"Heh. What a truly splendid film."
Hidden Sound Village, underground experimental base.
Orochimaru lounged sideways in a specially made laboratory chair. Feeling the waves of chakra and battle pressure emanating from the light screen—as immersive as if he were there in person—a look of keen interest rose on his face.
For an ordinary shinobi, sensing the lingering force of such destruction would likely have sent them collapsing to the ground in fear.
Even knowing in advance that it was only a movie, most people probably still would not have been able to fully suppress the terror welling up inside them.
But Orochimaru was different.
As one of the rare Kage-level powerhouses of the current era, this degree of residual battle pressure was nowhere near enough to make him show fear.
And compared to that fleeting sense of dread, what interested him far more at the moment was the mysterious light screen itself.
Yes—unlike the view held by most shinobi right now, after repeatedly testing the screen's ability to capture chakra fluctuations and carefully observing the details of the images it transmitted, Orochimaru had already come to a basic conclusion:
This floating screen was not the product of genjutsu.
It bore no trace of residual chakra whatsoever. Instead, it seemed more like some kind of high-tech construct operating on unknown and highly precise principles—something far beyond the highest level of technology currently existing in the ninja world. It was practically an artifact from another age.
The only question was: what hidden force could possibly possess such an astonishing level of technological development, enough to create a mysterious object so far ahead of its time?
Surely it couldn't be...
that what the light screen was showing really was a scene from the future world?
The moment that thought surfaced, Orochimaru let out a low chuckle, his tongue lightly sliding over his lips as the anticipation in his gaze toward the screen deepened further.
["Wonderful! That was amazing, Princess Fūun—absolutely amazing! Justice finally won!!"]
Outside the film itself, the blond boy who had previously stared tensely at the screen and shouted warnings about the princess's danger immediately began jumping and waving his arms in excitement when he saw the happy ending.
At the same time, the image on the light screen gradually began to pull back and reverse.
Only then did it become clear that this blond boy was apparently free from gravity itself—his feet firmly stuck to the cinema ceiling as he continued cheering upside down for the ending.
And on the ceiling beside him stood two other companions of roughly the same age.
"What?! Sasuke and I showed up on the light screen too?!"
Back in Konoha, in the safety of the village after returning with Kakashi, Sakura's pupils suddenly contracted when she saw herself and Sasuke flash across the floating screen. She could not help crying out in disbelief.
Beside her, Sasuke's brows furrowed tightly as well, a trace of puzzlement flickering in his eyes.
Why were he, Sakura, and Naruto all appearing in this mysterious screen of unknown origin?
Could it be...
that the Seventh Chosen One mentioned before the screening began was one of the three of them?
"This is awesome, Sakura, Sasuke! Look, all three of us are on it! We're definitely gonna be famous in the village now!!"
Completely unlike Sakura's panic and Sasuke's grim focus, Naruto stared at the clear images of his two teammates on the screen and became visibly excited.
At the same time—
in order to deal with the mysterious light screen hanging in the sky, a threat filled with unknown danger,
the Third Hokage immediately issued orders for every team leader currently still inside the village
to gather all the newly graduated genin—those fresh out of the Ninja Academy and still lacking experience—inside Konoha's most heavily guarded meeting hall for centralized protection.
At the same time, he ordered the medical division's shinobi to remain on standby at all times, preparing emergency supplies and treatment plans in advance in case chaos caused by the light screen resulted in injuries among shinobi or villagers, so they could begin rescue efforts immediately if needed.
And while all of Konoha was springing into rapid motion in response to this unknown threat from the screen, the altered video in the sky remained completely unaffected, continuing to play as smoothly as ever.
[The other moviegoers in the theater had long since grown somewhat speechless at the blond boy's yelling and shouting, though out of courtesy they had refrained from saying anything openly.
Just then, hurried footsteps sounded from the cinema entrance, and a man in a dark blue work uniform strode in angrily. His gaze locked instantly onto the figures on the ceiling.
"This is a movie theater! What do you think you're doing up there?! Do you have any idea you're disturbing everyone else trying to watch the film?!"
Faced with the staff member's furious scolding, the blond boy panicked. The strength in the feet adhering him to the ceiling immediately faltered, and he crashed straight down onto the carpeted aisle.
Then he got back up, rubbing the back of his aching head while grumbling irritably at the employee:
"What was that for?"
"You suddenly came out yelling like that—you made me fall!"
"Hah, you fell and you're blaming me? Looks to me like you were trying to hide on the ceiling and watch the movie without paying, weren't you?"
"No, no! I wasn't trying to freeload!"
Hearing that, the blond boy stopped rubbing his head and hurriedly scrambled to his feet, waving his hands in frantic explanation. "I just wanted to train while watching the movie! Practicing upside down helps improve chakra control and balance!"
"Training?"
At that, the employee's brows drew together slightly. But before he could continue questioning them, the blond boy's other two companions jumped down from the ceiling as well.
One of them, a black-haired boy, moved neatly and efficiently. As soon as he landed, he pulled out three folded movie tickets from his pocket and held them out to the employee, speaking in an even tone:
"If you want the tickets, we have them. All three are here."
"You three... are Konoha shinobi, aren't you?" The employee took the tickets and glanced at them. Only then did he notice the Konoha forehead protectors the three wore, and his tone instantly softened.
"Heh, that's right!"
Before the black-haired boy could say anything else, the blond boy immediately puffed out his chest, planted his hands on his hips, and loudly introduced himself:
"I'm the super ninja who's gonna inherit the title of Hokage sooner or later and make the whole village acknowledge me! Uzumaki Naruto—that's me!!"
"Would you shut up already?! Get out! Can't you just watch a movie quietly?!"
Naruto Uzumaki's words had not even fully faded before the audience—who had long since reached their limit with his nonstop noise—could no longer restrain themselves. One after another, they grabbed popcorn, drink cups, and whatever snacks they had on hand, hurling them all toward Naruto's direction.
For a moment, the entire theater descended into chaos.
And amid that confusion, the image on the light screen slowly froze.
On one side was Naruto, scrambling in panic as snacks rained down on him, while his two companions stood nearby, helplessly pressing their hands to their foreheads and shaking their heads.
On the other side was the final shot from the film's closing scene: Princess Fūun and her companions, their shadows stretched long by the setting sun, walking step by step toward the far end of the rainbow spanning the horizon.]
