Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: My Mom Is an Emanator of Abundance

From Kiana the Lord Ravager Onward: A Grand Fabricated History

Author: Better Hang Myself Than Write

"This is your room, Miss Kiana. If there's anything else you need, feel free to contact me at any time."

Before long, after going through a few simple formalities that were more or less just for show, Asta brought Kiana to a room.

As an honored guest of Herta Space Station, Kiana's accommodations were naturally first-rate.

The suite was spacious, fully furnished with every amenity one could need, and beyond the enormous viewing window lay the Blue, with a spectacular view.

Asta carefully explained how to use each facility, her manner gentle and polite, but Kiana could still detect that faint trace of worry and curiosity buried in her eyes.

Which, honestly, was only natural.

After all, her current identity was that of a Lord Ravager. No matter how harmless she looked on the outside, it was enough to make anyone uneasy.

And someone like Asta—a noble young lady from one of the IPC's great families—naturally understood better than most ordinary people what the title Lord Ravager actually meant.

But how could Kiana possibly allow that?

If you were going to be a power bank, then you had to shoulder the responsibilities of a power bank properly. No slacking off allowed!

Kiana suddenly leaned closer and blinked her azure eyes.

"Miss Asta, you seem a little afraid of me?"

Caught off guard by the question, Asta froze slightly.

"You must be joking, Miss Kiana. You're a guest brought here by Madam Herta. Of course I'll treat you well."

"Really?"

Kiana didn't budge.

"But I can tell your heartbeat is a little faster than it was just now."

Before Asta could answer, however, Kiana suddenly laughed.

"I'm kidding. My identity is pretty sensitive, after all, so it's only normal for Miss Asta to feel that way."

"I-I'm very sorry, Miss Kiana!"

Seeing Kiana put on such a breezy, unconcerned expression, Asta immediately panicked. She hadn't expected her own nervousness to be so obvious.

Asta, Asta… this is someone Madam Herta personally brought back. And she's such a well-behaved little girl—how could you be harboring these thoughts?

"It's okay," Kiana comforted her casually. "I'm used to this anyway."

But that attitude only made Asta feel even guiltier.

Looks like this little retreat-to-advance maneuver is working beautifully, Kiana thought with deep satisfaction.

Looking at the guilt written all over Asta's face, she could not help but marvel inwardly.

What a pure-hearted young lady.

If someone truly malicious ever got their hands on her, she'd probably get tricked into bearing eighteen children before she even realized what had happened.

But Kiana was different.

She wasn't a bad person.

She just needed the young lady to replenish her energy a little.

Although Asta's charging efficiency couldn't compare to Herta's, she had advantages that Herta simply didn't.

As a member of the Genius Society, Herta's brilliance alone made her difficult to fool. The fact that Kiana had managed to fleece anything from her this time by leveraging the identity of a Lord Ravager already counted as a clever stroke.

Trying to replicate that kind of result again would naturally require much more groundwork.

And as for how to lay that groundwork?

Heh-heh.

Wasn't there a perfectly good little power bank sitting right in front of her?

"Miss Asta, could you stay and talk with me a little longer?"

Just as Asta was still at a loss for what to do, Kiana finally bared her fangs.

And when Asta saw that trace of loneliness in Kiana's eyes, the doubts in her heart were instantly washed away by guilt.

She nodded at once.

"Of course! What would you like to talk about, Miss Kiana?"

"You're curious too, aren't you? About my identity as a Lord Ravager… and about my past."

At that, Asta hesitated briefly, but in the end nodded honestly.

Madam Herta had returned suddenly and left just as suddenly, without explaining anything at all.

"I am a little curious. After all… Lord Ravagers don't exactly have a good reputation across the universe. But Miss Kiana, you don't really seem like that kind of person."

Kiana immediately took Asta by the hand and pulled her down to sit beside her on the bed.

"Well… actually, I'm a recently awakened relic from the ancient past."

"A recently awakened relic from the ancient past?"

Asta froze again.

Kiana's explanation was so vague it bordered on meaningless, but very quickly Asta found herself recalling certain plots from novels she had read.

Could it be that Kiana was the type of ancient powerhouse who had fallen into a deep slumber after sustaining severe injuries, only to be discovered by Madam Herta through some twist of fate?

Kiana, as though she could read minds, admitted it with astonishing openness.

"That's right. I slept for a very, very long time. Nearly ten Amber Eras, I think."

With that, Kiana leaned back onto the soft bed and stared up at the ceiling, her tone light and unhurried.

"If Madam Herta hadn't suddenly found me, I probably would have kept sleeping for a lot longer."

"It's just a shame that when I woke up, the whole world had become unfamiliar… and even my mom was gone."

"Your mother, Miss Kiana?"

Asta's attention was instantly captured.

Anyone capable of giving birth to a girl as beautiful as Kiana must surely have been a very elegant woman herself.

But almost immediately, Asta realized she might have said the wrong thing.

Because by Kiana's own account, nearly ten Amber Eras had passed since before she fell asleep. Her mother was probably long gone by now.

Kiana nodded, and a wistful look surfaced in her eyes.

"Mhm. Mom was beautiful, and gentle too. She was the greatest person in the whole world."

Seeing that expression, the last traces of caution in Asta's heart finally vanished. She even began to feel sorry for the Emanator before her.

"Miss Kiana… even if it's been a very long time, for your mother to have protected you so well and kept you safe until the day you could awaken, she must have loved you very, very much."

"I'm sure that if her spirit in heaven knew you had finally awakened, she'd be very happy too."

Unexpectedly, Kiana sat upright at once.

"Miss Asta, I'm really happy you're trying to comfort me like that, but it's not quite right to describe my mom as some spirit in heaven."

Asta blinked.

"Huh? But… didn't you say it's already been nearly ten Amber Eras?"

After all, nearly ten Amber Eras was an extraordinarily long span of time. Even among the long-lived species of the Xianzhou Alliance, the average lifespan was only a few Amber Eras at most.

Could it be that Kiana's mother also possessed some extraordinary method of longevity?

Asta looked at Kiana, the curiosity in her eyes practically overflowing.

As a young lady from an immensely influential family, Asta naturally knew that the universe contained all sorts of methods for extending life. But beings capable of crossing nearly ten Amber Eras were usually tied closely to Aeons and Paths.

Kiana tilted her head, and her white hair slipped over her shoulder.

"Mhm. In theory, that's true. But my mom is a little special."

Then she grinned.

"Heh-heh. My mom is an Emanator of Abundance."
