Though, the games of thrones are not things that any of these soldiers should be thinking right now
The one thing they should be thinking right now is how to survive. How to fight?
But for methods of fighting, slashing, stabbing, cutting, these are the methods that these peasants know
There is no need for a noble to teach them all of this.
They know how to slash, how to stab, how to cut, it is embedded in their daily work. They cut trees, slashes beast and cut things
All of this could be trained by yourself in your own village. But some methods for attack, some know how is only passed down to the nobles
The kind of method which is called strategy. Where to place your horses, where to place the archers, how to motivate the men, how to use your men, how to judge a person, this method is called the arts of nobility.
But this kid that he saw, this kid who he knows to never have any battle training or combat training…this kid manages not only to kill a fully armed soldier, he just dispatch another one with ease.
Dodging and deflecting like it was no one business, jumping and rolling with such dexterity that Miklos could not believe he had just fought a man before
Fighting a person always consume energy.
Even now, running, uses a lot of his stamina.
But this kid, does noy look wind up even after fighting two people. Fighting two people and killing two people and he did not look like he got wind up
That alone is amazing.
He might not have the education of nobles in the arts of nobility but in fighting, even some rookie squire would not be able so easily like this kid.
Just before, he easily dodges and deflected the soldier attack like a cat, lithely jumping and moving like he is dancing.
There is elegance to it, flowing and continuous.
This is why it almost looks like he is dancing
And the more amazing thing is that even after killing the soldier, there is no hesitation and no wasted movement.
He does not know here Henrik learns of this stuff.
from what he knows, Henrik is the son of a baker
Though, to be honest, he does not really know Henrik family.
He lives near the mine, behind the hills, around the rocky area, while Henrik lives near the castle grounds, a village inside the castle walls.
Who knows if his father could hire some swordmaster from Venetia? Or maybe he had learned some sword fighting?
A fighting power is needed and Miklos believe that this kid is even better than him in fighting.
There is Henrik, and there is this one other kid. From the very beginning he saw him, this person is calm.
There is nothing special that he shows but this calmness is enough to unrattled him
He does not know whether this other kid have any talents or not but for now he needs all the help he could get
"We arrived"
They are standing on top of the hill and for a moment they all seem to take a deep breath.
But they do not feel refreshed at all. Their nose could smell the smoke, their ears could hear the screams from all over and their body is trembling, shivering, shaking.
This battle is far from over.
And the moment they found a reprieve, their bodies seem to relaxed and all of the pain that they held out before, all of their anxieties seems to be let out
Other than three people. Henrik and Miklos is still calm.
And then they look below them and they frowned
"Shit" Henrik cursed the moment he saw the scenery below
It was truly...hell
..
The scene below the hill is full of chaos.
Chaos, death, blood and fire.
Henrik could see someone is getting sniped by arrows, the arrows sails through the air and hit straight at that rebel soldier head.
One shot and he is dead
Then he looks at a different direction and see some people who did not only take one arrow but hundreds of them
Probably there was a blanket arrow attack and this person is caught up in it
Some bodies were so riddled by arrow from afar it looks like a human porcupine.
Looking below the hill, there is battle that is so brutal that if this was the modern world, it would not be aired on the television.
Heads being smashed, body being cut and everything felt a little more personal when you have to do all of this personally.
You have to look the people you killed in the eyes. A baker from France killing a barber from England.
He suddenly remembers some story he reads before.
He saw the brutality, the mercilessness and the beastly nature of men. All of this and more.
Clang!
"Argh!"
'Enemy attack!"
"KILL THEM!"
"Attack the side!"
"Reinforcement is coming!" there is all kinds of screams and words are being thrown around.
It could easily make everyone disoriented.
Miklos, and Henrik look from a high vantage point. Miklos is looking in the distance while Henrik is looking at down below
To him, it looks like a sieve.
A sieve of men.
And now that he is around this area, he could see the terrain even more clearly.
"A valley like terrain?"
He looks around and he could see there is four paths into this area.
Around the area is tall hills, and there are four narrow passes. But this barrow passes could not really be called passes.
After all, the area is hill not mountains.
And these hill while tall is not something that could not be surmounted.
It would take some energy, but it is not something that is monumental.
There is carriage around the area of the entrance, and the carriage and carts are stacked upon one another to create a makeshift wall.
And the place where Henrik was is like a depression, a small sliding terrain if one look at it from the perspective of someone who is on top of the hill looking down
"It is not to block but to induce attack?"
Then Henrik run to the other side and look at the other side and the sight blew him away
"What the hell!"
On the other side is a large plain. And in these large plains, there is tens of thousands of men fighting.
From cavalry to armed men, tens of thousands of men. And in a distance there is a thick forest.
Though Henrik could not see clearly from far away he could still the outlines. And it is unlike anything he had ever seen.
There is smoke and flames and the sight of these tens of thousands of men really blew him away that for a moment any other image is erased from his mind for a moment.
But this was just for a moment.
A second later he took all of this in and he could somewhat understand.
"It is a line of defence. Maybe in the distance there is a mountain, but that mountain area opens up to a large vast plain and this hill area is a passage"
"The passage is blocked so that the main force would not be attacked from each direction?"
Henrik thought to himself but honestly he doesn't know if this is right.
He does not know strategy at all, and he could only guess.
What he does know that this area that he is in, is a hill, the area below is like a square.
As long as they could hold the enemy army here, they could not attack the main force from two sides.
If the rear is attacked then there is panic.
though Henrik does not understand military strategy that much, he does understand something about medieval war.
The time when the casualty is the highest is when the morale collapses and the enemy is routed or when the enemy stage a retreat.
Once that happens, if you pursue, the casualty of the enemy is more than if you just hold your ground
Not many uses feigned retreat unless they are the Mongols.
Because feigned retreat is a method of the nomads.
They are used to horses and so their ability to use horses has always a level higher than a society that do not use horses.
"Going down there toward the main force, is also death, going down to that area is also death?"
Henrik right now did not have any intention of trying to protect the rebel army or whatever army this is.
Protect the rebel army? Who is he to be so arrogant? Just trying to save his life is already a monumental act that seems to be defying the heavens
Only he knew how difficult it was to pass through that death door
Even though he had won against two people, it is not like he suddenly had a big head and think he is powerful and invincible.
He won two times but die eleven times.
That is not really winning.
That means his odds of losing is higher than his odds of winning
He did not know what these people are fighting for and he did not know what and who is attacking them
And he did not know how to judge. Whether the forces he is on is winning or not.
