Chapter 107 - Chapter 105 — The Storm Run Results

The mountain finally went quiet.

The finish clearing behind Kumogakure Academy slowly filled with sound again.

Students poured down from the observation hills.

Voices rose.

Arguments sparked.

Excitement spread.

The race was over.

But what it meant— was just beginning.

The Aftermath

The air still smelled like rain.

Stone dust.

Burned earth.

Remnants of the storm that had chased them through the mountains.

Competitors stood scattered across the clearing.

Some exhausted.

Some frustrated.

Some proud.

Kenji

Kenji Sato stood near the center.

Breathing hard.

Jaw tight.

For most of the race— he had led.

Then— one moment.

Lightning.

Debris.

Delay.

That was all it took.

Rei Kisaragi walked over.

Calm as always.

"Storm got you too?"

Kenji exhaled slowly.

"Debris slowed me down."

Rei shrugged.

"Happens."

But his eyes said something else.

He had seen it.

The moment the race changed.

Raizen

A short distance away—

Raizen stood alone.

Watching.

Breathing already steady.

Inside his mind—

Astra spoke.

"Recovery: optimal."

But Raizen wasn't focused on the race anymore.

He was replaying something else.

Lightning.

Air pressure.

Timing.

Heaven Pulse

The moment he moved— before Astra.

That mattered more than first place.

Astra continued quietly.

"New sensory precedence confirmed."

Raizen's eyes narrowed slightly.

Good.

Akari

Akari Mizuta stepped into the clearing.

Dust brushed from her sleeve.

Calm.

Controlled.

"Looks like I missed the worst of it."

Kenji let out a short laugh.

"You did."

She glanced toward the canyon— then toward Raizen.

Not surprised.

Just confirming.

The Crowd

The academy gathered quickly.

Voices layered over each other.

"Who crossed first?"

"Was it Rei?"

"No—it was Tenrai."

Some students cheered.

Others didn't.

A group near the edge spoke quietly.

"He doesn't even look tired."

"…It's like nothing shakes him."

"…I don't like that."

Akari heard.

Ignored it.

This was normal now.

The Announcement

Takeshi Aran stepped onto a raised stone.

"Quiet."

The clearing settled instantly.

He held the results sheet.

"The Storm Run Championship has concluded."

A pause.

"Only three competitors receive podium recognition."

Third Place

"Third place…"

"Akari Mizuta."

Applause broke out.

Akari nodded once.

No celebration.

Just acknowledgment.

She had done what she expected.

Second Place

"Second place…"

"Rei Kisaragi."

More applause.

Rei lifted a hand lazily.

Dropped it.

Expression unreadable.

First Place

The clearing quieted.

Just slightly.

"First place…"

"Raizen Tenrai."

This time— the reaction split.

Cheers.

Silence.

Whispers.

Recognition had fully arrived.

The Rival

Kenji walked over.

Stopped in front of Raizen.

Close enough that no one else spoke.

"So."

A small grin.

"Storm saved you."

Raizen shook his head slightly.

"The storm hit everyone."

Kenji's grin sharpened.

"Next time…"

"I don't slow down."

Raizen met his eyes.

"Next time…"

"I move faster."

A beat.

Then Kenji laughed.

"…Yeah."

That settled it.

The Instructors

Above the clearing— the instructors watched.

Kaito Ren stood beside Aran.

"They're separating."

Aran nodded.

"The generation's forming."

His gaze rested on Raizen.

"He's not just winning."

"He's accelerating."

The Shift

Around the clearing— students looked differently now.

Not curiosity.

Not speculation.

Recognition.

And resistance.

Because now— there was a clear name at the front.

The Storm Passes

The crowd slowly dispersed.

Conversations continued.

Plans formed.

Rivalries deepened.

Raizen walked toward the edge of the clearing.

Toward the canyon.

The storm was already leaving.

But something remained.

Inside his mind—

Astra concluded:

"Environmental data archived."

Raizen looked toward the mountains.

The race had ended.

But something else had begun.

And the storm— was no longer just around him.

It was becoming part of him.
