Konoha Village, Emergency Medical Unit.
Inside the spacious, brightly lit office, there was no one else around. Xuanqing stood by the window, staring at the bustling street outside for a long while, unable to come back to himself.
Out on the street, villagers in furisode and haori moved busily to and fro, each occupied with their own affairs. From time to time, a few agile figures clad in the village's signature green flak vests flashed across the rooftops lining the road.
There was no doubt about it. He had transmigrated.
And, to make matters worse, he had landed in the world of Naruto—a world that seemed to preach bonds and hard work changing everything, yet at its core was steeped in the cruel logic of bloodlines and predestined fate.
"Sigh… In a world this dangerous, is there really any way for me to survive here?"
Now that he understood his situation, Xuanqing could not help letting out a long sigh. Then he slumped heavily into his office chair.
In this brand-new world, aside from having a different surname than in his previous life, everything else about him was exactly the same. He had the same appearance, the same build, and even the same given name: Xuanqing. He was also a child who had grown up in Konoha since infancy.
Although his parents had died years ago during the Nine-Tails incident, leaving him the sole survivor of his family, things had not been entirely bleak.
Thanks to the connections his parents had built up while they were alive, coupled with his own talent for chakra control and his solid grasp of medical ninjutsu, he had successfully entered Konoha's medical department after graduating from the Ninja Academy. He now held an important position in the emergency medical unit, and his life had been relatively stable.
But in his eyes, none of that was what truly mattered.
What truly troubled him was the simple fact that this world was far too dangerous.
The moment he thought of the disasters yet to come—the Pain invasion, the destruction of Konoha, Uchiha Obito and Uchiha Madara plunging the world into the Fourth Great Ninja War for the sake of the Eye of the Moon Plan, and then the Ōtsutsuki clan and the Ten-Tails clones appearing in the Boruto era—his scalp went numb.
And just as Xuanqing sat there, full of frustration and inwardly cursing his terrible start, a mysterious voice suddenly rang out in his mind without warning.
[Ding!]
[Detected intense emotional fluctuation in the host. System officially activated!!]
As the mysterious voice fell silent, Xuanqing's vision blurred abruptly, as if an invisible barrier had suddenly descended before his eyes.
He quickly focused—and only then did he see it clearly.
Floating before him was a pure white virtual panel that emitted a soft glow. At the very center of the panel was a symbol that looked strangely familiar.
It did not take long for him to remember.
Wasn't that the logo from the login screen of that bootleg anime crossover fighting game he used to play in his previous life?
Only, compared to the interface in his memory, this panel was far more minimalist. The flashy background surrounding the logo was gone, and the customer service contact info, recharge button, and other clutter that had once been clearly displayed in the upper right corner had all disappeared as well.
At the same time, however, Xuanqing noticed something new.
In the lower left corner of the virtual panel, there was a string of numbers he had never seen in his previous life.
Three thousand?
What did that mean?
With that question arising in his mind, Xuanqing cautiously began experimenting with the virtual panel before him. It did not take long for him to figure out what it did, and a flash of delight passed through his eyes.
So this softly glowing virtual panel was the cheat he had been granted—an evolved form of that bootleg little game from his previous life.
Its main function was to exchange for things related to the concept of anime.
From signature divine weapons wielded by anime characters, to puppets and templates representing characters at specific stages of strength—so long as they met the requirement of originating from anime, they all had a chance of being obtained through the panel.
Of course, there was no such thing as a free lunch.
If he wanted to obtain something he desired from the system, he had to pay a corresponding price—and that price was emotion points. The stronger the ability of the exchanged item or puppet, or the more he wanted to enhance and upgrade those exchanged goods, the more emotion points it would cost.
As for how emotion points were acquired, that would require Xuanqing to use items or character puppets obtained from the system to influence other people and trigger emotional fluctuations in them.
Whether he inspired joyful, positive emotions, or provoked disgust and resentment, as long as the impact he had on others was strong enough and far-reaching enough, he could harvest a considerable amount of emotion points from it. The more famous the character was in the world of Naruto, the more emotion points they would provide in return.
It was obvious.
