Chapter 9
Kai walked back to his room in the boys' dormitory with slow, tired steps. The exhaustion from his recent S-Class mission finally caught up to him as he closed the door behind him.
He had been working tirelessly ever since joining Fairy Tail with Erza, pushing himself through missions and training without rest. The moment his head touched the pillow, sleep claimed him almost instantly.
That same night, someone quietly returned to Magnolia.
The girl walked through the silent streets under the moonlight before entering the girls' dormitory. It was well past midnight, and most of the guild was asleep.
As she made her way toward her room, she noticed Levy sitting by the window, completely absorbed in a book.
"You should be sleeping, Levy. It's the middle of the night."
Levy looked up and blinked in surprise.
"Oh, you're back?"
She closed her book with a small smile.
"Too bad… if you had come earlier, you could have met him—"
Before she could finish, the girl grabbed her shoulders tightly.
"Is he back? How is he? Was he injured?"
Levy scratched her head awkwardly.
"Nope. He's perfectly fine."
She chuckled lightly.
"He even said S-Class jobs were too easy."
The girl huffed with a faint smile.
"Hmph. Of course he did."
She turned to leave, but Levy immediately grabbed her arm.
"And where do you think you're going?"
Levy narrowed her eyes.
"Kai should be sleeping. Don't go and disturb him."
She added with a pointed look.
"And he lives in the boys' dormitory."
The girl whistled innocently and looked away.
"Hm? What are you talking about?"
She smiled sweetly.
"I'm just going to my room."
The next moment, she dashed away.
Levy's mouth twitched.
"Seriously… this girl."
She sighed and returned to her room, finally deciding to sleep.
Meanwhile, the girl quietly opened her window.
Without hesitation, she jumped out into the night.
Using magic, she flew silently toward the boys' dormitory and stopped outside Kai's window. With practiced ease, she opened it as if she had done it many times before.
She stepped inside without making a sound.
The room was quiet.
Kai was sleeping peacefully on his bed.
The girl walked closer and sat beside him, watching his calm face.
A soft sigh escaped her lips.
"…You really look cute when you're sleeping."
Without hesitation, she slipped into his bed.
She gently wrapped her arms around him, resting her head on his arm and her face against his chest.
Kai instinctively responded in his sleep.
He pulled her closer like a body pillow.
The girl giggled softly and snuggled into him.
Soon, both of them fell asleep in each other's arms.
The next morning, Kai slowly woke up.
He immediately felt a familiar warmth in his arms.
"Sigh… this girl."
Instead of moving away, he simply pulled her closer and closed his eyes again.
After a few more hours, the girl stirred.
She looked at Kai's face and smiled gently.
"Morning, Kai."
Kai opened his eyes and looked at her calmly.
"You really are bold, Mira."
His voice was still slightly sleepy.
"You sneak into my bed like this… aren't you worried I might do something?"
The girl—Mirajane—smiled charmingly.
"If it's you…"
She stuck her tongue out playfully.
"I wouldn't mind."
Kai raised an eyebrow.
He pinched her nose lightly.
"Then don't mind if I do."
"Wh—"
Before she could react, Kai leaned forward and kissed her.
Mira was startled for a moment, but she quickly responded.
Her arms wrapped around his neck as she kissed him back.
Their lips moved together, and soon their tongues clashed, neither willing to back down.
After a few minutes, they finally pulled apart, both slightly breathless.
Mira licked her lips with a mischievous smile.
"Hehehe… now I can brag to Erza about this for months."
Kai chuckled softly and stroked her hair.
Instead of replying, he leaned in again, capturing her lips once more.
Time passed unnoticed.
A few hours later, Kai and Mira were walking together toward the guild.
"You really should take more breaks, Kai."
Mira spoke while holding his arm gently.
Kai smirked slightly.
"But I like doing missions."
He glanced at her.
"But yeah… I'll be taking a long vacation this time."
Mira tilted her head curiously.
"Oh? What mission?"
She traced small circles on his hand with her thumb.
"An escort mission from the Heartfilia family."
Mira nodded thoughtfully.
Then she suddenly pulled him slightly into a nearby alley.
She leaned closer and kissed his cheek.
Kai smirked and returned the gesture.
He kissed her cheek… and then her lips.
Mira smiled in satisfaction.
Soon, the two of them reached the Fairy Tail guild.
They walked in together, side by side.
Ready to face another day in their chaotic, lively home.
