calmly, though the calmness felt dangerous.

"When you walk on the road, look left and right before crossing."

Alex swallowed.

"Now tell me what happened."

Meanwhile, their mother walked in from the kitchen carrying a tray of water.

She had seen Alex run inside earlier, completely out of breath.

Alex scratched the back of his head.

"I think… I might have made someone's car explode."

The room froze.

His sister blinked once.

"…Say that again."

Alex looked slightly nervous.

"I said I think someone's car exploded."

His sister leaned closer.

"Don't say I think."

"Tell me exactly what happened."

"Did you make someone's car explode?"

"…Yes."

"Whose car?"

"I don't know."

Her eye twitched.

"You don't know?"

"Fine."

"Was it a flying car or a normal car with tires?"

Alex hesitated.

"I… didn't notice."

Her fingers slowly pressed against the table.

Her nails scratched the wood slightly.

Their mother immediately sensed danger.

Oh no…

Alex's sister took a deep breath.

"Okay."

"Let me confirm one thing."

"The person inside the car… is alive, right?"

Alex nodded quickly.

"Yes."

His sister closed her eyes.

"Good."

"Very good."

Then she asked another question.

"…Was that person from a warrior family?"

Alex hesitated.

"…Maybe."

The moment he said maybe, their mother dropped the tray.

CLANG!

Water spilled across the floor.

She rushed forward and grabbed her daughter.

"Sweetheart!"

"Please don't hit him!"

"He's your little brother!"

His sister clenched her fists.

"Mom."

"Hold me tightly."

"I'm extremely angry right now."

She took a deep breath.

"I feel like kicking this idiot out of the house."

"But what can I do?"

"He's my little brother."

She glared at Alex again.

"This donkey doesn't even know whether the car was flying or driving on the ground!"

"He doesn't know whose car he hit!"

"And now he's calmly telling me about it!"

Alex raised his hands defensively.

"I didn't hit the car!"

"Then what happened?"

"Tell the story properly!"

Alex sighed.

"Okay."

"Today was the last day of school."

"And… Iris and I broke up."

His sister folded her arms.

"Breakup?"

"I thought you never had a relationship in the first place."

"So how did you break up?"

Alex frowned.

"Do you really need to add pressure right now?"

His sister shrugged.

"I warned you."

"I told you Iris belongs to a different family."

"And you belong to a different family."

"Yet you chased her for four years."

Alex sighed.

"How was I supposed to know she already had a fiancé?"

His sister raised an eyebrow.

"Oh?"

"So her fiancé showed up and beat you up?"

"No."

"He actually explained things politely."

His sister blinked.

"Wait."

"You're telling me her fiancé came…"

"…and politely explained things to his girlfriend's boyfriend?"

Alex corrected her.

"I wasn't her boyfriend."

"If I had been, he probably wouldn't have been that polite."

His sister nodded thoughtfully.

"Interesting."

"So what happened next?"

"Well…"

"I was feeling miserable."

"Like Devdas."

"And then while crossing the road…"

"I didn't notice a flying car."

"And then…"

He made a small explosion gesture.

"Boom."

His sister stared at him.

"So the car didn't crash into you…"

"The car exploded?"

"…Yes."

"And the person inside survived?"

"Yes."

She slowly looked toward the ceiling.

"Mom."

"Yes?"

"Bring me a stick."

"A stick?"

"Yes."

"Today I'm going to teach your son a lesson about responsibility."

She pointed at Alex.

"Listen carefully."

"If someone survives a car explosion…"

"…that person is a warrior."

"And this idiot…"

"…just caused damage worth millions."

Alex raised his hand.

"But she didn't ask for money."

His sister paused.

"She didn't?"

"No."

"She only asked if I was going to become a warrior."

His sister blinked.

"…What?"

"Yes."

"So I told her I will become one."

She narrowed her eyes.

"And what rank do you think you'll reach?"

Alex shrugged.

"Rank One or Rank Two maybe."

"Anything higher would be unrealistic."

His sister nodded slowly.

"Fair enough."

"What rank was she?"

Alex hesitated.

"…Five."

The moment the word left his mouth—

His sister's legs gave out.

She collapsed onto the floor.

"MOM!"

She grabbed their mother's arm.

"We need to leave the city."

"Right now."

"What?!"

"Call Dad!"

"We should leave the city!"

"If necessary…"

"We'll leave the country!"

She pointed dramatically at Alex.

"Your talented son just touched a Level Five Warrior without permission!"

"He kissed her!"

"He broke her car!"

"And he thinks he'll survive?!"

Alex quickly protested.

"She forgave me!"

"She forgave you?"

"Yes!"

"She just slapped me once."

His sister squinted at him.

"Show me your face."

Alex slowly moved his hand away from his cheek.

Five clear finger marks were visible.

His sister stared at them.

"Oh."

"So that's why you've been holding your cheek."

Alex muttered.

"My skin is too fair."

"That's why the marks look red."

His sister slowly stood up.

"If I stay here any longer…"

"…I might explode."

She stomped toward her room.

"My useless brother harasses a girl…"

"…and expects me to solve his problems."

"Not happening!"

She slammed the door.

Inside her room she muttered angrily.

"If I were a volcano…"

"I would have erupted already."

Meanwhile their mother sighed.

"Mothers will always be mothers."

She handed Alex a glass of water.

"Drink this."

"You ran home so fast."

Alex drank the water.

"Mom."

"I'm going to sleep."

"Wake me up when Dad comes home."

His mother shook her head.

"And who will help me cook dinner?"

Alex looked toward his sister's room.

"Ask her."

From inside the room came an immediate reply.

"I'm not cooking!"

"My brain is already overheating!"

"If I cook for him right now…"

"I might put sugar instead of salt!"

"He's already ruined my day!"

Their mother held her head.

"You two are impossible."

"Fine."

"Go sleep."

"Neither of you help me anyway."

Alex shrugged and walked to his room.

He changed into comfortable clothes and lay down on the bed.

Within minutes he fell asleep.

But even in his sleep—

A single face kept appearing in his mind.

Golden hair.

Sharp eyes.

Pink lips.

Jessi.

Beautiful.

But extremely dangerous.

Meanwhile, high above the city—

Inside the Syncro Tower—

Jessi sat quietly in her office.

Her fingers tapped the table slowly.

Her eyes narrowed.

"Alex…"

She whispered softly.

"Where exactly do you think you can run?"

The chapter ended.
