Jay's POV 🏖️
The car ride to the beach was loud in the best way. Felix and Josh were arguing over playlists, Blaster and Rory were tossing chips at each other, and Potato had taken over the front seat like the king he was — head out the window, tongue flopping in the breeze.
Beside me, Jane was laughing so hard at something Yuri said that I had to roll my eyes. Meanwhile, Keifer was sitting diagonally across the aisle, earbuds in and eyes half closed — until I caught him smirking at me.
"What?" I mouthed.
He leaned closer just enough so only I could hear. "You were staring."
"I was not," I hissed, swatting at him with my towel. His soft laugh followed me the rest of the ride, and I could practically feel my face heating up.
When we finally reached the beach, everyone scattered — volleyball nets flying up, music blasting, towels tossed onto the sand. The air smelled like salt and sunscreen, and Potato was already sprinting in circles, barking happily.
I was helping Jane set up our picnic spot when I felt someone drop a cold water bottle onto my shoulder. I turned to find Keifer standing there, the sunlight catching in his hair.
"You look like you're melting," he said simply.
"Gee, thanks," I replied, short laugh escaping.
He smiled faintly. "Come on. You promised you'd swim."
"I never—hey—!" He was already tugging at my wrist before I finished. Jane's knowing grin followed me all the way to the waves.
The water was surprisingly warm, and the sky stretched endlessly above us. We splashed each other, shouted, laughed until I couldn't catch my breath. When we finally slowed down, the world felt smaller — quieter except for the tide.
"You're smiling again," he said softly.
"So are you," I shot back, eyes meeting his.
The wind tangled my hair; he reached out, gently brushing it away. My chest tightened at how his expression softened — like the teasing was only half the truth.
"Jay…" he started, voice almost lost in the waves.
I didn't let him finish — not because I didn't want to hear it, but because I already knew what he meant. The space between us closed, slower this time, careful and certain, until the rest of the world blurred into sea spray and summer light.
Potato's bark broke the spell a few seconds later, splashing through the water toward us and immediately demanding attention. I laughed, patting his head. "Way to ruin the moment, Potato."
Keifer grinned, shaking his hair out. "Or maybe he just saved you from doing something reckless."
"Too late," I said quietly, still smiling.
Jane's POV 💕
Watching from under the umbrella, I couldn't stop grinning as Jay and Keifer splashed around like two kids in a drama scene gone off‑script. Yuri flopped down beside me, holding two fruit shakes.
"Those two are hopeless," he said, passing me one.
"Yeah, but they're cute," I replied.
He looked at me, eyes warm behind his sunglasses. "Not as cute as us, though."
I raised an eyebrow. "Confident, aren't we?"
He shrugged. "Just honest."
Before I could fire back, a sudden gust of wind blew my hat right off. Yuri jumped to his feet instantly, chasing it down across the sand, laughing. When he came back, hat in hand, I couldn't stop staring at him — all sunlight and easy smiles.
"See?" he said gently, placing it back on my head. "Told you I'm good for something."
He leaned in and kissed my forehead before flopping back onto the towel, pretending like it was nothing. My heart, however, hadn't gotten that memo. I just shook my head, grinning. "You're impossible."
He chuckled.
Keifer's POV 🌅
Evening crept in, painting the sky coral and gold. Everyone gathered around the fire pit, roasting marshmallows while Potato chased the waves. The laughter felt endless.
Jay sat beside me, knees drawn up, her hair slightly tangled from the wind. There was sand all over her legs, and she didn't seem to care. Her hair wet and messy she sat besides me in a bikini
"Nice day," I said quietly.
She glanced over. "Yeah. Better than I expected, honestly."
Silence settled, comfortable and warm. The others were singing off‑key nearby, but it felt like the tide was humming just for us.
I looked down at her hand resting on the sand, close enough that one small move could erase the distance between us. So I did. Her fingers curled into mine without a word.
The fire cracked softly; Potato barked once in the distance, and Jay leaned her head on my shoulder.
I smiled into the sunset — because for once, everything felt simple.
