Chapter 2 - 2-An eye

Chapter 3 — Eggchan, the Eye That Sees

Life in the End had slowly become… strange.

What was once a silent, lifeless dimension now had shouting, flying, and occasionally a small floating eyeball making strange noises.

MinuteTech still wasn't sure how that had happened.

But somehow, Eggchan had stayed.

Though to understand that… you had to go back to the day Wemmbu first found it.

Far out on one of the smaller floating islands, Wemmbu crouched near a cluster of chorus plants. The pale End Stone beneath his feet reflected the faint purple glow of the void sky. His wings twitched excitedly as he watched something hovering in the air.

"Woah…"

Floating in front of him was a small creature.

It was round.

Almost perfectly round.

Like a floating eyeball.

A single large purple eye rested in the center of its body, blinking slowly. Two tiny wings flapped gently on each side, keeping it suspended in the air.

But unlike a normal creature… its gaze was sharp. Observant. Curious.

It didn't just look around randomly.

It was studying Wemmbu.

The creature tilted slightly.

It stared at him.

Wemmbu stared back.

They both blinked.

"…You're weird," Wemmbu said.

The creature spun in a slow circle.

"Brrp."

Wemmbu gasped.

"You can talk?!"

The eye blinked again, as if thinking.

"Brrp."

"…Okay maybe not."

The floating eye drifted closer and gently bumped against Wemmbu's forehead.

Boop.

Wemmbu laughed.

"Hey!"

The creature circled him once, carefully observing his wings, his horns, and his glowing eyes—almost like it was analyzing him.

Then it floated beside him calmly.

Wemmbu crossed his arms and studied it back.

"Hmmm…"

"You need a name."

The creature blinked.

"Brrp?"

Wemmbu suddenly snapped his fingers.

"I GOT IT."

He pointed dramatically at the creature.

"Eggchan."

The eyeball spun happily.

"Brrp!"

"See? You like it."

Eggchan flew in a small loop around Wemmbu's head before landing gently on his hair like a very strange hat.

Wemmbu grinned.

"You're my pet now."

Eggchan blinked slowly.

Not offended.

Not confused.

Just… accepting the situation.

Almost like it had already decided to stay.

Later that day, Wemmbu returned to the main island near the bedrock fountain.

MinuteTech sat nearby, repairing a piece of Netherite armor with matching Netherite tools resting beside him. The dark metal gleamed faintly under the purple sky.

He looked up when he heard footsteps.

Then he noticed something floating beside Wemmbu.

MinuteTech slowly blinked.

"…What."

Wemmbu smiled proudly.

"Dad, I made a friend."

The floating eyeball waved its tiny wings.

"Brrp."

MinuteTech stared at it.

"…What is that."

"I don't know," Wemmbu said cheerfully. "I found it near the chorus trees."

MinuteTech rubbed his temples.

"Wemmbu… you can't just adopt random creatures from the End."

"But look at it!" Wemmbu said.

Eggchan spun once.

Then it floated closer to the tools lying beside MinuteTech.

Its large eye carefully examined the Netherite pickaxe, the sword, and the armor plates.

It moved slowly around them.

Studying the material.

MinuteTech noticed.

"…It's smart," he muttered.

Eggchan looked back at him.

Blink.

"Brrp."

MinuteTech stared at the creature for a long moment.

Then he sighed.

"…Fine."

Wemmbu's eyes lit up.

"REALLY?!"

"But if it tries to eat an Enderman," MinuteTech said calmly, "it's your responsibility."

Eggchan slowly turned its giant eye toward an Enderman standing nearby.

The Enderman froze.

Eggchan tilted slightly… thinking.

Then it calmly looked away.

"Brrp."

MinuteTech nodded slightly.

"…Good choice."

Wemmbu burst out laughing.

MinuteTech sighed.

"…The End is becoming a zoo."

But despite his complaints…

He didn't send the strange creature away.

That night, the End was quiet again.

Wemmbu sat near the edge of a floating island of pale End Stone, swinging his legs over the endless void while Eggchan floated beside him.

The sky stretched endlessly above them.

Blink.

Blink.

Then suddenly—

Eggchan froze.

Its large eye widened.

"…Eggchan?" Wemmbu asked.

The creature slowly turned its gaze toward the bedrock fountain in the distance.

Wemmbu followed its gaze.

"…What are you looking at?"

There was nothing there.

Just darkness.

But Eggchan kept staring.

Its body trembled slightly.

"Brr…?"

Wemmbu stood up.

"What is it?"

Eggchan slowly drifted toward the center island.

Wemmbu followed behind.

As they approached the fountain, Eggchan began to shake more.

Its eye widened further.

Because floating above the bedrock fountain…

Was something Wemmbu could not see.

A massive glowing shape made of faint purple light.

Huge wings.

A long serpentine body.

The spirit of the Ender Dragon.

Its ghostly form circled slowly above the fountain like a silent guardian.

Watching the End it once ruled.

Eggchan trembled.

"…Brra…"

The spirit dragon turned its head.

For a brief moment…

Its glowing eyes met Eggchan's.

Neither moved.

The dragon did not roar.

It simply continued circling peacefully in the sky.

Still protecting the End.

Still watching over its child.

Wemmbu looked around again.

"…Eggchan?"

The floating eyeball slowly turned back to him.

Blink.

Then it drifted quietly back to Wemmbu's side like nothing had happened.

But deep inside its strange little mind…

Eggchan understood something important.

It possessed a rare ability.

It could see what others could not.

The souls of the dead.

The lingering spirits of the End.

And high above the floating islands…

The spirit of Wemmbu's mother still watched over the dimension she once ruled.

Far away on another island, MinuteTech stared into the dark sky.

For a moment…

He felt a familiar presence.

He crossed his arms.

"…So you're still here," he murmured quietly.

Even if he couldn't see her.

He knew.

The Ender Dragon had never truly left.

And now…

Someone else had finally seen her.

And that someone…

Was a strange little floating eye.
