"Are you happy now?" Salvar spat the moment after the slap landed across Silas face.
His hand fisted into Silas's collar aggressively enough to wrinkle the fabric.
"The police came to arrest me. Is this what you wanted?"
Silas touched the side of his face where the slap still burned faintly and looked at Salvar with visible confusion.
"What?"
"Don't act stupid." Salvar's voice cracked with restrained fury. "You killed Matthew and pushed the evidence toward me just to drag me back into a cell. Don't tell me it wasn't your doing?"
Silas narrowed his eyes slowly.
Then realization crossed his face.
Not understanding just pattern recognition.
He abruptly shoved Salvar backward and his gaze moved toward the doorway where Milo, Xavier, Skyler, and the maid were all still gathered outside like unwilling participants in a domestic disaster.
Silas exhaled sharply and walked forward to close the bedroom door himself.
The click echoed through the room.
