Chapter 4 - Baby steps

A day had passed and the village cheif had brought his remaining family over too adopted the child. "Fasha this child deserves a chance it won't be too much of a burden I know you have Felixstow already but please consider taking him in" Fasha looked extremely uncomfortable and looked down "I'm sorry but I dont want that bad omen near my son...I'll help out where i can but I just can't" Rotund was disappointed but what more could he do?

"If that's all father I need to get back too cook diner" She got up and left the house awkwardly. Rotund looked at the now marginally less figity child and sighed. He hoped that someone would adopt him but it seems that the job would come down to him.

He walked over and slowly unwrapped the boy while ready to jump back at any time. Interestingly the boy didn't move a muscle when he was getting unwrapped showing some signs of intelligence. "Well a monster would have eaten me by now" he thought.

The boy slowly tried to engage his muscles to sit up. In his time wrapped he got too be very familiar with how his body worked. The longer he lived in it the more the instincts kicked in. He sat up on the bed and looked the old man in the eye before his stomach grumbled.

"After that commotion you must be hungry eh" The child mearly looked at him clearly not understanding. At that moment Rotund truly felt the amount of work he had ahead of him.

Rotund disgruntled got up and went too prepare his vegetables and make a hearty stew. In the meantime the child tried to stand up and slammed onto the wooden floor. His legs moved like a fish and when that wouldn't work he looked over too the old man who was currently walking over too help him.

Rotund grabbed him by his shoulders and with a grunt lifted him up "I knows his legs work godammit" The child was extremely confused and upon being placed down back on the bed he kept trying and failing too stand too the point that the old man just gave up on putting him back.

He kept at for an hour until purple bruises started forming on his body which gave him somthing new too be fascinated about. Eventuality the stew was ready. It was a brown liquid with big vegetable chunks and small strips of meat floated about just by looking you could tell everything was expertly cut. The aroma reminded one of home even if they never had the dish before and it cuased the child's mouth too water.

The old man dragged the chairs back too the table and picked up the child and placed him on a chair opposite him. He then carefully ladled a good portion of soup into a wooden bowl infant of him. The table was set up next too a window that let you stare out at the entire village. The chef's house was placed at the highest point in the middle of the village so it made for an amazing view of an seemingly endless forest of green.

The child stared in wonder at the sight as the Rotund stared at him and decided on the name "Kabel"
