Chapter 136 - Chapter 134 — The Instructor Hunt

The valley fell silent again.

Leaves drifted slowly through the narrow corridor.

The aftermath of the ambush faded— but the tension remained.

Akari was already back in the trees.

Hidden.

Watching.

Daigo adjusted the banner behind the stone.

Position secured.

Breathing steady.

Raizen stood at the entrance.

Still.

Listening.

Inside—

Astra spoke:

"Sector control maintained."

A pause.

"However…"

Raizen's eyes narrowed.

"…However?"

"New chakra signature detected."

"Approaching rapidly."

The Real Hunter

The forest shifted.

Not chaotic.

Not rushed.

Controlled.

Measured.

Professional.

Raizen spoke quietly.

"Instructor."

Above—

Akari whispered:

"I see him."

Daigo exhaled.

"…Please don't let it be—"

A figure stepped into the valley.

Calm.

Unhurried.

Instructor Hoshida.

He scanned everything.

The ground.

The trees.

The disruption.

Then—

Raizen.

"…So this is where you ran."

Evaluation

Hoshida stepped forward slowly.

Eyes lifting.

Akari.

"Good elevation."

Daigo.

"Solid defense."

Then Raizen.

A faint smile.

"…You chose the terrain."

Raizen didn't move.

Inside—

Astra:

"Direct engagement loss probability: high."

Raizen already knew.

This wasn't a fight.

The Strike

Hoshida vanished.

Daigo reacted— barely.

Impact.

He blocked— but slid back.

"…Yeah."

He grinned.

"That hurt."

Akari fired.

Clean shot.

Hoshida shifted.

Missed by inches.

"…Good."

And he kept moving.

Control, Not Combat

Raizen stepped forward.

Not attacking.

Positioning.

Silver Step.

He shifted Hoshida's line— into the center of the valley.

Akari saw it.

Arrow.

Ground strike.

Hoshida paused— half a step.

Enough.

Daigo charged.

Collision.

Force.

Hoshida absorbed it— but the tempo broke.

Raizen moved.

Panther Entry.

Inside.

Redirect.

Not damage.

Disruption.

Astra:

"Window achieved."

Raizen spoke.

"Move."

Withdrawal

Akari dropped first.

Gone into the trees.

Daigo grabbed the banner.

Followed.

Raizen moved last.

Silent.

Controlled.

Hoshida didn't chase.

He watched.

Thinking.

"…Good decision."

Instructor View

High above—

Kaito Ren leaned forward.

"They escaped again."

Takeshi Aran nodded.

"They were never trying to win."

Ren smirked.

"He avoids fights he can't win."

Aran's eyes stayed on the forest.

"…No."

"He wins them differently."

The Observer

Deeper in the forest—

Rei Kurogane watched from a ridge.

Too late to see everything.

But enough.

Instructor.

Retreat.

No losses.

Arms crossed.

Eyes sharp.

"…Interesting."

His teammate frowned.

"What?"

Rei turned away.

"…He's not fighting the trial."

A small pause.

"…He's playing it."

The Shift

Far ahead—

Raizen's squad slowed.

Daigo leaned on a tree.

"…Yeah."

"That guy is terrifying."

Akari nodded.

"Yeah."

Raizen looked back.

Inside—

Astra:

"Instructor threat avoided."

Raizen spoke quietly.

"…For now."

Because Thunder Basin had changed.

Students were being hunted.

Instructors were closing in.

And somewhere in the forest—

The strongest were still moving.

The real battle— hadn't begun yet.
