Chapter 21 - CHAOS AFTER WAR

Morning sunlight streamed through the windows of Jay's villa, illuminating the laughter and chatter of Section E sprawled across the living room. Today wasn't about underworld battles, strategic missions, or elite training. Today was… peace. Or at least, as peaceful as it could get with Jay, Keifer, and the chaos that always seemed to follow them.

"Alright, everyone," Jay announced, stretching, "we start with a horror movie marathon. Ghosts, screams, jump scares—the works."

Section E groaned collectively, but Keifer smirked, walking beside her. "You realize she's terrified of ghosts, right?" he whispered conspiratorially to Thyme.

Thyme snickered. "This is going to be epic."

Jay, of course, overheard. "Excuse me? I am not scared of ghosts! I just… dislike them."

"Right," Kevin muttered, exchanging a grin with MJ. "Dislike. Got it."

They all settled onto the massive couch, blankets and popcorn at the ready. Jay insisted on sitting in the middle, a wall of Section E forming around her.

The first movie started, a black-and-white classic with creaking doors and eerie shadows. The room was silent, save for the occasional gasp, except for Jay. Every flicker of the screen made her flinch, hide under her blanket, or jump in her seat.

"Ahhh! Did you see that? That ghost just moved!" she shrieked.

Keifer rolled his eyes, but when the loud noise made the sound system pop, even he flinched, earning loud laughter from the others.

"Jay, you're adorable when you scream," MJ teased, throwing a popcorn kernel at her.

"I am not adorable! I am terrifyingly brave!" Jay shot back, shaking her fist.

Kevin leaned forward, grinning. "Ten bucks says she hides under the blanket before the next scare."

Jay crossed her arms, glaring—but the blanket slowly engulfed her anyway as the next scene appeared. The room erupted into laughter, popcorn flying, blankets tangled, and Keifer shaking his head, secretly smiling at how animated she was.

By the time the final movie ended, Jay was exhausted from screaming and hiding, but her laughter mingled with everyone else's, the air light with happiness she hadn't felt in ages.

"Alright," Keifer said, rubbing his hands together. "Next… Truth or Dare."

Immediately, Section E erupted into chaos.

"I dare Raven to dance like a chicken across the yard," MJ said, barely containing laughter.

Raven glared but accepted, running in ridiculous flaps while everyone cackled.

"Okay," Keifer said, pointing at Jay with a mischievous smile, "truth or dare?"

"Truth," Jay replied confidently.

Keifer leaned closer, smirking. "Have you ever… screamed at something ridiculously harmless, like a… ghost?"

Jay froze. "Excuse me?!"

"Oh, come on, we all saw it during the movies," Kevin chimed in. "Your little shrieks are legendary."

Jay groaned but laughed, hiding her face in her hands. "You guys are impossible."

The dares continued—funny, harmless, chaotic: MJ dared everyone to try balancing kitchen utensils on their heads, Keifer dared himself to cook blindfolded later, and Jay revealed a silly childhood story about a ghost she swore haunted her attic.

Speaking of cooking… it was lunchtime, and Jay's turn to "help" had arrived.

"Well," Jay said, standing beside Keifer, Thyme, Kevin, and MJ in the kitchen, "I can… observe?"

Keifer raised an eyebrow. "Observe? That's usually code for causing more chaos."

Jay grinned sheepishly. "Maybe."

And chaos was exactly what happened.

Flour clouds filled the air as MJ attempted to measure ingredients while blindfolded, accidentally sending a puff straight at Jay's face. Thyme tried flipping pancakes but ended up tossing one onto Keifer's shoulder. Kevin, attempting to be helpful, slipped on a dropped egg, sliding across the floor like a cartoon character.

Jay tried stirring sauce but managed to tip the entire pot over, narrowly avoiding disaster thanks to Keifer's quick reflexes.

"Jay! No! That's—never mind, it's fine," Keifer shouted, laughing as he flicked a dab of sauce at her face.

By the time lunch was "ready," the kitchen looked like a battlefield, ingredients everywhere, everyone laughing and joking, and Jay stood in the middle, helpless but amused.

"See?" she said, holding her hands up. "I can help!"

"You helped… create chaos," Keifer corrected, smirking.

After lunch, they moved outside for games, carrying their laughter and energy with them.

Water balloon fights, treasure hunts, and obstacle courses turned the garden into a storm of wet chaos. Jay showed her strategic mind, orchestrating teams and planning clever sabotage, even if she got soaked more than anyone. Keifer and Jay teamed up, side by side, their playful competitiveness bringing a flush to both their cheeks.

Even the quieter members—Nyx, Orion, and Zara—joined in, their smiles revealing sides rarely seen in battle. The day was loud, messy, and utterly joyous.

As the sun began to dip toward the horizon, the group settled near the beach, exhausted but happy.

Jay leaned back against a palm tree, the sound of waves filling the space between them. Keifer sat beside her, lightly holding her hand, thumbs brushing.

"You know," Jay said softly, "days like this… remind me why I fight for everyone. For moments like this."

Keifer nodded, his usual stern expression softened. "Yeah… peace like this… it's rare. But it's worth it."

Jay smiled, leaning her head on his shoulder. Around them, Section E chatted, laughed, and enjoyed the sunset—the chaos of the day giving way to quiet contentment.

For once, there were no enemies, no strategies, no missions—just laughter, friendship, and warmth. A rare day where even the legendary Jay could simply be herself.

And in that calm, she realized: sometimes, peace itself could feel as powerful as any battle.
