Chapter 112 - Chapter 110 — The War Game Begins

Dawn broke slowly over the training grounds of Kumogakure Academy.

Mist rolled across the edge of the Eastern Training Forest— drifting between the trees like pale smoke.

Two formations stood opposite each other.

First-years.

Second-years.

No noise.

No jokes.

Just tension.

Storm Run had shaken the academy.

This— would answer it.

Final Instructions

Takeshi Aran stood between both groups.

"The rules are simple."

"Three squads per side."

"Command banner."

"Capture or eliminate."

A pause.

"No lethal jutsu."

That didn't make it safe.

It just made it controlled.

The Battlefield

Aran gestured toward the forest.

"The Eastern Training Forest contains multiple terrain zones."

Dense woodland.

Rock ridges.

A shallow river cutting through the south.

"Three kilometers of active terrain."

Enough space to disappear.

Or be hunted.

Deployment

Squads moved without hesitation.

First-years entered from the east.

Second-years from the west.

And the moment both sides vanished into the trees—

the war game began.

Into the Forest

Raizen Tenrai moved at the center of his squad.

Measured pace.

Not rushing.

Not hesitating.

Akari Mizuta advanced ahead along a low ridge.

Eyes scanning:

ground disturbance

branch displacement

shadow movement

Behind them—

Daigo Mizuta carried the wrapped banner.

"…I still don't like this."

Akari didn't turn.

"That's why you're carrying it."

Astra's Tactical Map

Inside Raizen's mind—

Astra projected terrain overlays.

"Enemy dispersion likely."

"Search pattern probability: split formation."

Multiple paths lit up.

Direct sweep.

Wide flank.

Staggered scouting.

Raizen slowed.

"Hold."

The squad froze instantly.

The First Sign

Akari crouched.

Fingers brushing disturbed soil.

"Two."

She pointed toward the ridge.

"Light steps. Fast."

Raizen nodded.

"Scout pair."

The First Contact

Movement.

Two second-years emerged along the ridge path.

Relaxed.

Unaware.

Scanning outward— not downward.

Akari lifted a senbon—

Raizen stopped her.

"Let them commit."

Controlled Ambush

Raizen stepped onto the ridge path— directly into their line of sight.

The reaction was instant.

"Contact!"

They rushed.

Mistake.

First attacker— redirected mid-step.

Down.

Second— attempted flank.

A senbon flashed.

Pinned sleeve.

Locked.

Silence.

"Tagged."

"Tagged."

Ten seconds.

Two eliminations.

Above the Field

High in the canopy—

Kaito Ren watched.

"Clean."

Aran nodded.

"They didn't rush the kill."

"They controlled it."

That mattered more.

Information Flow

Across the forest— a signal flare cracked faintly in the distance.

Second-years.

Alerting.

Haruto Adapts

Haruto Kagami stopped mid-stride.

He looked toward the sound.

"Scout team down."

No surprise.

Just confirmation.

"So they're hunting."

A slight smile.

"Good."

He turned.

"We tighten formation."

"No isolated scouts."

"And we flush them out."

Pressure Builds

Back in the forest—

Raizen's squad moved again.

Faster now.

But not reckless.

Inside his mind—

Astra updated.

"Enemy behavior adapting."

"Group cohesion increasing."

Which meant one thing.

"They're not scouting anymore," Raizen said.

Akari glanced back.

"They're hunting?"

Raizen nodded.

The Forest Tightens

The air changed.

Subtle.

But present.

Less movement.

More silence.

That was worse.

Because silence meant—

coordination.

The Edge of Collision

Raizen stopped again.

He felt it.

Not chakra.

Not sound.

Pressure.

Movement patterns converging.

Multiple directions.

Inside his mind—

"Enemy squads converging."

Akari drew an arrow slowly.

Daigo shifted his stance.

"…Here we go."

The Shift to War

Somewhere in the forest— branches snapped.

Elsewhere— leaves shifted.

Three directions.

Too synchronized to be coincidence.

Haruto had already adjusted.

This wasn't a search anymore.

This was containment.

Raizen exhaled slowly.

"Formation change."

The squad tightened.

Ready.

Because the war game—

had just stopped being a hunt.

And started becoming a battle.
