It had been a week since Kabel was named and he could now more or less hobble around with some success. Even so Rotund asked Rolt the village woodsman to fashion a crude wheelchair for Kabel.
It was very hard work for Rotund but occasionally Fasha would come by and help with the laundry or the cooking all while avoiding Kabel of course. "You shouldn't work so much in your old age father" Rotund was washing the clothes in a water basin and she went in too try and help before being shooed "Please if I don't do it who will"
Fasha looked at him reluctantly and left and went back too her house. After doing the laundry Rotund came back into the house and saw Kabel trying too stand yet again. He manged too stand up straight for a few seconds while his legs wobbled. He manged to stand and even walk for up too a hour now as he even started helping with the chores.
As night fell he grabbed a book and a taught Kabel the language and whatever else he felt like. "This how you spell your name and this how you spell the name off our territory, Berlize and we're in the kingdom of Calkupka"
He read out patiently and used one of few books he had too show the words aswell. Kabel looked at the old man and a warm feeling bloomed in him "Rotund?"
The word shocked him to silence until he got a simile on his face and said "so you can talk after all" After that his comprehension only speeded up futher.
He experienced an expenatioal growth in all of his skills. When he figured out walking jumping wasn't too hard and when he figured out talking reading didn't take long. Three months passed and he had learned all of the basic skills and even beyond that of an average 6 year old.
In that same time stories and gossip spread beacuase of the invetiable fuss from when he was brought over and Fasha was not helping with her gossiping with all the other mothers who then spread into their familes Kabel had become infamous in the community. While the adults talked and theorised the children took the base facts and distorted them into a million different tales and stories. Of course they had seen Kabel before as he spent a decent amount of time outside the village cheifs house helping with chores or simply enjoying the sun but nothing more.
This cuased his infamy to grow even more which only futher crushed all hopes of them approaching him. After gaining a basic skills one day Rotund asked Kabel "Don't you want to play with the other kids?" Kabel looked up from his book which Miranda had lent him and said "Why are they smarter than this book?" Rotund was left speechless "I have much more interesting things too do why would I learn and play their stupid games" Kabel said while waving his dissmingly clearly feeling superior.
"Ohoho look who's grown an ego...but child remember this not matter how many books you read you will never beat a person who's lived even a tenth of them" Kabel looked at Rotund in awe of his wise words. Kabel knew how the other kids in the village looked at him but perhaps maybe just perhaps it was time for him too finally introduce himself.
