"I am going to the company," Salvar said, already moving. "Look after Milo."
Skyler stepped into the doorway before Salvar could get through it.
"No. It's dangerous." His eyes moved toward the fractured hand. "Look what he already did to you."
"It wasn't Matthew who did it," Salvar said. "It was someone else."
Skyler's expression shifted into something that hadn't fully found its footing yet.
"There are two people involved in this. And moreover, I don't like my business being handled by others." Salvar looked at him flatly. "Move."
Skyler didn't move.
He was looking at Salvar the way people looked at something functioning incorrectly while trying to identify where exactly the fault was.
"I'll handle it," Skyler said. "Trust me. Let me..."
"It's not about trust." Salvar met his eyes directly. "You're not assigned to protect me. You're assigned to Milo."
Skyler opened his mouth.