This was a system that did not follow the conventional path. If he wanted power, he would need to continuously manufacture events shocking enough to shake the world and reap the emotional reactions of its people.
"So it looks like becoming a mastermind behind the scenes is no longer optional. The only question is whether I can really steer all of this well enough to bring some fresh change—and a bit of amusement—to this ninja world so obsessed with bloodline fatalism."
After fully understanding the system's various functions, Xuanqing was filled with delight.
And yet, buried beneath that delight was a faint thread of worry.
After all, beyond the openly active shinobi of the various nations, the Naruto world still had something hidden in the shadows: a being who could be called the guardian deity of the ninja world itself—the Sage of Six Paths.
That was a true godlike existence, one capable of deciding the life and death of the entire ninja world.
And most of the things Xuanqing could exchange from the system had nothing to do with the foundational chakra system of the Naruto world.
Which meant that if he used those exchanged items to create a "major event" in the ninja world powerful enough to trigger large-scale emotional upheaval, there was a very real chance it would attract the old man's attention.
And if it really came to that, things would become troublesome.
Low-level puppets might not be able to deceive the Sage of Six Paths' Rinnegan. His plans could very well die before they ever truly began—and even his own safety might no longer be guaranteed.
Therefore, if he was going to act at all, he first had to ensure that his real body remained absolutely safe.
The joy on Xuanqing's face, born from the arrival of the system, immediately faded at that thought. He sank into contemplation, calculating how he could manufacture a major event in a way that was both safer and more efficient for harvesting emotion points.
And as he thought, a plan gradually began to take shape in his mind.
"If stirring things up openly in the real world is likely to draw the Sage of Six Paths' attention too early, then why not take a different route and achieve the same effect through videos instead? The system never explicitly said that I have to create sensational events in the real world in order to collect emotion points."
"As long as the final result can touch the hearts of the people of the ninja world and provoke emotional reactions from them, the system can convert those emotions into emotion points. That's a lot easier than painstakingly creating major incidents in real life."
As that thought crossed his mind, Xuanqing recalled the ranking-type and future-tampering novels he had read in his previous life.
Maybe he could imitate those stories—construct a giant light-screen system, then begin broadcasting visions of the ninja world's future—
No.
If he merely played the original future as it was, the impact would be nowhere near enough.
At most, only the future involving the Akatsuki and the Fourth Great Ninja War would be capable of providing him with a large amount of emotion points. Everything else would barely stir the ninja world at all.
Besides, what fun would there be in something so bland?
Since he had been given such an opportunity, he ought to slip a little of his own private agenda into those future videos—adding the system's puppets and some of its divine weapons to them, and thereby tampering with reality itself to create an entirely unprecedented new future for the ninja world.
Once he reached that point in his thinking, Xuanqing quickly made up his mind.
He first used the three thousand emotion points granted by the system as a starting gift and selected, from among the dazzling exchange list, a tiny background television from some obscure, unknown anime. Then he decisively completed the exchange.
After that, he threw himself headfirst into intense preparations.
On one hand, he used his remaining emotion points to strengthen and modify the little television he had just obtained, gradually transforming it into the kind of grand light screen he remembered. On the other hand, he began designing the tampered future videos he would later broadcast, determined to create an extraordinary work capable of stirring towering waves across the ninja world.
And just like that, three months quietly slipped by.
When Xuanqing arrived at the Emergency Medical Unit as usual one morning, everything he had prepared in advance was finally complete.
He casually dragged a wooden chair over to the window, then sat down and began enjoying the breakfast he had bought from a nearby street stall. At the same time, savoring the anticipation of appreciating his own masterpiece, he silently gave the command in his heart:
"Activate."
At Xuanqing's order, the system immediately sprang into motion.
The next second, a pitch-black light screen appeared without warning above every major ninja village and every town across the land. Then, slowly, a voice began to ring out.
["Time. Space. Reality."]
["They have never been a single track stretching in one direction, but prisms reflecting countless possibilities."]
["Every choice is enough to shatter the barrier of reality, allowing new causality and new futures to bloom at the boundary between illusion and truth."]
["This time, I shall lead you to witness the journey of salvation of the Seventh Chosen One!"]
